Southern Mariners will play for fifth spot at #AJLC2018 after recording an impressive 22-3 win over Brisbane Metro on Day 5.
Starter Genevieve Beacom allowed just one hit in four innings and the Mariners’ offence exploded in the fifth, piling on 16 runs.
James Lynch had four hits - including three doubles - and drove in six runs.
Tyler Ellis drove in three runs.
The Mariners will play Adelaide Pirates for fifth spot.

Tyrone Fergie worked 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and striking out eight, while Damian Eagles, Bailey Senior and Owen Glover drove in crucial runs.
Macarthur opened the scoring in the first, scoring on a hit by pitch and Senior groundball.
They added a third run an inning later when Eagles doubled to left field.
Nikau Pouaka-Grego’s two-run homer for Twins in the third cut the lead to one run.
A Glover single and error helped Macarthur restore a three-run buffer before Eagles drove in his second run of the night.

Adelaide Pirates overcame Adelaide Waves in a wild showdown between the two South Australian charters at #AJLC2018.
The Pirates raced to a 6-0 lead in the first, gave it up just as quickly, and then pulled away again to record a 15-13 victory on Diamond 2.
Sebastian Heintze-Unger led the Pirates with five hits, batting in a couple of runs.
Jet Clohessy had four RBIs and Matthew George finished with three.
Archie Lovelock, Tyson Schunke and Liam Westdijk drove in a couple of runs each for the Waves.
The Pirates will play for fifth spot tomorrow.

Campbell was dominant on the mound as Hills continued its unbeaten event with a 9-1 semi-final win over Swan Hills Aces on Diamond 1.
After giving up an unearned run in the first inning, Campbell stifled the Aces’ bats.
He gave up just two hits in six innings.
Hills’ offence gave him a lead to work with, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first.
They added two runs in the second and Courtney homered in the fourth to extend Hills’ lead to eight runs.
Hills will play the winner of tonight’s second semi-final between Twins and Macarthur.

Howarth also struck out four after starting on the mound.

FNC turned a 2-1 deficit into a five-run lead in the third on their way to an 11-6 win on Diamond 1.
George Cooper led Far North Coast’s offence, finishing with three runs batted in.
Reece Gallagher struck out three in one inning of relief work.
Rohan McDonough drove in a pair of runs for Canberra.
Canberra will battle for 15th spot tomorrow.

Welcome to our Day 5 coverage of #AJLC2018 presented by Bendigo Bank! We're down to four teams in the battle to see who will represent Australia Region at the 2018 Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan, later this year. Hills and Swan Hills Aces will square off in the first semi-final, followed by Twins and Macarthur. We also have a stack of consolation games which will set up tomorrow's placing playoffs.
