One of the oldest Clubs in Victoria and long heralded as the ‘family Club’, Fitzroy Baseball Club is set to make history this weekend as they name three Wilsons to start their Division-1 game against Geelong.

Carl Wilson (son of Life Member Chris Wilson) will be joined by his younger cousins Tom and Ben (sons of Life Member Peter Wilson) in Fitzroy’s starting nine for the first time.

The three boys did appear in a game together briefly against Werribee last season when Ben Wilson was put into the game as a defensive replacement. This was the game that famously included an unassisted triple-play (sorry Werribee).

Provided Fitzroy start as named (and the rain stays away), Carl Wilson, the eldest of the three and regular first nine starter will start in left field: Tom another first nine regular will start in centre field while the youngest of the Wilsons and Division 2 Seconds premiership player Ben, (more affectionately known as 5-tool) will make a start at second base.

Sunday’s game will mark Fitzroy’s return to Division 1 baseball and looks set to be a memorable one for the Club and the Wilson family. Best of luck to the boys.
