Keeping the game scoreless until the 5th, Australia pulled ahead of the Netherlands and won their first game of the 21U IBAF World Cup 10-1.

Scoring five runs in the 5th inning, a result of aggressive base running, singles to Aaron Sayers and Jacob Younis and a triple from Zach Shepherd, gave Australia the advantage they needed. With the Netherlands only putting one run on the board, Australia continued to up their score count with three in the 8th and two in the 9th scoring ten runs from eleven hits.

Manager Tony Harris was happy with the result, "We started slow, but after scoring five run in the 5th we got the bats going and were able to get into their bullpen. The team gave a solid workman like performance, which gave a good result; we pitched well and ran the bases aggressively. We need to continue that mentality into tomorrow’s game.

The atmosphere with the team is good, even after a loss yesterday the guys have come together as a ball club. The older guys are setting a good example for the younger players and there is a good balance amongst the group".
