09 February 2015

In their fourth game of the 2015 Phoenix Cup, the Australian U18 Women’s team defeated Taipei Yu-Sheng HighMatch Women's Baseball Team from Taiwan 19-10.

With Elarna Spinks on the hill, Taipei came out swinging in the first inning, scoring five runs. The Aussies fought hard and responded with eleven of their own runs in the first, a result of some great at bats.

Keeping the girls scoreless in the second, Taipei kept the competition tight and by the top of the third the score was 10-11. Australia switched on their hitting in the third, including a huge hit from Kelsey Brennan and an in the park home run from Olivia Bannon. The Aussies took out the win with a 19-10 scoreline, finishing them in second place in their pool.

They will play for the Bronze medal today at 11:30 am Hong Kong time (2:30 AEDT) against Guri-City NineVics from Korea.
