Cronulla, Northern Metros and Ryde Red collected two wins each on day one of the 2019 Australian Little League Championship in Lismore on Thursday.

Hills Red 11, Gold Coast Cougars 8 | Box Score

Phoenix McFarland homered and finished with five runs batted in as Hills Red toppled Gold Coast Cougars 11-8.

Hills raced to an 8-1 lead after three innings and withstood a late charge from the Cougars.

Max Durrington drove in two runs for Gold Coast.

 

Eastern Phantoms 12, Adelaide Rays 1 | Box Score

Steady offence powered Eastern Phantoms to a 12-0 win over Adelaide Rays in their Pool B opener.

The Phantoms raced to an 8-0 lead after three innings on their way to an impressive win.

Starting pitcher Toby Franklin worked three tidy innings, striking out two batters.

Riley Oliphant and Ben Crook each drove in two runs for Eastern.

 

Far North Coast 9, Central Firebirds 4 | Box Score

Far North Coast scored five unanswered runs to record a 9-4 win over Central Firebirds on day one of #ALLC2019.

Alex Poole’s two-run single powered FNC to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first before the Firebirds fought back.

But Far North Coast finished strongly to make a strong start.

Poole finished with three runs batted in and Michael Maher recorded three hits.

 

Cronulla 11, Twins 10 | Box Score

Cronulla withstood a fast finish from Twins to record a thrilling 11-10 win on diamond two.

Twins scored eight runs in the fourth to pull within a run after Cronulla raced out to an 11-2 lead.

Sam Levick finished with a team-high three hits for Cronulla.

Twins’ Hamish Stone drove in three runs.

 

Ryde Red 15, Brisbane North 0 | Box Score

Ryde Red made a bright start to #ALLC2019, overpowering Brisbane North 15-0 in their Pool D opener.

Ryde scored eight runs in the bottom of the first and added to its advantage throughout.

Joshua Nati recorded three runs batted in.

Alasdair Ballantyne picked up six strikeouts on the mound.

 

Adelaide Marlins 6, Southern Mariners 4 | Box Score

Aiden Lucas homered as Adelaide Marlins topped Southern Mariners in their Pool A clash on diamond one.

Lucas went deep and Alistair Tanner drove in three runs to power the Marlins’ offence.

Runs in the fifth and sixth lifted Adelaide to victory after the Mariners tied the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth.

 

Northern Metros 7, Twins 4 | Box Score

Kristian Haeusler struck out five batters and Chloe Atkinson drove in two runs as Northern Metros topped Twins in their #ALLC2019 opener.

A four-run bottom of the fifth lifted the Metros to a 7-4 win in the Pool C clash.

 

Cronulla 12, Canberra 0 | Box Score

A nine-run fifth powered Cronulla to a 12-0 win over Canberra in their second pool game at #ALLC2019.

Lachlan Vella led the way with three runs batted in.

Starter Zac Curtis struck out seven batters and Damien Wilson punched out five in relief.

 

Manly 15, Eastern Athletics 5 | Box Score

Manly rode a nine-run second to a 15-5 win over Eastern Athletics on day one of #ALLC2019.

James Greeg led the offence with three runs batted in on two hits and Cameron Goddard also picked up a pair of hits.

 

Brisbane North 8, Central Firebirds 7 | Box Score

Brisbane North was rewarded for a fast start, collecting an 8-7 win over Central Firebirds in their second game of #ALLC2019.

Hayden Dingli’s three RBIs and 11 strikeouts helped North level its record at 1-1 after earlier losing to Ryde Red.

 

Ryde Red 12, Far North Coast 2 | Box Score

Ryde Red improved to 2-0 with a 12-2 win over Far North Coast in day one #ALLC2019 action.

Simon Slapeta drove in three runs for Ryde and Joshua Nati collected four strikeouts on the mound.
