2025 Little League State Championships Day 1 Recap

The 2025 Little League State Championships got underway at Knox Baseball Club on Friday 11 April, with 55 games scheduled through Sunday across Intermediate League, Little League Major, Little League Development, and Little League Minor.

Little League Major

Mariners 9, Athletics 5

Mariners outlasted Athletics 9-5 on Friday at Diamond 3. They got on board in the second inning after Cooper H singled down the right field line, Max M walked, and Edward S singled down the left field line. A wild pitch, hit by pitch, and single by Flynn R each scored a run, too.

Mia W opened the game for Mariners, giving up four hits and one run (zero earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none.

Oscar A stepped on the mound first for Athletics. The hurler surrendered three hits and seven runs over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking eight.

Edward, Beau R, and Flynn each appeared in relief for Mariners.

Dallas H, Edward, Flynn, and Cooper each collected one hit for Mariners, with RBIs for Edward, Elliot A, Flynn, and Cooper. The team totalled 10 walks as Max and Mia led with two bases on balls each.

Levi D drove the middle of the lineup, leading Athletics with two runs batted in as the infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Audrey C led with three hits in three at-bats and also stole two bases.

Athletics were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Alex P made the most plays with eight.

Twins 9, Rangers 5

Twins took down Rangers 9-5 on Friday. Rangers opened scoring in the first after Tate S lined out, scoring one run.

Twins flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on seven hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a ground out by Billy H that drove in one.

Lucas E led things off on the bump for Twins. The starter gave up three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out three and walking seven. Brodie L and Oliver C each appeared in relief.

Tate started on the mound for Rangers. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking two.

Twins tallied 11 hits in the game. Drayden J, Oliver, and Myles M each collected two hits while Billy, Isaac L, David R, Thomas M, Ry V, and Drayden each drove in one run.

Twins had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Jaxon W and Lucas led the team with two walks each. The defense turned one double play with no fielding errors. Billy had the most chances in the field with seven.

Carter M led Rangers with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. Carter went 1-for-3 on the day. Patrick L led Rangers with two hits in two at-bats.

Rangers had patience at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Aiden J and Callum D led the team with two free passes each. Tate stole two bases. The defense was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Nathaniel K made the most plays with five.

Mariners 12, Mets 2

Mariners defeated Mets 12-2 on Friday thanks in part to eight runs in the fourth inning.

Leon K and Griffin L singled, while Beau R and Cooper H drew walks, each scoring one run. A wild pitch followed by an error scored two more before bases-loaded walks to Oscar C and Fletcher A.

Mets got on board in the top of the first inning after Harvey N singled to center field and Mariners made an error, each scoring one run.

Leon doubled to right field, which helped Mariners tie the game at two in the bottom of the first. They scored two more in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to center field by Quinn M.

Griffin stepped on the hill first for Mariners. The pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking none.

Harvey began the game for Mets. The starter gave up four hits and five runs over three innings, striking out four and walking seven.

Quinn provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mariners with two runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-3 on the day. Leon, Griffin, and Quinn each collected two hits while the team’s strong eye at the plate generated 13 walks. Beau, Flynn R, Oscar, Mia W, and Cooper led the team with two walks each.

Beau, Leon, and Griffin each stole multiple bases for Mariners. They ran wild on the base paths, piling up nine stolen bases for the game.

Harvey led Mets with one run batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-2 on the day.

Twins 23, Mets 5

Jaxon W collected three hits in three at-bats, as Twins defeated Mets 23-5 on Friday. Jaxon singled in the first, second, and fifth innings.

Twins got on board in the top of the first inning after Jaxon singled to left field and Brodie L and Myles M doubled to left field. Billy H grounded out and Drayden J walked, each scoring one run.

Twins added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Oliver C walked and Myles singled to left field, each scoring two runs.

Twins scored 11 runs on seven hits in the top of the fifth inning. Lucas E homered to left field, scoring two runs, while Ry V,  Joshua J, and Oliver drew bases-loaded walks. Brodie hit an RBI single, Myles hit a 2-RBI double, and Billy had an RBI single. Twins stole home and took another bases-loaded walk before the inning was over.

Billy stepped on the hill first for Twins. The starter gave up two hits and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking none. David R, Drayden, and Myles all appeared in relief.

Owen D stepped on the bump first for Mets. The starter allowed seven hits and nine runs over two innings, striking out two and walking seven.

Twins tallied 17 hits in the game. Brodie, Jaxon, and Myles each collected three hits while Billy and Lucas drove in two runs apiece. Thomas M batted 2-for-2 and Oliver led with three of the team’s 18 total walks.

Billy, Brodie, Isaac L, David, Thomas, Ry, Oliver, Jaxon, Lucas, and Myles each stole multiple bases for Twins. The defense didn't commit a single error in the field as Joshua had the most chances with five.

Henry T led Mets with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-2 on the day. Jax M and Henry each collected two hits while Mets had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.

Intermediate League

Athletics 16, Mariners 1

Jack D drove in four runs on three hits to lead Athletics past Mariners 16-1 on Friday at Diamond 2. Jack doubled in the second inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring two more.

Mariners got on the board in the first inning after Gene B grounded out, scoring one run. Athletics took the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first thanks to singles by Evangelynn L and Haydn D.

Athletics scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Jack doubled and Charlie F singled, each scoring two runs. Next, Evangelynn grounded out, scoring one run, and Joshua M homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Athletics scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Hao (Tony) H singled, scoring one run, Henry S induced Taketo F to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Jack singled, scoring two runs, and Jackson B doubled, scoring one run.

Phillip T stepped on the hill first for Athletics. The hurler surrendered zero hits and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out five and walking one.

