9.40pm Brisbane North claim first win of #AJLC2018

Pool A result: Brisbane North 10, Canberra 9

Joel Hogan’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Brisbane North to its first win of #AJLC2018.

Brisbane North overturned an early seven-run deficit to prevail 10-9 over Canberra in a thrilling Pool A contest on Diamond 1.

After cutting Canberra’s lead to three in the third, Brisbane North drew level in the fifth to set up a dramatic finish.

Hogan was the hero, driving in the winning run and finishing with four RBIs.

William Creighton drove in two runs for Canberra.


Joel Hogan’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Brisbane North to its first win of #AJLC2018.

Brisbane North overturned an early seven-run deficit to prevail 10-9 over Canberra in a thrilling Pool A contest on Diamond 1.

After cutting Canberra’s lead to three in the third, Brisbane North drew level in the fifth to set up a dramatic finish.

9.10pm Hills claim top-of-the-table Pool A contest

Pool A result: Hills 18, Twins 4

Hills outgunned Twins 18-4 in their top-of-the-table Pool A clash at #AJLC2018.

A three-run first put Hills on top early and they never surrendered the lead, adding 12 in the sixth after the Twins rallied.

Christos Lyberopoulos and Mitchell Tritton drove in three runs each and Harrison Wheeldon collected three hits.

William Edwards struck out five in relief.

The full Day 4 schedule will be released following the conclusion of the Canberra and Brisbane North on Diamond 1.

Hills outgunned Twins 18-4 in their top-of-the-table Pool A clash at #AJLC2018.

A three-run first put Hills on top early and they never surrendered the lead, adding 12 in the sixth after the Twins rallied.

Christos Lyberopoulos and Mitchell Tritton drove in three runs each and Harrison Wheeldon collected three hits.

William Edwards struck out five in relief.

The full Day 4 schedule will be released following the conclusion of the Canberra and Brisbane North on Diamond 1.

 

7.00pm Late homers lift Mariners in thriller against Ryde

Pool C result: Southern Mariners 17, Ryde Hawks 14

Bailey Harvey and James Lynch homered late to lift Southern Mariners to a 17-14 win over Ryde Hawks.

The Mariners scored six runs in the top of the seventh after losing the lead in the sixth, before shutting the door on the Hawks.

Ryde had scored eight in the fifth before taking the lead on a two-run single from Sebastian Miezis in the sixth.

But the Mariners responded to stay perfect in Pool C.

Nick Bertucci also homered for Southern.

Taj Barry and Peter Bae went deep for Ryde.


Bailey Harvey and James Lynch homered late to lift Southern Mariners to a 17-14 win over Ryde Hawks.

The Mariners scored six runs in the top of the seventh after losing the lead in the sixth, before shutting the door on the Hawks.

Ryde had scored eight in the fifth before taking the lead on a two-run single from Sebastian Miezis in the sixth.

But the Mariners responded to stay perfect in Pool C.

Nick Bertucci also homered for Southern.

Taj Barry and Peter Bae went deep for Ryde.


5.35pm Pirates seal top-two spot with win over Firebirds

Pool C result: Adelaide Pirates 16, Central Firebirds 6

Adelaide Pirates scored early runs and rode a strong start from Jude Barker to victory over Central Firebirds in their Pool C clash at #AJLC2018.

The Pirates put up six runs in the bottom of the first, going on to win 16-6 on Diamond 2.

Meanwhile, Barker struck out six in 4 1/3 innings on the mound.

The right-hander did not give up an earned run as he worked with an early lead.

Matthew George led the offence with five runs batted in on four hits.

Jaxon Limpus and Patrick Temby had two hits for the Firebirds.

Both teams will find out their match-ups for Day 4 after play wraps up today.

Adelaide Pirates scored early runs and rode a strong start from Jude Barker to victory over Central Firebirds in their Pool C clash at #AJLC2018.

The Pirates put up six runs in the bottom of the first, going on to win 16-6 on Diamond 2.

