The 2023 U12 State Winter Championship wrapped up in Werribee with eight fantastic games on Sunday.
Congratulations to winners Diamond Valley (Pool 1) and City West (Pool 2) and the following MVPs: Tony Huang (MWBL Ringwood), Brodie Leigh (MWBL City West), Lila Atkinson (BV Belles), Cooper Bicknell (Dandenong), Hayden Harrington (Bendigo), Jaxon Waters (MWBL Diamond Valley), Jordan Daniel (North Eastern), and Allister Bell (Geelong).

Pool 1
Semi-Final 1: MWBL Diamond Valley 9, Geelong 3
Diamond Valley defeated Geelong 9-3 on Sunday thanks to five runs in a big first inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Jackson Frendo and Charlie Fegan and a double by Ben Bird. They also scored on an error.
Fegan took the win for Diamond Valley. The pitcher surrendered one run on one hit over four innings, striking out four and walking zero. Billy Hooker threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Trace Loone took the loss for Geelong. Loone lasted two innings, allowing five hits and seven runs while striking out three.
Diamond Valley tallied seven hits, with two apiece for Jaxon Waters, Frendo, and Fegan.
Semi-Final 2: Dandenong 8, MWBL Ringwood 0
Ringwood fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-0 loss to Dandenong on Sunday. Dandenong scored on singles by Spencer Evans and Hugh Williams in the first inning.
Cooper Bicknell got the start for Dandenong. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out 14.
Tony Huang was on the pitcher's mound for Ringwood. The bulldog surrendered four runs on five hits over three innings, striking out five. Patrick Lane and Chris Prescott entered the game as relief, throwing one and one-third innings and one inning respectively.
Dandenong totaled nine hits in the game. Evans and Williams each racked up multiple hits as the team was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Samuel Wang had the most chances in the field with 15.
Williams led Dandenong with two of the team's seven stolen bases.
Third-Place Playoff: MWBL Ringwood 11, Geelong 5
Tate Sadler got the job done on Sunday, driving in four runs on two hits to lead Ringwood past Geelong 11-5. Sadler drove in runs on a double in the first and a single in the third.
Ringwood grabbed an early lead, scoring on a single by Felix Fleiner, a double by Sadler, and a single by Carter Mc Gowan in the first inning.
Finley Shortland-Hooper led things off on the mound for Ringwood, throwing two and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out four.
Alistair Bell toed the rubber for Geelong. Bell surrendered eight runs on five hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one. Axle Marshall threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Ringwood totaled eight hits in the game, with two apiece for Callum Dyer and Sadler. The side stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Dominic Sissing led the way with two.
Marshall led Geelong with two hits in three at-bats.
Grand Final: MWBL Diamond Valley 13, Dandenong 1
Diamond Valley knocked in seven runs in the third on the way to a 13-1 victory over Dandenong in Sunday's grand final. Jackson Frendo, Alex Green, Jaxon Waters, and Charlie Fegan powered the big inning with RBIs.
Diamond Valley got things moving in the first inning, scoring one run when Ben Bird singled.
They tallied seven runs in the third inning with RBIs for Frendo, Green, Waters, and Fegan.
Alexander Knell was on the pitcher's mound for Diamond Valley. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three and walking one.
Dean Rault was on the hill for Dandenong. Rault went one and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits and striking out one. Mia Wang threw one and one-third innings in relief.
Diamond Valley tallied two home runs on the day as Fegan and Green both homered in the third. Overall the team had 13 hits, with Knell and Waters recording three hits each.
Diamond Valley was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Cooper Vincent had the most chances in the field with seven.
Pool 2
Semi-Final 1: BV Belles 5, Bendigo 4
BV Belles took their win in dramatic fashion, thanks to a walk-off double at the end of the game to topple Bendigo 5-4. The game was tied at four with Belles batting in the bottom of the third when Alexandra Egan doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Amelia Bergman started things off strong for Belles as three pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter. Belles pitchers struck out five on the way to victory.
Lila Atkinson was credited with the victory for Belles. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out four. Taylor Elton threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Samson Corry took the loss for Bendigo. The pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out four.
Russell Barham started the game for Bendigo. Barham allowed zero hits and two runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one.
Bergman started the game for Belles, allowing zero hits and four runs.
Egan, Hannah Wilson - Powell, and Lucy Gale each collected one hit to lead Belles. The team stole ten bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Audrey Cheung led the way with two.
Belles was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error as Hayley Dawn made the most plays with five.
Bendigo didn't commit a single error in the field. Lachlan Penna had the most chances in the field with five.
Semi-Final 2: MWBL City West 9, North Eastern 4
City West claimed a 9-4 victory on Sunday, despite a big push by North Eastern in the fourth inning with RBIs by Jaxson Hetherill and Charlie Daniel.
City West got their offense started in the first when Brodie Leigh hit an RBI double. They put the pressure on with six runs in the second, including walks by Samuel Owen and Mason Cvetanoski and a double by Isaac Davis.
Leigh was on the pitcher's mound for City West, allowing three hits and one run over three innings, striking out seven.
Jordan Daniel was on the mound for North Eastern. The bulldog allowed two hits and eight runs over one inning, striking out one. Harlan Gambier threw one inning in relief.
Miguel Hernandez, Noah Sulufaiga, Davis, Leigh, and Owen Dundon each managed one hit to lead City West. The team tore up the base paths as two players stole at least two bases. Dundon led the way with three.
City West didn't commit a single error in the field. Ainslie Harris had ten chances, the most on the team.
North Eastern stole 11 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Daniel led the way with two.
Third Place Playoff: North Eastern 17, Bendigo 9
Bendigo fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 17-9 loss to North Eastern on Sunday. North Eastern scored on a fielder's choice by Ethan Simmons, a single by Jaxson Hetherill, a single by Lucas Hoare, a walk by Henry Gray, and an error in the first inning.
Despite the loss, Bendigo did collect three hits in the high-scoring game, while North Eastern had six.
North Eastern opened up scoring in the first inning, when Oliver Hanna induced Simmons to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Flynn Vines earned the win for North Eastern. The ace allowed one hit and two runs.
Simmons started the game for North Eastern. The fireballer went two and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on two hits and striking out six.
Hanna started the game for Bendigo. The pitcher surrendered ten runs on four hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one.
Hayden Harrington, Lachlan Penna, and Russell Barham all had one hit to lead Bendigo.
Simmons went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead North Eastern in hits. The team was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Mack Cannan made the most plays with seven.

