The 2019/20 VSBL Division 4 competition featured some huge games as Berwick City, Footscray White, Fitzroy Maroon, Fitzroy Gold, Melbourne, North Coburg and Waverley Black all secured 2-0 starts to the season. With 17 rounds to go there's lots of awesome Division 4 action in store for the rest of the season. 

Division 4 East

St Kilda Saints vs. Malvern Braves

The Braves prevailed in a high-scoring matchup against the Saints. St Kilda was in the game right until the end with a one-run lead, although they lost their advantage when Malvern scored two runs to walk it off. Malvern scored over 100 runs as a club in round two with five senior teams, and the Braves will hope to continue their hot hitting in round three against 2-0 Melbourne. St Kilda has shown plenty of offensive power and they will look to get their first victory on the board against Waverley Black in round three. 


Monash University Farmers vs. Waverley Wildcats Black

Facing the reigning premiers, Monash Uni found themselves overpowered by a hard-hitting Wildcats team that wouldn't budge. The Farmers had a home run and that was about it as Waverley took a 2-0 record. Next up for Monash Uni is a home game vs. Fitzroy Gold while Waverley Black takes on St Kilda.

Blackburn Orioles vs. Fitzroy Gold

Fitzroy enjoyed a 19-5 win in round one, and they kept up the pace in their second game with a massive win over Blackburn. The Orioles put up an impressive fight with 10 runs of their own, but it wasn't enough to bridge the gap. 

The Lions prevailed with home runs to Henry Formosa-Doyle, James Doyle and Chuck Ratnayake, who also homered in their first game. Now Fitzroy will set their sights on Monash Uni, while Blackburn hosts Waverley Wildcats Red.



Division 4 South

Pakenham Pumas vs. Monash University Farmers

Monash Uni used an inside-the-park home run and plenty of other proficiency at the plate to get the job done in dominating fashion. The Pumas will try and avoid three straight losses in round three against Berwick while Monash faces Moorabbin fresh from a bye.

The reigning premiers of Division 4 South are a force to be reckoned with, outscoring their opponents 21-2 in the first two rounds. The Cougars have big bats and reliable pitching to back them up, and they are looking to be a strong competitor once again this season. The Hunters have the week off and Berwick visits Pakenham for round three. 


Division 4 North West 

Footscray Red vs. Fitzroy Maroon

Fitzroy Maroon got their second win on the board with a hard-fought victory over Footscray Red. The Bulldogs are now 1-1 and will visit North Coburg Maroon on Sunday, while the Lions host Footscray's blue team.

The Rebels managed to put a few runs on the board but it wasn't enough to put a dent in their deficit. Footscray Blue is now 1-1 as they prepare for Fitzroy, while North Coburg Maroon faces the other Footscray side on Sunday.

In a battle of the two Mitchell Majors teams, the reigning premiers on the Yellow side lost their first game of the season. Looking ahead to round three, Mitchell Majors Black hosts North Coburg Rebels Gold while Mitchell Majors Yellow takes on Essendon Jets.
