Australia break through at U12 Baseball World Cup

Baseball Victoria
30 July 2017

After a disappointing few days on the field, the Australian U12 World Cup team broke through for a dominant 9-1 victory against Germany in Taiwan.

Oscar Hyde was simply outstanding on the mound for Australia as the Queenslander tossed five shutout innings, striking out six and only allowing three hits. Hyde also proved tough for the German pitching staff, claiming a pair of RBI from his two hits.

Hyde wasn't the only one to swing it well, with William Baker and Brendan Regan also picking up two hits each.

Baker, Hyde and Liam Padovan did the damage with runners in scoring position as all three boys drove in two runs each.

Australia scored three runs in the first three innings before scoring five runs in the fourth inning to break the ballgame wide open.

Despite some disappointing results over the last few days, the team hasn't dropped their heads, and will take plenty of confidence from this victory into their final two Opening Round games.
