The Championships will
be hosted in Trinity
Beach, Cairns from 29
September - 4 October 2014.
Baseball
Australia have extended the age group from under 23 to under 25 based on
feedback and a vision to provide further opportunity for players to
represent their State. With moving the Championships to September
this also allows this event to be open to players returning from
professional and college tenures in the US.
Both Baseball Australia and Baseball Victoria view this
program as an integral step in a player’s pathway of
development . This age group allows players that are devolved and
ones that may develop at a later age an extended opportunity to be at
the forefront of scouts and officials involved with the Melbourne
Aces , professional baseball and US
college programs. A view that maximises opportunities
for all levels of players.
Kerry Gassner will again be the
Head Coach of this program, with Dean Marnell as his Assistant Coach and other
coaching staff to be named in the coming weeks.
At the end of these trials, an extended squad will be
announced . In August the finalising of the roster will
occur as well as the training sessions for preparation of the
championships
This process has been undertaken to allow players selected
in that extended squad an opportunity to ease the burden of cost allowing them
to save and prepare instead of leaving until the last month which has occurred
on previous occasions.
All players currently playing

COST:
The costs associated for players
selected will be confirmed once further details are received from Baseball
Australia.
At the end of the trials in June, the
extended squad will be selected. Each player selected in this squad
will be required to pay $500 by 31 July 2014. Players not selected in the
squad will have this amount refunded.
The balance needs to be paid by Friday 19 September 2014.
Should extenuating circumstances arise, a
suitable payment plan may be negotiated with Baseball Victoria
no later than Monday 1 September 2014.
An increase of 10% will be applied if
payment is not finalised by 19 September unless a payment plan is in place. All
applications for a payment plan must be in writing and sent via email to Ashley
Blair at ashley.blair@baseballvictoria.com.au.
In the event of withdrawal from the State Program
due to injury or other unforeseeable circumstances prior to 12
September 2014 a full refund will be provided.
However,
if there is any withdrawal after this date, refunds will be determined by Baseball Victoria at the time of the withdrawal.
UNIFORM & EQUIPMENT FOR TRIALS:
All players are requested not to
wear a club or association uniform cap or top. Please wear suitable baseball
clothing and a training top or tee-shirt. Players need to bring all personal
baseball equipment for their positions including, gloves, helmet, bat, full
catcher’s equipment, etc. Drinks and sunscreen are not supplied during the
trials.
FINAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
You must attend
selection trials as set out above and all further sessions as advised, or
for overseas players, advise us of your intention to participate at this
tournament.
· You
must be a current member of Baseball Victoria to be eligible to compete.
·
You must be 24 years of age or younger on the first day of the tournament.
You must be financial.
