Cronulla rode early runs and a strong start by Jake Burns into tomorrow’s #ASLC2018 gold medal game against Adelaide Titans.
Burns struck out seven after Cronulla scored two runs in the first inning, before a late offensive surge ensured an impressive 9-0 victory over the Western Suns on Diamond 1.
The win booked Cronulla a spot in the gold medal game against the Titans, live on ABLtv.com from 5pm tomorrow.
Working with a 2-0 lead, Burns tossed five scoreless innings before handing over to Joshua Pearl who struck out five in two innings.
Offensively, William Fullerton, Kody Roberts and Bailey Curtis drove in two runs each.
Ben Warrington collected two hits for the Suns.

Southern Mariners left the bases loaded, denying Gold Coast a comeback win in #ASLC2018 consolation game two.
The Mariners scored the first six runs of the game before the Cougars tacked on three and loaded the bases in the top of the seventh.
Adam Harris came on to record the final out for Southern.
Mariners’ starter Dante Caruso earlier provided five and 1/3 solid innings of work.
He struck out five and drove in a couple of runs offensively.
Jasper King finished with two RBIs for the Gold Coast.

Northern Metros will face Western Suns in the inaugural #AILC2018 gold medal game.
The Metros topped the Southern Mariners 16-6 on Diamond 3 to book a rematch of the WA State Championship gold medal game.
After yielding four runs in the top of the first, the Metros piled on 11 in the bottom of the first.
Starter Jacob Santich worked all five innings, striking out five.
He also provided offensive punch, doubling twice and adding a triple to finish with seven RBIs.
The gold medal game is a 1.30pm tomorrow.

Adelaide Titans are through to the #ASLC2018 gold medal game after ending Adelaide Armada’s title defence with an 11-3 win in the first semi-final on Day 5.
The Titans fought back from 3-1 down to advance to the decider against the winner of this afternoon’s second semi-final between Cronulla and the Western Suns.
Carter Powell led the way, picking up four hits including a double, as the Titans racked up 15 hits to five.
Zac Stroud drove in three runs and worked 2 2/3 scoreless frames in relief.
Armada will play for bronze tomorrow against the loser of the other semi-final.

Manly took it to their fellow NSW charter in the opening inning, but consistent scoring from Ryde proved the difference, as they prevailed 15-8.
Liam Goodrich was exceptional on the mound for Ryde despite a shaky start. The righty only conceded one run in his final four innings on the mound as he finished with six strikeouts.
Hamish Treatt starred with bat in hand for Ryde, going 4-for-4 and driving in three runs. Luca Fierro also hit well to finish with three RBI, while Kynan Leong legged out two doubles and a triple.
Jo-Wei Chang finished with three RBI for Manly, with Tom Gledhill and Jared Cupp finished with one hit apiece.

The first of those is in the Intermediate League with Western Suns battling Macarthur for a spot in the final from 9.30am (local time) on Diamond 3. That will be followed by Northern Metros and Southern Mariners from 1pm, also on Diamond 3. In Senior League, Adelaide Armada and Adelaide Titans clash in semi-final one at 12.15pm on Diamond 1.