Grand Final: MWBL City West 10, BV Belles 2
City West got ahead early with singles by Brodie Leigh and Owen Dundon in the first inning as they eventually won 10-2 over BV Belles.
City West scored five more runs in the third inning thanks to doubles by Isaac Davis and Leigh, a single by Mason Cvetanoski, and a groundout by Noah Sulufaiga.
Sulufaiga got the win for City West. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
Alexandra Egan was on the pitcher's mound for Belles. She threw two and a third innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits and striking out five. Madeline Haynes threw two innings out of the bullpen.
Egan, Audrey Cheung, and Audrey Trubiano all had one hit to lead Belles.
City West collected ten hits, including two apiece for Dundon and Leigh. The team stole 12 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Cvetanoski led the way with two.
City West was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error as Augustus Holley made the most plays with 11.

MWBL Diamond Valley 10, MWBL Ringwood 3
Diamond Valley won 10-3 over Ringwood on Saturday, with Alex Green opening the scoring in the first with a 2-RBI double. They got one more in the second when Oliver Friend drew a bases-loaded walk.
Diamond Valley tallied five runs in the third inning with RBIs by Cooper Vincent, Jackson Frendo, Micah Power, and Jaxon Waters.
Frendo led Diamond Valley to victory on the mound. The ace allowed seven hits and three runs over five innings, striking out three and walking zero.
Tony Huang pitched for Ringwood and gave up just two runs on one hit over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two.
Diamond Valley scattered 12 hits in the game. Waters went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and Green had multiple hits, too.
Arav Chakravarthy went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Ringwood in hits.
Dandenong 11, Geelong 1
Dandenong's two pitchers didn't allow a single hit in an 11-1 victory on Saturday morning. Dean Rault struck out Axle Marshall to get the last out of the game.
An early lead helped Dandenong. They scored on a single by Liam Johnston and a groundout by Jax Savage in the first inning.
Dandenong tallied six runs in the third inning with RBIs by Spencer Evans, Brodie Hill, Jordan Deysel, and Cooper Bicknell.
Hugh Williams got the start for Dandenong. The hurler surrendered one run on zero hits over three and a third innings, striking out eight.
Jasper Hall was on the mound for Geelong. The hurler lasted one inning, allowing three hits and three runs while walking one. Hunter Jones and Alistair Bell entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and one-third of an inning, respectively.
Dandenong smacked one home run on the day. Bicknell had a four-bagger in the third inning.
Mia Wang, Aiden Jeffree, Bicknell, Deysel, Jack Duse, Johnston, Williams, and Hill each collected one hit to lead Dandenong.
MWBL Diamond Valley 9, Dandenong 7
Diamond Valley built a six-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Dandenong's charge for a 9-7 victory on Saturday. Dandenong scored four runs in the comeback attempt on a single by Mia Wang, a groundout by Aiden Jeffree, a single by Spencer Evans, and a single by Jack Duse.
Dandenong scored four runs in the fifth inning, but Diamond Valley still managed to pull out the victory. Dandenong was led by Wang, Jeffree, Evans, and Duse, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Dandenong opened up scoring in the first inning on an error and went on to add five runs in the third. Jackson Frendo, Jacob Low, Oliver Friend, and Xavier Laing - Whiteman all had RBI singles.
Low earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Diamond Valley. The hurler allowed seven hits and six runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.
Samuel Wang took the loss for Dandenong. Wang allowed seven hits and seven runs over two innings, striking out three.
Diamond Valley totaled nine hits in the game. Jaxon Waters, Friend, and Low had two hits apiece.
Wang went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Dandenong in hits.
MWBL Ringwood 14, Geelong 5
Geelong fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 14-5 loss to Ringwood on Saturday. Ringwood scored on a single by Nolan Johnson, a fielder's choice by Arnav Chakravarthy, and a walk by Tony Huang in the first inning.
Geelong tallied three runs in the third inning on RBIs by Gus Morgan, Harvey Vajc, and Hunter Wilson. Ringwood tacked on five runs with RBIs from Chakravarthy, Huang, Finley Shortland-Hooper, and Carter McGowan.
Shortland - Hooper got the start for Ringwood and surrendered one run on one hit over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking one.
Heath Dundas was on the mound for Geelong. The bulldog allowed seven hits and nine runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Mitchell McDowall threw one inning out of the bullpen.
Dundas, Jasper Hall, and Vajc all had one hit to lead Geelong as the team tore up the base paths. Hall led the way with three.
Ringwood collected 11 hits, including two apiece for Chris Prescott and Johnson.

