Baseball Victoria State Winter Championships Update – 28 July 2021

Baseball Victoria
28 July 2021

Following the easing of statewide lockdown restrictions and consultations with the relevant stakeholders, Baseball Victoria has confirmed the Under 16 State Winter Championships will proceed as planned in Sale this weekend.

The event, set for Saturday 31 July and 1 August 2021, will include less than 300 participants, which is the limit for outdoor activity. There will be no spectators in line with government restrictions.

Parents and guardians can attend with their minor participants, and those participants must travel and accommodate in their family group.  It is strongly recommended that a single parent or guardian be in attendance with their minor participant.  Dependants of that parent/guardian, another minor person where they cannot be left alone while the parent/guardian provides supervision to the minor participant are permitted to attend.   The parent or guardian or dependants in attendance will be required to social distance and always wear a mask.

The current easing of restrictions does not allow for players/teams to stay together as a group in shared accommodation formats.

COVID protocols will be applied across the event, with clear signage posted at facility entries and exits, dugouts, toilets, first aid, umpire areas, and the canteen.

Masks must always be worn indoors and outdoors, except for when players are on the field during the game and may need to run. When players are in the dugout, they will be required to wear masks. Coaches must always wear masks and all participants can elect to wear a mask on the field if they wish to do so.

Social distancing will be maintained at the championships, with the gap of 1.5metres established for parents/guardians, scorers, participants (where possible), event staff and volunteers.

Participants, parents/guardians, and dependant family members attending the event should NOT attend if they are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, chills or sweats, or change in sense of smell or taste. Anyone who has attended an exposure site and is currently required by the Victorian Government to be in isolation, or has not yet been cleared to exit their current isolation period, must not attend.
