Baseball Victoria is pleased to announce the 2020 Youth Women’s State Team.
The 2020 Youth Women’s State Team will represent Victoria at the 2020 Australian Youth Women’s Championships from 11-16 April in Canberra.
Ursula Howard will return as head coach for the fourth consecutive year as the Youth Women’s team looks to build on a bronze medal finish last year and a gold medal win in 2018.
“We have a terrific, experienced leader in Ursula Howard and a talented group of athletes who will be working hard in the next few months to prepare for the championships,” Baseball Victoria Talent Development Manager Damian Shanahan said. “We’re confident that this will be a fantastic opportunity for these girls to continue to develop and compete at a high level.”
Howard is looking forward to working with this team of bright and determined athletes and having a positive impact on them as their coach. “We have a lot of raw new talent this year, lots of athletic young girls who will be great additions to the team,” Howard said. “We've also been lucky to keep a few girls who were pivotal to last year's efforts like Lily Bell-Tanner, Ruby Dale, Keeley Harrison and Felicity Clissold among others. Our goal is to bring out the best in each player's ability, and finish among the medals again.”
16 players make up the Victorian Youth Women’s State Team. The team also includes several players who will take part in the development squad as they continue their training, part of Baseball Victoria’s commitment to establishing a bright future for the Youth Women’s State Team Program.