Geelong watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-2 loss to Diamond Valley on Saturday afternoon. Diamond Valley scored on a single by Jaxon Waters, a walk by Jackson Frendo, a walk by Billy Hooker, and a single by Ben Bird in the first inning.
Waters was the winning pitcher for Diamond Valley. The fireballer went two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out two. Alexander Knell, Alex Green, and Charlie Fegan all put in work in relief out of the bullpen.
Jasper Hall took the loss for Geelong. The bulldog allowed four hits and seven runs over one inning, striking out one.

Ringwood jumped out to an early lead over Dandenong and took home a 7-3 victory on Saturday. Ringwood scored on a double by Tony Huang and a fielder's choice by Dominic Sissing in the first inning.
Ringwood put up five runs in the third inning. Brandon Pearce, Felix Fleiner, Huang, and Sissing all moved runners across the plate with RBIs.
Tate Sadler was on the mound for Ringwood. The bulldog went four innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out six.
Brodie Hill was on the pitcher's mound for Dandenong. The bulldog went two and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on two hits and striking out four. Jax Savage threw one inning out of the bullpen.
Huang went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Ringwood in hits.
Aiden Jeffree led Dandenong with two hits in three at-bats.

MWBL City West 16, North Eastern 1
City West grabbed an early lead on the way to a 16-1 victory over North Eastern on Saturday. City West scored on doubles by Brodie Leigh and Noah Sulufaiga in the first inning.
City West tallied five runs in the fourth inning, with big bats led by Samuel Owen, Mason Cvetanoski, and Leigh, who all recorded RBIs.
Sulufaiga led things off on the mound for City West. The pitcher surrendered one run on one hit over one and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking zero.
Lincoln Hughes led things off on the pitcher's mound for North Eastern. Hughes lasted two innings, allowing two hits and six runs while striking out one. Mack Cannan threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.
Leigh went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead City West in hits.
BV Belles 12, Bendigo 2
BV Belles won big over Bendigo thanks to a five-run second inning. Harriet Trubiano, Hayley Dawn, Audrey Trubiano, and Lila Atkinson took walks to support the scoring effort.
Madeline Saunders took the win for Belles. She allowed one hit and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Atkinson threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Alexandra Egan started the game for Belles, allowing zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two.
Bendigo's Lachlan Penna went two-thirds of an inning with eight runs, one hit and two strikeouts.
Jasmine Etherton started the game and gave up four runs on three hits with a walk.
BV Belles led the team at the plate, going 2-for-2. Penna went 1-for-2 for Bendigo as the team didn't commit a single error in the field. Abigail Peters had two chances, the most on the team.
BV Belles 13, MWBL City West 12
A walk-off walk led BV Belles past City West 13-12 on Saturday. The game was tied at 12 with Belles batting in the bottom of the fourth when Hannah Wilson-Powell drew a walk, scoring one run.
Belles built a four-run lead in the third inning and then held off City West's charge. City West scored five runs in the comeback effort on a walk by Spencer Taylor, a fielder's choice by Mika Suggett, a single by Miguel Hernandez, a walk by Ainslie Harris, and a single by Samuel Owen.
Belles took an early lead in the first inning, scoring two runs when Hayley Dawn doubled.
After City West scored five runs in the top of the third, Belles answered with five of their own. City West scored when Dawn induced Mason Cvetanoski to hit into a fielder's choice but one run scored. Isaac Davis doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs, Brodie Leigh doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Noah Sulufaiga singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Belles then answered when Harriet Trubiano drew a walk, scoring one run and Dawn homered on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring four runs.
Dawn got the start for Belles. The pitcher surrendered five runs on four hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five.
