Check out match reports from week one of the 2016 MLB Australian Academy Program.

 

Day 1: Crocs 5-4 Roos

Crocs:
Rixon Wingrove (NSW) & Ulrich Bojarski (WA) claimed two hits each for the Crocs, while Jack O'Loughlin (SA) (2IP, 1H, 2K) and Lochlan Southee (WA) (2IP, 1H, 1K) threw strongly.

Roos:
For the Roos, Shane Kelleher (NSW) picked up two hits and an RBI, while Alex Hall (WA) also drove in a run. Josh Bedggood (QLD) and Liam Holm (NSW) combined to threw four shutout innings, while Jackson Riley (WA) struck out a game high four hitters.

 

Day 2: Roos 12-8 Crocs

Roos: Declan Steel (SA) and Maclain Wilson (WA) threw strongly in the final four innings, giving up only two earned runs and striking out seven hitters. Jason Matthews (NZ) hit a three run homer, while Dawson Summers (WA) also picked up a pair of hits and an RBI.

Crocs: David John (WA) went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Ulrich Bojarski (WA), Jacob Nilsson (QLD) and Rixon Wingrove (NSW) each picked up two hits. Elliott Johnstone (NZ) threw two shutout innings for the Crocs, striking out two.

Day 3: Roos 11-10 Crocs

Crocs: Ulrich Bojarski (WA) picked up three RBIs in a strong offensive performance, while Rixon Wingrove (NSW) nailed a home run and Nick Anderson-Vine (NSW) claimed two RBIs from his three hits. Duane Johannsen cooled the Roos' offence in the final two frames, throwing two hitless innings.

Roos: Liam Taylor (QLD) and Jordon Thomson (QLD) lead the Roos offence with two RBIs each, while Ciaran Palmer (VIC) also had a pair of hits and an RBI. Kyle Glogoski (NZ) and Alex Osborne (NSW) struck out three hitters each.

 

Day 4: Crocs 3-3 Roos

Crocs: Jack O'Loughlin (SA) got the Crocs off to the best possible start, throwing two shutout innings, and fanning two Roos hitters. David John (WA) also threw a perfect final inning for the Crocs, claiming two strikeouts. Hits were hard to come by for both teams, with Alex Barling (VIC) the only player to claim a hit and an RBI during the game.

Roos: The Roos pitching staff were in a similar mood, only giving up four hits on the day. Liam Holm (NSW) and Jackson Riley (WA) both picked up a pair of Ks, while Jess Williams (WA) picked up a hit and a stolen base. Dermot Fritsch picked up the Roos' only earned run with a sacrifice bunt.

Day 5: Roos 12-7 Crocs

Roos: Ciaran Palmer (VIC) had one of the strongest offensive outings of the tournament, with his two hits driving in four runs. Jess Williams (WA) picked up three hits leading off for the Roos, while Josh Bedggood (QLD) claimed a two run home run. Oliver Howitt (NSW) struck out two in two perfect innings of relief, while Maclain Wilson (WA) fanned five hitters in two innings.

Crocs: Nick Anderson-Vine (NSW) exploded offensively, claiming three hits and four RBIs in a strong performance. Jacob Nilsson (QLD) also picked up a pair of hits. Elliott Johnstone (NZ) went two hitless innings on the mound, while Josh Robins (NSW) struck out three.

 

Day 6: Roos 7-1 Crocs

Roos: Shane Kelleher (NSW) nailed a pair of hits and drove in a run, while Ciaran Palmer (VIC) continued his form, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Roos. Alex Osborne (NSW) struck out three in two innings of shutout relief, while Kyle Glogoski (NZ) sat down three in two hitless innings of work.

Crocs: The Crocs' offense failed to fire today, with Harry Fullerton (NSW), Mitch Edwards (ACT) and Brock Wells (VIC) the only three players to pick up hits. Duane Johannsen (QLD) threw two strong hitless innings, while Ky Hampton (SA) also had a solid day on the mound, striking out one in two shutout innings.
