After a rain delay forced the competition to Glenelg, Eastern Athletics went down fighting against Adelaide Rays in Day 2 of the 2019 Australian Junior League Championships.

Eastern Athletics Loses Lead Early in Defeat
Eastern Athletics fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 14-8 loss to Adelaide Rays in Pool C action on Monday. Adelaide Rays scored on a double by Ethan Kelsey in the first inning, a triple by Jordan Hodges in the first inning, and a single by Archie Lovelock in the second inning.
Despite the loss, Eastern Athletics did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Adelaide Rays had 12 hits on the way to victory.
The teams traded runs in the first inning ahead of the Rays scoring the next nine to break the contest open.
Archie Lovelock finished with a game-high four runs batted in for Adelaide.

Eastern Athletics tallied six runs in the fifth inning. Ned Hargreaves, Nicholas Parton, Harrison Elustondo, Ryan McCleery, and Matthew Johnston all drove in runs in the frame.
Adelaide Rays scored three runs in the seventh inning. Adelaide Rays scored its runs on a error by Kai Reid.
Hodges got the start for Adelaide Rays. They surrendered two runs on five hits over three and a third innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Parton led things off on the pitcher's mound for Eastern Athletics. They allowed five hits and four runs over two innings, striking out two. Hargreaves, Johnston, Jack Ratcliffe, and Blake Mitchell each entered the game as relief, throwing two innings, one and two-thirds innings, two-thirds of an inning, and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
Eastern Athletics tallied ten hits on the day. Ratcliffe, Parton, and James Squire all had multiple hits for Eastern Athletics. Squire, Parton, and Ratcliffe each collected two hits to lead Eastern Athletics.
Adelaide Rays had 12 hits in the game. Lovelock and Jet Clohessy all managed multiple hits for Adelaide Rays. Lovelock went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Adelaide Rays in hits.