Taylor was on the mound for City West. The bulldog lasted one-third of an inning, allowing one hit and four runs. Suggett and Daniel Hernandez entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and one-third of an inning, respectively.
Belles hit one home run on the day as Dawn homered in the third inning. The all-girls team had five hits total, with two hits apiece to Dawn and Audrey Cheung.
City West collected ten hits. Leigh and Hernandez had multiple hits for City West as the team was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Augustus Holley had the most fielding chances with four. Leigh led City West with three stolen bases as they ran wild on the base paths with 14 stolen bases.
North Eastern 10, Bendigo 5
North Eastern claimed a 10-5 victory on Saturday, despite a big push by Bendigo in the third inning. Oliver Hanna, Jonothan Peters, Lachlan Penna, Ethan Van Der Aarsen, and Hayden Harrington each had RBIs in the frame.
North Eastern scored five runs in the second inning with RBIs for Wesley Booth, Harlan Gambier, and Harlan Webster.
Jordan Daniel got the start for North Eastern. Daniel went one and one-third innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out four and walking zero.
Russell Barham started the game for Bendigo. The pitcher went one inning, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out one. Spencer Trewin - Francis threw one inning in relief.
Lincoln Hughes went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead North Eastern in hits. The team didn't commit a single error in the field as Lucas Hoare had three chances, the most on the team.
Ethan Simmons led North Eastern with four of the team's 15 stolen bases.
MWBL City West 11, Bendigo 9
City West collected nine hits and gave up just three hits to Bendigo in an 11-9 victory.
City West opened with five runs in both the first and second, while Bendigo put up two in the first, five in the second, and two in the third.
Isaac Davis led City West with two hits and three RBIs while Mason Cvetanoski, Brodie Leigh, Noah Sulufaiga, Owen Dundon, Spencer Taylor, Ayrton Lu, and Samuel Owen all picked up a hit.
Bendigo's hits came off the bats of Lachlan Penna, Jonothan Peters, and Oliver Hanna.
David Rowe, Dundon, Leigh, Owen, and Lu shared pitching duties for City West while Samson Corry and Chad Strahan put in work on the mound for Bendigo.
BV Belles 12, North Eastern 7
BV Belles opened with five runs thanks to doubles by Madeline Haynes and Taylor Elton and base hits by Lucy Gale, Audrey Cheung, and Hayley Dawn.
North Eastern loaded the bases and got one back in the bottom of the first, although Belles went on to score seven runs for a 12-7 victory.
Gale pitched for Belles as Mack Cannan and Jaxson Hetherill shared pitching duties for North Eastern.

A beloved winter baseball tradition returns to Werribee Giants Baseball Club this weekend with the 2023 U12 State Winter Championship from 15-16 July.
Eight teams are taking part in the junior baseball fun, which will start Saturday morning and culminate in Pool 1 and Pool 2 grand finals on Sunday afternoon. Dandenong, Diamond Valley, Geelong, and Ringwood are playing in Pool 1 while Bendigo, City West, North Eastern, and the BV Belles all-girls team make up Pool 2.
After a successful event last year, the Werribee baseball community is excited for another awesome showcase of junior baseball in Victoria.
“We are honoured to host the U12 State Winter Champs, with four diamonds ready to go for an action-packed weekend,” Club President David Bishop-Worn said. “We hope to see many supporters out and about as we welcome teams from around the state.”
Baseball Victoria is pleased to have a strong turnout of teams and support from Home Run Partners like Ausport, who will be there with the latest baseball gear on Saturday from 8am-2pm.
Field of View Sports Photography will also be on hand for team photos and action shots, plus osteopaths from Osteo Sports Network are coming to the tournament, too.
“Thank you to all our winter associations, host venues, partners, and of course the participants who make the State Winter Championships possible,” BV CEO Chet Gray said. “We can’t wait for the U12 action to get underway this weekend and we wish everyone the best of luck as our winter tournament season continues.”

The 2023 BV All-Girls Winter Invitational wrapped up on Sunday at Strathfieldsaye Dodgers Baseball Club with four action-packed games between U13 and U17 teams.

