Well that is all we have on Day 1 of the Australian Senior League Championship presented by Bendigo Bank and Australian Intermediate League Championship. Cronulla and Western Suns have made bright starts to the Senior League tournament, while the Suns are 2-0 in Intermediate League. 8.15pm Twins bounce back to level record

#ASLC2018 results: Twins 10, Far North Coast 6

Twins levelled their record at 1-1 following Day 1 of #ASLC2018, taking down Far North Coast 10-6.

The Twins were led by four RBIs from Ryan Morrison as they bounced back from an earlier loss to the Western Suns.

Five early runs, and five late ones, were enough despite Far North Coast challenging.

Jacob Ponton impressed on the mound for Far North Coast, striking out four in 2 2/3 innings.

Twins levelled their record at 1-1 following Day 1 of #ASLC2018, taking down Far North Coast 10-6.

The Twins were led by four RBIs from Ryan Morrison as they bounced back from an earlier loss to the Western Suns.

7.55pm Titans pick up win to start #ASLC2018

#ASLC2018 result: Adelaide Titans 12, Western Meteors 2

Adelaide Titans used a pair of four-run frames to overcome Western Meteors 12-2 on Day 1 of #ASLC2018.

The Titans put up four runs in the top of the second and hit back immediately with four more an inning later after the Meteors cut two from their lead.

Ryan Przibilla drove in a couple of runs for Adelaide, which finished with five hits.

Meteors’ leadoff hitter Kyle Auhl picked up three hits.

Connor McLeod and Ethan Badcock each struck out five in relief for Titans.

 

Adelaide Titans used a pair of four-run frames to overcome Western Meteors 12-2 on Day 1 of #ASLC2018.

The Titans put up four runs in the top of the second and hit back immediately with four more an inning later after the Meteors cut two from their lead.

Ryan Przibilla drove in a couple of runs for Adelaide, which finished with five hits.

Meteors’ leadoff hitter Kyle Auhl picked up three hits.

Connor McLeod and Ethan Badcock each struck out five in relief for Titans.

 

4.45pm Suns' late-show seals second win

#ASLC2018 result: Western Suns 8, Twins 2

The Western Suns scored eight unanswered runs to topple the Twins 8-2 on Day 1 of #ASLC2018.

Twins led 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth before the Suns rallied to pick up a win in their opening game in Pool B.

Mitchell Schofield’s two-run double broke a 2-2 tie as the Suns produced a pair of four-run frames.

Schofield added a second two-double in the bottom of the sixth.

Harvey Hadlow led the Twins’ offence with two hits and struck out four in 3 2/3 innings.

The Western Suns scored eight unanswered runs to topple the Twins 8-2 on Day 1 of #ASLC2018.

Twins led 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth before the Suns rallied to pick up a win in their opening game in Pool B.

Mitchell Schofield’s two-run double broke a 2-2 tie as the Suns produced a pair of four-run frames.

Schofield added a second two-double in the bottom of the sixth.

Harvey Hadlow led the Twins’ offence with two hits and struck out four in 3 2/3 innings.

 

4.30pm Cronulla pitch in to no-hit Mariners

#ASLC2018 result: Cronulla 4, Southern Mariners 0

Cronulla maintained its perfect record at #ASLC2018 with Jake Burns, Myles Chabi and Kody Roberts combining to no-hit the Southern Mariners.

Burns worked four scoreless innings, striking out three, and Chabi and Roberts were flawless in relief.

Roberts, Bailey Curtis and William Fullerton each tallied two hits for Cronulla.

Cronulla opened the scoring on a Benjamin Jeffrey sacrifice fly and double the lead on an error.

Curtis and Roberts then hit back-to-back doubles to add two fourth-inning runs.

Cronulla maintained its perfect record at #ASLC2018 with Jake Burns, Myles Chabi and Kody Roberts combining to no-hit the Southern Mariners.

Michael De Gasperis picked up a couple of hits and struck out seven as Western Suns improved to 2-0 at #AILC2018.

De Gasperis allowed one unearned run in three innings and continued his damaging day with the bat as the Suns downed Manly 14-4 on Diamond 4.

An eight-run second highlighted the win.

Manly’s Jo-Wei Chang finished with a couple of RBI.

