The 2021 Senior, Junior, and Intermediate League State Championships finished at Werribee Baseball Club on Sunday with four thrilling grand finals.

Little League Major
Southern Mariners 8 v Twins 7
The Twins made a great effort to come back from down five runs in the sixth inning but came up just short, falling 8-7 to Southern Mariners on Sunday. Twins scored four runs in the failed comeback on a double by Lachlan Brennan, a double by Oliver Baillargeon, and a double by Cooper Bishop-Worn.
Twins was right in it until Southern Mariners singled in the fifth inning.
Southern Mariners got things started in the first inning when Harrison Brodie reached on a dropped third strike.
In the top of the third inning, Southern Mariners tied things up at two. An error scored one run for Southern Mariners.
After Southern Mariners scored four runs in the top of the sixth, Twins answered with four of their own. Southern Mariners scored when Jack Thomas doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Jarvis Johansen grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run for Southern Mariners. Twins then answered when Brennan doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, Baillargeon doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Bishop-Worn doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Brooklyn Riwaka was on the pitcher's mound for Southern Mariners. Riwaka lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking zero.

The game against Eastern Athletics was a heartbreaker for Twins, as they lost the lead late in an 11-9 defeat. The game was tied at six with Eastern Athletics batting in the top of the fifth when Evan Maury doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Twins collected eight hits and Eastern Athletics had ten in the high-scoring affair.

Southern Mariners defeated Eastern Athletics 8-0 on Sunday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Tyler Ellis struck out Ned Hargreaves to finish off the game.
Southern Mariners secured the victory thanks to five runs in the second inning. Thomas Yuile, Lachlan Smith, Charlie Pierson, and Ellis all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Southern Mariners got on the board in the second inning when Yuile singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

A 12-run fourth inning led Twins to a 17-2 victory on Sunday. Patariki Pouaka-Grego, Nathan Rumbelow, Hudson Pallay, Jake Fesili, Dylan Brooks, and Lachlan Schumann all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Twins got things started in the first inning. Pouaka-Grego drove in two when Pouaka-Grego homered.
Twins put up 12 runs in the fourth inning. Twins put the pressure on, lead by walks by Rumbelow, Fesili, and Brooks, singles by Pallay and Andrew Land, fielder's choices by Schumann and Pouaka-Grego, an error on a ball put in play by Pouaka-Grego and Pallay, and a double by Rumbelow.
Pallay toed the rubber for Twins. Pallay surrendered two runs on two hits over four innings, striking out eight.
Cooper Laurie was on the mound for Geelong Baycats. The bulldog allowed four hits and five runs over three innings, striking out three. Cade White threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen.

Southern Mariners scored on a stolen base by Noah Koulaouzos-Chun in the first inning, a single by Soi Ogawa in the first inning, and a single by Zach Dunkley in the second inning.
The Eastern Athletics struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Southern Mariners, giving up ten runs.

Liam Puncher started the game for Southern Mariners. The bulldog allowed seven hits and nine runs over four and a third innings, striking out five. Miller Leech threw two and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.

Eastern Athletics defeated Twins 11-7 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at seven with Eastern Athletics batting in the bottom of the fifth when Peter Li singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Eastern Athletics earned the victory despite allowing Twins to score four runs in the fifth inning. William Cashen, Jai Di Blasi, and Patrick Matthews each had RBIs in the frame.
Eastern Athletics took an early lead in the first inning. Declan Marshall drove in one when Marshall doubled.