U17 Aces 10, U17 Blue Sox 7
Saya Turnley got things moving for U17 Blue Sox with an RBI single in the first inning. A series of walks put Aces in front 5-2 at the end of the inning.
Ruby Benne and Mollie Wayenberg singled in the bottom of the second as Aces made it 10-2. Blue Sox battled hard in the third with base hits by Macy Priamo, Turnley, Alanah Rose, and Mackenzie Prentice-Evans.
Emily Loong picked up the win for Aces with five hits and four strikeouts in 2.2 innings on the mound. Rose and Simpson shared pitching duties for Blue Sox.
U13 Giants 13, U13 Bandits 10
U13 Giants ran off with the lead late in the game in a 13-10 victory over U13 Bandits on Sunday. The game was tied at ten with Giants batting in the bottom of the fourth when Samara McCallum singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Giants collected nine hits and Bandits five in the high-scoring game.
Bandits got things started in the first inning. Maddy Haynes grounded out, scoring one run.
Both sides scored five runs in the third. Bandits scored when Haynes singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs, Alexandra Egan singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, and Alexia Hunkin singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Giants then answered when Sophie Bird singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, Sophie Berry doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, and Ayla McCallum tripled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Paige Anders got the start for Giants. The fireballer surrendered ten runs on four hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three.
Egan led things off on the hill for Bandits. The bulldog lasted two and a third innings, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out seven. Evangelynn Lane threw two-thirds of an inning in relief.
Giants saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Jessie Hoare and Bird had two hits apiece while Giants stolen 15 bases and four players stole more than one. Blair Murphy led the way with three.

U17 Blue Sox 5, U17 Aces 3
U17 Blue Sox snagged a late lead and defeated U17 Aces 5-3 on Sunday. The game was tied at three with Blue Sox batting in the bottom of the fourth when Lilly Simpson doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Blue Sox got things moving in the first inning. Mia Llewellyn drew a walk, scoring one run.
Saya Turnley was on the hill for Blue Sox. She threw four innings, allowing three runs on one hit, striking out 11 and walking one.
Ebony Sutherland was on the mound for Aces. She gave up three runs on one hit over two innings, striking out three. Leah Antonacci threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Simpson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Blue Sox in hits.
Makayla Pool led Aces with two of the team's seven stolen bases.
U13 Bandits 10, U13 Giants 8
U13 Bandits stole the lead late in the game in a 10-8 victory over U13 Giants on Sunday afternoon. The game was tied at seven with Bandits batting in the bottom of the third when they scored two runs on a stolen base.
Giants scored five runs in the first inning with RBIs by Ayla McCallum, Jessie Hoare, and Lily Byrne.
Lila Atkinson led things off on the hill for Bandits. The pitcher lasted two and a third innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out three.
Lillie Brockwell pitched for Giants before Josie Wright and Blair Murphy entered the game out of the bullpen, each throwing one inning.
Georgia Lovell led Bandits with two hits in two at-bats. The team tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Alexandra Egan led the way with four.
Giants totaled seven hits, including two apiece for Sophie Bird and Byrne. Sophie Berry made the most plays with four in a clean fielding game.

The 2023 U14 State Winter Championship concluded on Sunday with Geelong taking out the title after an undefeated run including five big wins, including a winner-take-all final vs. runners-up Dandenong.