#AILC2018 result: Southern Mariners 8, Macarthur 6

Southern Mariners started their #AILC2018 campaign with a hard-fought win, edging Macarthur 8-6 on Diamond 3.

The Mariners trailed early but reeled off seven-straight runs before holding Macarthur at bay.

Lachlan Stevens led the way, driving in two runs on two hits.

Isaac Rameka finished with a team-high three hits for Macarthur.

Southern Mariners started their #AILC2018 campaign with a hard-fought win, edging Macarthur 8-6 on Diamond 3.

2.15pm Pearl helps Cronulla make perfect start

#ASLC2018 result: Cronulla 11, Hills 1

Joshua Pearl starred as Cronulla downed Hills 11-1 in its opening game of #ASLC2018 on Diamond 1.

Pearl struck out five in three scoreless innings and opened the scoring with a bases-loaded triple in the third.

It sparked a five-run inning as Cronulla built handy lead.

Hills hit back in the sixth before Cronulla iced the game with a six-run sixth.

Pearl finished with five runs batted in, while Jake Burns drove in three.

Hills’ starter Mitchell Vickery struck out five.

2.05pm Suns rally to open #ASLC2018 campaign on a high

#ASLC2018 result: Western Suns 21, Newcastle Eagles 5

Western Suns overturned an early deficit to defeat Newcastle and start their #ASLC2018 campaign with a win.

Trailing 5-4 on Diamond 2, the Suns scored six runs in the third and the final 17 of the game to complete a 21-5 victory.

A 10-run fifth was the icing on the cake for the Western Suns.

Mitchell Schofield and Jarred Hutchins each drove in five runs while Bailey Jay-Cooke collected three hits.

Joshua Bank had a team-high two hits for Newcastle.

Western Suns overturned an early deficit to defeat Newcastle and start their #ASLC2018 campaign with a win.

Trailing 5-4 on Diamond 2, the Suns scored six runs in the third and the final 17 of the game to complete a 21-5 victory.

A 10-run fifth was the icing on the cake for the Western Suns.

Mitchell Schofield and Jarred Hutchins each drove in five runs while Bailey Jay-Cooke collected three hits.

Joshua Bank had a team-high two hits for Newcastle.

12.05pm Suns shine in #AILC2018 action

#AILC2018 result: Western Suns 30, Ryde Hawks 3

A strong offensive display lifted Western Suns to a 30-3 victory over Ryde Hawks in their #AILC2018 opener on Diamond 4.

The Suns struck early, stifled a Hawks’ comeback, then powered away in a strong showing.

Michael De Gasperis homered and drove in four runs, while Harrison Jackson-Schildbach went 4-for-5 and drove in three runs.

Starter Lewdon Te Mara struck out five in 2 2/3 innings and went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the Suns.

Luca Fierro drove in a run for Ryde.

#ASLC2018 result: Gold Coast Cougars 4, Hills 3

Ian Lee drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to guide the Gold Coast Cougars to victory against Hills on Diamond 1.

Lee’s third hit of the game capped off a Cougars’ comeback in a thrilling #ASLC2018 contest.

Gold Coast scored the opening run when Lee drove in Ethan Clarke in the first.

Hills hit back in the bottom of the first.

Ryan Franks’ two-run double handed Hills a lead and Mitchell Vickery’s RBI-single added to it.

Jamie Fox singled to pull the Cougars within a run in the fourth, and Rilee Ford’s RBI-double in the sixth tied the ballgame.

Ian Lee drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to guide the Gold Coast Cougars to victory against Hills on Diamond 1.

Bradlee Marsh took over from the right-hander, recording the final four outs as Adelaide’s pitching combined for a no-hitter.

Darcy Barry led Armada’s offence, driving in two runs.

11.10am Metros create Australian baseball history

#AILC2018 result: Northern Metros 19, Manly 0

Northern Metros created history on Day 1 of #AILC2018, winning the first ever Intermediate League game at an Australian championship.

The Metros used a 14-run first inning to overcome Manly 19-0 on Diamond 3.

Jacob Santich went 3-for-4, driving in three runs, and leadoff hitter Braydin Horsley also collected three hits.

Starter Ty Spaulding recorded four strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

Riley Sanders tossed solid innings in relief as the Metros kept Manly hitless.

The Metros face Ryde next, starting at 9.30am tomorrow.

Manly squares off with the Western Suns at 1.15pm today on Diamond 4.