Dean R started on the hill for Mariners. The pitcher surrendered four hits and four runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two.

Evangelynn tossed one and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Athletics in relief. The hurler gave up one hit, striking out three and walking none.

Athletics tallied 14 hits in the game. Hao (Tony) and Haydn each collected multiple hits. Evangelynn and Jack each stole multiple bases with eight total for the team.

Gene led Mariners with one run batted in. Leo W and Spencer E each collected one hit while the defense was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Samuel W made the most fielding plays with four.

Athletics 17, Rangers 2

Athletics defeated Rangers 17-2 on Friday thanks in part to nine runs in the second inning. Alexander K singled, scoring two runs, Liam C induced Jack D to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, and Jackson B singled, scoring one run. Evangelynn L singled, Joshua M grounded out, Haydn D singled, and Phillip T drew a walk, each adding one run.

Athletics got on board in the top of the first inning after Evangelynn singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Phillip grounded out, scoring one run.

Athletics extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI errors by Hao (Tony) H and Taketo F.

Charlie F stepped on the hill first for Athletics. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one.

Ian K stepped on the bump first for Rangers. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and five runs (three earned) over one inning, striking out two and walking two.

Alexander tossed one inning of no-run ball for Athletics in relief. The hurler surrendered three hits, striking out three and walking none.

Evangelynn, Alexander, and Joshua each drove in two runs for Athletics. Jackson, Evangelynn, Charlie, and Phillip stole multiple bases with 11 total in the game, plus eight walks.

Leadoff hitter Finn W led Rangers with two hits in two at-bats. Yuntae (Timmy) J went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

Mets 17, Twins 6

Hayden H drove in five runs on three hits to lead Mets past Twins 17-6 on Friday. Hayden doubled in the third inning, scoring two, and tripled in the fifth inning, scoring three.

Mets won thanks in part to nine runs in the fifth inning. Hayden tripled, scoring three runs, and Alex G singled, scoring one run. They added runs on a single by Toa R, a wild pitch, a base hit by Logan P, and a 2-RBI single by Lachlan P.

Mets jumped out to the lead in the top of the third inning after Lachlan drew a walk, scoring one run, Samuel P doubled, scoring two runs, Hayden doubled, scoring two runs, Alex singled, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Alex led things off on the mound for Mets. The hurler surrendered zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none.

Mason C stepped on the mound first for Twins. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking none.

Samuel pitched one inning of no-run ball for Mets in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out none and walking none.

Mets accumulated 12 hits in the game, including multiple for Toa and Alex. The team collected eight walks with two apiece for Samuel, Lachlan, and Heath D. Alex and Harvey V each stole multiple bases with nine total, plus a double play on defense.

Tommy K went 1-for-2 at the plate and led Twins with one run batted in. Jackson F, Tommy, Silas K, Tyler T, and Isaac D each collected one hit while the defense turned a double play.

Mariners 16, Mets 14

Bats were blistered as Mariners defeated Mets 16-14 on Friday. Mariners collected 16 hits, while Mets had 14. The winners came back despite trailing 12-7 in the sixth.

Mariners got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Leo W singled, Henry S grounded into a double play, and Kino O grounded out, each scoring one run.

Mets took the lead in the top of the second when Harvey V singled, scoring one run, Heath D doubled, scoring two runs, and Lachlan P drew a walk, scoring one run.

Mets added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Alex G singled to left field and Toa R grounded out, each scoring one run. Mariners took the lead, 7-6, in the bottom of the fourth thanks to two groundouts.

Mets flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 11-7. The biggest blow in the inning was an inside-the-park home run by Toa that drove in three.

Mariners flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring nine runs on seven hits to take the lead, 16-12. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Jasper H that drove in three.

Leo opened the game for Mariners. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and four runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Baxter M, Axel K, Madeline S, and Gene B appeared in relief.

Toa opened the game for Mets. The righty gave up 15 hits and 13 runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none.

Mariners tallied 16 hits in the game. Samuel W and Leo were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits, while Jasper had two runs batted in as the third baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Kino collected two hits in three at-bats, joining Leo with multiple stolen bases (eight total for the team).

Mets collected 14 hits. Toa drove the middle of the lineup, leading with five runs batted in. The pitcher went 3-for-4 on the day. Alex, Hayden H, and Leo N also had multiple hits, while Hayden, Logan P, Heath, and Harvey stole multiple bases to help the team reach 10 total. The defense turned two double plays in the game.

Rangers 15, Twins 0

Ca'Del S collected three hits in three at-bats as Rangers defeated Twins 15-0 on Friday. Ca'Del tripled in the first, singled in the third, and tripled again in the fourth.

Rangers got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Nolan J doubled, Hunter D was struck by a pitch, Ca'Del tripled to center field, and Angus M walked, each scoring one run.

Rangers extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Finn W and Yuntae (Timmy) J.

A dropped third strike and a groundout by Louise N helped Rangers extend their early lead in the third. They added five runs on four hits in the fourth inning. Finn singled, scoring one run, Yuntae (Timmy) tripled, scoring two runs, and Angus doubled, scoring one run.

Ca'Del led things off on the mound for Rangers. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking none.

Ayrton L stepped on the mound first for Twins. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and three runs (zero earned) over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking none.

Lee M tossed one and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball for Rangers in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit, striking out three and walking two.

Rangers totaled 10 hits in the game. Yuntae (Timmy) provided pop in the middle of the lineup, batting 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Finn also went 2-for-3 while Ian K paced Rangers with three of the team's eight walks. Ca'Del, Myles K, Lee, Finn, and Ian each stole multiple bases as Rangers had 16 total. The defense turned one double play.

Nathan M and Isaac D each collected one hit for Twins. Mason C stole two bases.