Dandenong 18, MWBL City West 2
MWBL City West fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 18-2 loss to Dandenong on Sunday. DBA scored on an error, a walk by Aiden Incoll, and a single by Oscar Haysom in the first inning.
DBA scored five more runs in the third inning with RBIs by Haysom, Lachlan Jeffree, Jack Boyle, Patrick Mahoney, and Jackson Burton.
Spencer Tyers was the winning pitcher for DBA. The hurler surrendered two runs on one hit over four innings, striking out seven.
Kohen Van Andel took the loss for City West. Van Andel lasted two innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out four.
Parks Halasz started the game for City West. The bulldog lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and 12 runs while striking out three.
Halasz went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead City West in hits.
DBA had 12 hits in the game. Haysom went 3-for-3 as Kade Henry, Brock Edwards, and Tyers had multiple hits, too. The team didn't make any fielding errors as Coadhey Rebbechi made the most plays with seven.
Incoll led DBA with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 16 stolen bases.
MWBL Ringwood 13, Bendigo 10
Both MWBL Ringwood and Bendigo had their offenses going on Sunday, but Ringwood eventually prevailed 13-10 in the high-scoring game.
Ringwood got things moving in the first inning when an error scored one run. Bendigo tied it up in the bottom of the first inning when Hamish Kelly drew a walk, scoring one run.
Ringwood pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. Jonathan Ryan drew a walk, scoring one run, Sam Stafilis singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs, and Jiah Cosgrove doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. An error scored another.
Ewan Clowes was credited with the victory for Ringwood, allowing zero hits and one run over one inning.
Sean Ralston took the loss for BBA. The bulldog lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out one.
Stafilis started the game for Ringwood. The pitcher lasted one and one-third innings, allowing one hit and nine runs while striking out four.
Blake Hando started the game for BBA, going one inning, allowing 13 runs on eight hits and striking out one.
Deon Strahan had Bendigo's lone hit while Cosgrove, Jacob Turner, Fabian Montefusco, and Hugh Hockley had two hits apiece for Ringwood. They stole 16 bases during the game as seven players stole more than one. Turner led the way with three.
Geelong 10, North Eastern 2
North Eastern watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-2 loss to Geelong on Sunday. GBA scored on a double by Cale Morris, a single by George Steer, a single by Lucas Joel, and a walk by Jack Northfield in the first inning.
GBA scored five more runs in the fourth inning with RBIs by Christian Papadopoulos, Teal Loone, and Northfield.
Morris toed the rubber for GBA. The ace lasted three innings, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out five.
Cruz Wayenberg was on the mound for NEBA. The hurler surrendered three runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking zero. Sam Bourne and Oscar Maiden entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one inning and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
Wayenberg led NEBA with one hit in two at-bats. The team was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Josh Wells had the most fielding chances with four.
GBA racked up eight hits on the day. Northfield went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the way while Morris had multiple hits, too. GBA stole nine bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Steer led the way with three.
North Eastern 10, MWBL Ringwood 10
A single in the third inning helped MWBL Ringwood battle to a 10-10 tie with North Eastern on Sunday.
NEBA opened up scoring in the first inning. Josh Wells singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
Ringwood tied things up at ten in the bottom of the third when Sam Stafilis singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run. Hugh Hockley, Josh Rice, and Jacob Turner also had RBIs in the inning.
Ringwood tallied seven hits on the day with two apiece from Stafilis and Ewan Clowes. The team tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Stafilis led the way with three.
NEBA racked up seven hits on the day. Wells and Cruz Wayenberg had multiple hits and Cooper Kimball had two of the team's eight stolen bases.
Geelong 15, MWBL City West 4
Geelong scored five runs in three innings for a big victory over MWBL City West, made possible by hits for Cale Morris, George Steer, and Riva Abram.
City West opened the game with two runs on a pair of walks and Rhys Rayner's single. Five walks and singles by Morris and Abram made it 5-2 Geelong going into the second.
City West got two back in the next inning but Geelong soon extended the lead with a bases-loaded single by George Steer. It was 10-4 by the end of the inning.
Archie Rose singled for City West in the third but was left on base. Geelong went on to score five more runs to finish out the game.
Steer picked up the win for Geelong, throwing three innings with two hits, two earned runs, four walks, and five strikeouts.
Dandenong 8, MWBL Diamond Valley 2
Dandenong cruised to victory over MWBL Diamond Valley 8-2 on Sunday.
Diamond Valley fired up the offense in the first inning when Andy Zdihan singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
DBA scored three runs in the third inning with walks by Patrick Mahoney and Aiden Incoll and an error on a ball hit by Kade Henry.
Jackson Burton was the winning pitcher for DBA. The bulldog went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts.
Ollie Allen took the loss for Diamond Valley. The bulldog allowed zero hits and four runs over two innings, striking out three.
Henry led DBA with three runs batted in as the team tore up the base paths with Ned Richards stealing four.
Zdihan led Diamond Valley with two hits in two at-bats.
Geelong 9, Dandenong 4
Dandenong lost the lead late in a 9-4 defeat to Geelong on Sunday. The game was tied at four with GBA batting in the top of the fourth when Cale Morris doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Kade Henry singled to put DBA in front to start the game, although Geelong quickly battled back. DBA tied things up at four in the bottom of the third inning when Henry doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Reuben Millar got the start for GBA. The bulldog went four innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out six.
Henry was on the hill for DBA. Henry allowed two hits and four runs over two innings, striking out one. Patrick Mahoney threw one inning out of the bullpen.
Henry went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead DBA in hits. The team was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ned Richards had the most fielding chances with three.
Morris led GBA with two hits in two at-bats and six of the team's 17 stolen bases.
MWBL Diamond Valley 14, North Eastern 2
MWBL Diamond Valley's two pitchers didn't allow a single hit in a 14-2 win over North Eastern. Nathan Healy struck out Josh Wells to get the last out of the game.
Diamond Valley fired up the offense in the first inning, scoring two on an Ollie Allen double. They added five in the second with singles by Darcy Squire and Oliver Von Tunk and a home run by Andy Zdihan.
Joel Roberts took the win for Diamond Valley. He allowed zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out five. Healy threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Roman Ilievski took the loss for NEBA. The pitcher surrendered ten runs on five hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one.
Diamond Valley totaled ten hits in the game. Zdihan, Von Tunk, and Nikau Galligan had two hits apiece.
NEBA didn't commit a single error as Wells had four chances in the field, the most on the team.
MWBL City West 12, Bendigo 1
MWBL City West jumped out to an early lead over Bendigo and took home a 12-1 victory on Sunday. City West scored on singles by Kohen Van Andel, Flynn Suggett, and Alyssa Jamieson in the first inning.
City West scored five more in the third with RBIs from Rhys Rayner, Van Andel, and Suggett.
Rayner pitched City West to victory, allowing one hit and one run over three and a third innings, striking out four. Luca Gatewood threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Deon Strahan took the loss for BBA. The hurler went two innings, allowing ten runs on eight hits and striking out two.
Van Andel went 2-for-2 at the plate with three stolen bases to lead City West in hits. The team didn't commit a single error in the field as Suggett had the most chances with four.
Strahan had one hit for Bendigo.

