Twenty-five Australian players aged 15-18 will compete against some the best emerging talent in the US in Fort Myers, Florida, this week.

The squad will play exhibition games ahead of taking part in the invite-only WWBA 18U East Memorial Day Classic under a partnership with Perfect Game, the biggest tournament and showcase operator in the US.

Team Australia general manager Glenn Williams said the trip was a fantastic opportunity for the 25 young athletes.

“Gaining international pathway opportunities is something that is high on the agenda of the majority of our young athletes,” Williams said.

“This trip and the opportunity to partner with Perfect Game will be a great opportunity for those on the trip.
“Access to amazing facilities, the ability to compete against some of the best young players in the US and to do that in front of recruiters and scouts from colleges and professional teams will highlight the trip.”

Williams, Shayne Watson (QLD), Mark Shipley (NSW) and Adam Courcha (WA) will lead the 25-strong squad.

The squad touched down in the US over the weekend and will take part in the WWBA 18U East Memorial Day Classic from May 24-27.
