New to the 2026/27 VSBL season, Baseball Victoria are excited to introduce the Summer League Showcase!
The Summer League Showcase is here to highlight the talent across our summer competitions, promote our clubs and showcase special occasions throughout the season.
Our first highlight in the Showcase is Pakenham Pumas, with their women's games during their mental health round, hosted on World Mental Health Day. This round raised funds for mental health initiatives through sales of green playing socks, green accessories, green themed food and drinks and a BBQ fundraiser.
As a result of their fundraising efforts, Pakenham raised an amazing $715 for mental health initiatives!
On 10 October, Pakenham hosted Upwey Ferntree Gully and Research Lower Plenty, for Women's Regional East and Women's State 2 respectively. These matches saw players wearing green socks and ribbons to support the cause.
The Women's Regional East match saw Upwey take the win over Pakenham, 21-8, with Upwey scoring 7 runs per inning in the first 3 innings. At the same time, the Women's State 2 matchup had Research leading Pakenham, 18-7. We once again saw some high scoring innings coming from Research, assisting them with their win.
Well done to Pakenham Pumas for hosting a round for such an important cause. Stay tuned for more incoming Summer League Showcases throughout the season!