The 2023 BV All-Girls Winter Invitational got underway on Saturday at Strathfieldsaye Dodgers Baseball Club with an awesome display of girls baseball.

BV Royals 11, BV Cubs 9
Cubs got on the board with five runs in the first but Royals kept up the pressure, scoring one in the first before five-run innings in both the second and the third.
Cubs scored four in the third but fell just short of Royals as both sides finished with five hits. Mia Llewellyn and Leah Antonacci had two apiece for Cubs as Saya Turnley knocked in two with a big hit and a walk.
Royals hits came off the bats of Mia Wilkinson, Eloise Holden, Andie Torcasio, Sophie Bird, and Hannah Wilson-Powell.
Saya Turnley pitched an inning for Cubs with one hit, one run, one walk, and two strikeouts. Lila Atkinson, Evangelynn Lane, and Alicia Tyrell also took turns on the mound.
For the Royals, Blair Murphy, Lily Byrne, Alanah Rose, and Eloise Holden combined for five strikeouts.
North Eastern 10, BV Braves 5
Both teams scored five runs in the first, but North Eastern pulled away with another five in the second.
Macy Priamo doubled to start the game for BV Braves, followed by a string of hit by pitches and walks to give them the lead.
North Eastern's first-inning offense included singles by Makayla Pool and Makiah McCallum, boosted by a few base on balls. Matilda Baker singled in North Eastern's five-run second, too.
BV Braves loaded the bases in the top of the third but North Eastern got a few key outs to seal the deal. McCallumw got the win on the mound with two hits, five runs, and three strikeouts.
Priamo had two hits to lead BV Braves while Samara McCallum, Makiah McCallum, Makayla Pool, Matilda Baker, and Ayla McCallum collected North Eastern's hits.
BV Royals 13, North Eastern 3
BV Royals opened with four runs and kept up the pressure throughout the game. Mia Wilkinson, Ruby Benne, Eloise Holden, Josie Wright, and Sophie Bird picked up hits and RBIs.
Benne pitched Royals to victory, covering two innings with three hits, three runs, and five strikeouts.
Sophie Berry struck out four during her time on the mound for North Eastern, with Charlotte Kenny and Samara McCallum also taking turns on the mound.
Kenny, Mollie Wayenberg, and Makiah McCallum had hits for North Eastern.
BV Cubs 11, BV Braves 8
Braves had a 5-2 lead at the end of the first and scored another three in the top of the second, but Cubs got the job done with more runs in the final innings.
Leah Antonacci, Maddy Haynes, and Evangelynn Lane led the Cubs in hits with one apiece as Macy Priamo, Madeleine Saunders, Lilly Simpson, Sarah Rogers, and Georgia Lovell collected hits for Braves.
Teagan Hando joined Rogers and Martin in pitching for Braves while Alexandra Egan, Mia Llewellyn, and Leah Antonacci threw for Cubs.
BV Braves 15, BV Royals 9
BV Braves put up five runs in each inning although BV Royals fought back with nine runs in the second. Royals lost despite outhitting Braves 5-3.
Andie Torcasio and Alanah Rose both had 2-RBI hits for Royals, while Sophie Bird, Mia Wilkinson, and Ruby Benne also collected hits.
Phoebe Martin, Lilly Simpson, and Sarah Rogers had hits for Braves. Pitcher Macy Priamo gave up two hits, two runs, and a walk with four strikeouts in 1.1 innings. Martin pitched in relief.
For Royals, Torcasio gave up three earned runs on two hits with a strikeout. Wilkinson put in work on the mound, too.

