In blustery conditions, import Reese Gregory took the hill for Fitzroy in his first outing with the Lions. After retiring the first eight with relative ease, a two-out bottom of the third rally saw Newport plate the only three runs for the day off the bats of Tyson Foreman and Jimmy Jensen.

Tom Dicker and Alex Turlea led the Lions with two base knocks each while Gavin Juchnevicus and Reese Gregory picked up one each on a day the Lions just couldn’t get anything going.
