Jennie Moloney has been named Baseball Scoring Director for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

As a life member of Williamstown Baseball Club and a long-time scorer in the Victorian baseball community, Jennie has made countless contributions to her beloved sport over the years, and her dedication has earned her another exciting opportunity.

This will be Jennie’s third time at the Olympics, having scored at the 2020 Sydney games and the 2008 Beijing games. She was also named 2019 Scorer of the Year by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC).

Find out that she will lead the baseball scorers at the Olympic was a lovely surprise. “I had my fingers crossed that I might get appointed to be a scorer, but scoring director was a shock,” Jennie said. “It's a big responsibility to be the scoring director at an Olympic Games so hopefully I'll be up the challenge.”

Jennie is excited about reuniting with fellow scorers and technical officials she’s worked with in the past, as well as visiting a new city she hasn’t been to before. “I’m looking forward to seeing how Tokyo compares,” Jennie said. Although she loved the Sydney Olympics, she’s sure Tokyo will put on a great show. “Knowing how the Japanese operate I'm sure it will be an amazing Olympics.”

Having experience at previous Olympics has helped Jennie prepare to take on the role of scoring director. “I think that what I'll take into this from the other Olympics, and the other tournaments I've been to, is that you're part of a great team of officials all working to the same goal, to produce the best baseball competition that we can,” Jennie said. “That the experience that we've all gained from past events will stand us in good stead.”