MWBL Diamond Valley 15, Bendigo 5
MWBL Diamond Valley claimed a 15-5 victory on Saturday, despite a big push by Bendigo in the third inning. BBA's offensive firepower was led by Fletcher Cain, Hamish Kelly, Sideli Parsons, Riley Harrington, and Thomas Ward, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Diamond Valley got things moving in the first inning on a 2-RBI double by Andy Zdihan.
Mason McKelvie earned the win for MWBL Diamond Valley. McKelvie went two and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on two hits and striking out seven. Cohen Power threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Taylor Hanna took the loss for BBA. The bulldog allowed ten hits and ten runs over one inning, striking out two.
Diamond Valley totaled 13 hits, including two apiece for Oliver Von Tunk, Nathan Healy, and Murphy Carrison. McKelvie led the side with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 13 stolen bases.
Geelong 11, MWBL Ringwood 2
Geelong defeated MWBL-Ringwood 11-2 on Saturday, getting on board in the first inning when Lucas Joel singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Reuben Millar was on the hill for GBA. The fireballer went one inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits and walking zero.
Jiah Cosgrove led things off on the hill for MWBL Ringwood. The pitcher allowed two hits and five runs over two-thirds of an inning. Lachlan Smith and Pheonix Kuilboer entered the game as relief, throwing one and one-third innings and two-thirds of an inning, respectively.
Millar, Jacob Young, Jack Northfield, and Joel each collected one hit to lead GBA. The team stole 18 bases during the game as seven players stole more than one. Joel led the way with three.
Dandenong 7, North Eastern 5
Dandenong opened with two runs thanks to singles by Spencer Tyers and Kade Henry, followed by a hit by pitch. North Eastern loaded the bases in the second but didn't get any back.
Five walks, two hit by pitch, and a Ned Richards single made it 5-0 Dandenong going into the third. That's when North Eastern's bats lit up, working the count for four straight walks before a big fly ball. With four more walks, the game was tied at five apiece.
Dandenong pulled in front for good in the final frame with a lead-off double by Henry, then back-to-back singles by Brock Edwards and Oscar Haysom.
Overall Dandenong outhit North Eastern six to one, with Henry leading the way thanks to a 2-for-2 performance. North Eastern took 10 walks in the game and gave up eight base-on-balls to Dandenong.
Dandenong 10, MWBL Ringwood 9
MWBL Ringwood's comeback from down four runs in the fourth came up just short, as they fell 10-9 to Dandenong on Saturday.
Dandenong fired up the offense in the first as Jackson Burton singled on a 1-0 count. Ringwood came back with five runs in the second thanks to walks by Hugh Hockley, Jonathan Ryan, and Pheonix Kuilboer, a single by Lachlan Smith, and an error on a ball put in play by Benjamin Hart.
Ned Richards was on the mound for DBA. The fireballer went one-third of an inning, allowing three runs on zero hits and striking out one.
Hockley was on the hill for Ringwood. The bulldog surrendered ten runs on eight hits over two innings, striking out two. Ewan Clowes threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Smith and Kaleb Dickman all had one hit to lead Ringwood.
DBA tallied ten hits, including multiple for Aiden Incoll and Richards. Brock Edwards led DBA with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 19 stolen bases total.
MWBL Diamond Valley 14, MWBL City West 4
MWBL City West had a tough time generating runs on Saturday, dropping their game with MWBL Diamond Valley 14-4.
Diamond Valley scored five runs in the third inning with walks by Cohen Power and Joel Roberts, a single by Mason McKelvie, and a groundout by Oliver Von Tunk.
Finn Welte earned the win for Diamond Valley. The ace allowed two hits and four runs over three innings, striking out five.
Keith Respondek pitched for City West, giving up five runs on two hits over two-thirds of an inning.
Parks Halasz hit a home run for City West while Rhys Rayner also had a big hit. Meanwhile, McKelvie went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Diamond Valley in hits.
Dandenong 12, Bendigo 8
Dandenong took the lead late and defeated Bendigo 12-8 on Saturday. The game was tied at six with DBA batting in the bottom of the second when Coadhey Rebbechi singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Bats blistered as DBA collected seven hits and BBA tallied two in the high-scoring game.
DBA pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. Lachlan Jeffree singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Ned Richards drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jackson Burton doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
After BBA scored two runs on a Thomas Ward groundout in the top of the third, DBA answered with two of their own on an error.
Kade Henry was on the pitcher's mound for DBA. The fireballer allowed zero hits and four runs.
Zachary Banks-Broome pitched for BBA with two strikeouts in an inning. Archer Etherton threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
DBA smacked one home run on the day as Burton had a dinger in the first inning, going 2-for-2 overall. DBA stole ten bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Henry led the way with two.

Turner went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Ringwood in hits while Diamond Valley had nine hits total, including two apiece for Zdihan and Nathan Healy.