Meanwhile, Barker struck out six in 4 1/3 innings on the mound.

The right-hander did not give up an earned run as he worked with an early lead.

Matthew George led the offence with five runs batted in on four hits.

3.05pm Cronulla edge Waves in Pool B classic

Pool B result: Cronulla 9, Adelaide Waves 8

Cronulla collected its second Pool B win at #AJLC2018, holding off Adelaide Waves 9-8 in a tense battle on Diamond 1.

Jake Quinlivan homered and struck out six in 4 2/3 innings of work on the mound to help Cronulla to victory.

A four-run sixth headlined Cronulla’s win.

Quinlivan and Nathan Howarth both drove in two runs for Cronulla, while Max Stagg had three hits for the Waves.

 

Cronulla collected its second Pool B win at #AJLC2018, holding off Adelaide Waves 9-8 in a tense battle on Diamond 1.

2.35pm (Brisbane) Metro tops (Northern) Metros ...

Pool C result: Brisbane Metro 14, Northern Metros 9

Ryne Zaryc collected five RBIs as Brisbane Metro notched a 14-9 win in their Pool B clash against Northern Metros at #AJLC2018.

Zaryc’s RBI-single in the fifth broke a 4-4 tie and Metro withstood a late Metros comeback to record the win.

He added a double in the sixth, while Billy Richters also added a pair of RBIs.

Linden Richards struck out five in a 3 2/3 innings of relief work.

Owen Pilcher drove in a couple of runs for Northern Metros, who threatened with a five-run bottom of the sixth.

Brisbane North finished with a 2-1 record.

Their path for the rest of the event will be confirmed late tonight.

12.00pm Swan Hills top Pool D with 3-0 record

Pool D result: Swan Hills Aces 15, Eastern Athletics 10

Swan Hills Aces withstood a late Eastern Athletics rally to finish the opening round undefeated and on top of Pool D.

The Athletics cut the Aces’ lead to two runs in the top of the fifth, before Kai Cahill’s three-run homer gave Swan Hills a buffer.

The Aces’ 15-10 win was their third in Pool D.

Max Chipper also went deep, blasting a grand slam in the third.

Angus Stals and Charlie O’Connell hit home runs for Eastern.

10.50pm Macarthur finish pool play on a high

Pool D result: Macarthur 18, Far North Coast 1

Macarthur finished the opening round of #AJLC2018 with a 2-1 record following an impressive 18-1 win over Far North Coast on Diamond 2.

A six-run first inning and nine-run fourth lifted and strong start from Bailey Senior lifted Macarthur to victory.

Senior punched out three in 2 1/3 innings and also picked up a hit.

Samuel Jackson, Connor O’Sullivan and Toby Hughes all drove in a couple of runs.

 

Macarthur finished the opening round of #AJLC2018 with a 2-1 record following an impressive 18-1 win over Far North Coast on Diamond 2.

9.30am We're in a rain delay!

The rain has forced the players off both diamonds, we hope it passes quickly and we'll be back out there soon! Macarthur holds a 6-0 lead over Far North Coast on Diamond, while Eastern Athletics are 1-0 up against Swan Hills Aces in the bottom of the first on Diamond 1. We'll be back shortly!

The Swan Hills Aces will be after a third-straight win when they face Eastern Athletics in the opening game of the day on Diamond 1. Follow the action live on ABLtv.com from 9.15am

 

9.00am Macarthur and Far North Coast get Day 3 underway

Macarthur are chasing an important win against Far North Coast in the first game of Day 3. Follow the action here as Macarthur aim to improve their record to 2-1 and Far North Coast chase a first win of #AJLC2018.

 

8.45am Day 3 set to decide #AJLC2018 quarter finalists

Day 3 is 15 minutes away from starting here at West Beach. There is plenty to be decided with three of the four pools still wide open. It is quite likely tiebreakers will come into day at the end of the day - that's how close it is. Check out the schedule for both diamonds (using arrows on image) to see when and where your team plays!
