Round two of the 2019/20 VSBL Women's Division 1, 2 and 3 seasons featured some brilliant matchups with terrific team efforts. This stage is set for this summer to feature awesome games every week with talented, hardworking women's teams putting their best efforts in on the field. 

Women's Division 1 

Footscray Bulldogs vs. Essendon Bombers

Essendon was eager to get a win on the board after their 7-7 draw vs. Doncaster in the first round, and they made it happen on Saturday morning as they faced Footscray in a big matchup. 

This was Footscray's first game of the season after a forfeit in round one, and they fought hard but couldn't quite come away with the win. 

A 7-7 draw was the final result after a hard-fought game on both sides. Springvale's lineup came in on a mission to win, and they came close but couldn't quite pull away for a huge victory. 

Now their attention turns to round three when both teams will look to secure wins on this upcoming weekend, as Doncaster heads to Footscray and Springvale visits Essendon for two intense matchups showcasing some of the best in Victorian women's baseball.

Doncaster's lineup got the job done, racking up the runs in a huge effort against Fitzroy. In their first two games, the Dragons have scored 29 runs while holding their opponents to just six runs. In their first season in Women's Division 2, The Lions are working hard, and the team will look to record their first victory in round three as they visit Footscray. Doncaster hosts Wheelers Hill for a big game in round three.

The Bulldogs came out on top in this battle, as their defence held on to shut down the Bombers and secure the victory, their first of the season. Now 1-1, Footscray will host Fitzroy this weekend, while the Bombers search for their first win as they play Springvale at home.

This tight matchup saw Springvale narrowly escape with the win, a welcome result after their 12-0 shutout victory to start the season against Fitzroy. Now 2-0, Springvale heads to Essendon on Saturday, while the 1-1 Warriors look ahead to Doncaster in round three. 


Women's Division 3 - East


Doncaster Dragons vs. Moorabbin Panthers

After a first-round bye, Moorabbin opened their season with a fantastic win. Kat Morris pitched brilliantly over the full seven innings and Caitlin Bann gave her team a boost with two hits. Moorabbin meets up with Springvale - fresh off a bye - this weekend while Doncaster hosts Melbourne for a big game. 

Melbourne Demons vs. Waverley Wildcats

The Demons were a force to be reckoned with as they worked their way to a solid second victory of the season. Waverley scored some runs but not enough to avoid two straight losses. The Wildcats are not deterred, ready for a win as they host Sandringham on Saturday, while Melbourne pays a visit to Doncaster. 

Women's Division 3 - South

Bonbeach St Chads White vs. Berwick City Cougars

Bonbeach White managed a few runs but that was about it as Berwick City recorded an exciting first victory. The Cougars are feeling good heading into their round three matchup vs. 2-0 Cheltenham, which will be a tough yet exciting game, while Bonbeach White hosts Pakenham Pumas White. 


Bonbeach St Chads Blue vs. Sandringham Royals

The Royals showed plenty of potential despite their loss to Bonbeach Blue, which is now 2-0 along with Cheltenham. Bonbeach Blue will go for three in a row against Pakenham Black this weekend. 


Pakenham Pumas Black vs. Cheltenham Rustlers

The Rustlers are on a roll! After winning their first game 17-7 over Sandringham, Cheltenham got an even bigger advantage against Pakenham Pumas Black, winning by 20 runs. 


The Rustlers are looking to continue their solid start to the season against Berwick City, while Pakenham Pumas Black searches for a win against Bonbeach Blue.


Women's Division 3 - West

Geelong Baycats Blue vs. Fitzroy Lions

This high-scoring affair went in Geelong's favour as the Baycats bats were uncontrollable once again. Geelong Blue has scored 34 runs in their first two games, a pattern the team will hope to continue as they sit atop the ladder and prepare to face Sunshine. Fitzroy heads to take on Geelong Baycats White this weekend. 

Geelong Baycats White vs. North Western Titans

In a terrific game of offensive production on both sides, Geelong Baycats White and North Western Titans drew at 15. Both teams battled hard, keeping their bats in action but at the end of the game neither side could pull ahead to avoid the draw. Geelong and North Western both know they can rack up the runs if they get started off right, and that's what they will look to do moving forward this season.
