Competition heating up at the Under 18 Champs

All the games played yesterday at the 2015 Under 18 National Youth Championships were won by only one run. Competition is heating up with all teams fighting for a chance to play in the finals on the weekend. 

ACT v New South Wales

Going into the 9th the ACT versus New South Wales game was tied up two runs each,  a single from James McCallum scored the runner on third to win the game for New South Wales 3-2.  Each team was able to get numerous hits on the board, but not able to convert these into runs resulting in a low scoring game.

South Australia v Western Australia

Western Australia secured the lead in the early innings and was able to hold onto it for the majority of the game, ending in a win over South Australia 6-5.  Tomas Swinson, Jake Turnbull and Daniel Bourke hit doubles for WA, with Daniel Bourke also going two from two.

Country NSW v Victoria White

Securing their first win of the championships, Victoria White was victorious over Country NSW 10-9.  With Country leading the scoreboard most of the game it wasn’t until the 7th that Vic White came alive, scoring ten runs from ten hits.

Queensland v Victoria Blue

Queensland continue to fight to defend their title from the 2014 National Youth Championships.  With sixteen hits they were able to put seven runs on the board for a win against Victoria Blue 7-6.

Round Robin play will conclude at the end of the day today, teams will then be ranked, with semi-final play starting tomorrow and finals on Sunday.
