21U Team ready to take on Japan

Baseball Victoria
06 November 2014

The 21U team has arrived safely in Taichung, Chinese Taipei in preparation for the 2014 21U IBAF World Cup held from 7 November to 16 November.

The first-ever 21U Baseball World Cup will feature eleven national teams in a forty-three game tournament. The teams have been split into two groups, who will play each other in their respective groups round robin style. The top three teams from each group will then advance to the super round robin, and the top two teams from this round will then play for gold.

Manager Tony Harris recently told the Australian Baseball Alumni that  “we know we have to finish in the top three after the Round Robin to reach the second round of cross-over games. We’ll be trying to win every game, starting with Japan first-up. We know that they are always strong defensively and are always a tough opponent with a team of high-quality professionals. Beating Japan would be huge, and it is definitely achievable.”

Their first game will take place on Friday 7 November at 12:30pm (Friday 7 November at 2:30pm AEST) versus world ranked number two (2) Japan.
