Washouts in Finals
Baseball Victoria has reviewed of the impact of washouts in the current finals schedule. Applying the Playing Conditions and By-Laws, Baseball Victoria considered the impact and precedent this decision creates for the remainder of the finals series.
Baseball Victoria has determined that finals games resulting in washouts will not be rescheduled in the 2020/21 VSBL Hybrid Season (excluding grand finals and 3-game finals series).
As such, the higher qualified team advances in the finals draw.
Division 2 Firsts – Result Investigation
Baseball Victoria has recently reviewed the result of the Newport v St Kilda match (Saturday, 13 March 2021) in which the match sheet was signed determining a 16-2 win to Newport. The review noted that four innings were played before rain resulted in a stop of play.
As per the playing conditions for a Division Two Firsts game, Rule 34 Game Duration, a legal game requires a minimum of five innings.
As such, Baseball Victoria has deemed this regular season game result to be a washout.
