The 2024 Under 16 State Winter Championships got off to a fantastic start, hosted by Latrobe Valley Baseball Association at Morwell Cougars and Traralgon Red Sox Baseball Clubs.

U16 Division 1
Ringwood 2, Dandenong 2
Ringwood and Dandenong ended in a draw, although Ringwood scored first with a Harvey Devlin RBI single in the second. An error helped Dandenong tie it up at one in the bottom half.
A single by Archie Hooper gave Ringwood a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth. Dandenong made it 2-all with a bases-loaded walk by Hunter Rouse their next time up.
Angus Saggers led things off on the bump for Ringwood, giving up one hit and one run (zero earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking none.
Kade Henry stepped on the hill first for Dandenong, giving up zero hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none.
Hooper and Devlin were a force together in the lineup, each collecting one hit and an RBI for Ringwood. They also had multiple stolen bases with seven total in the game.
Henry, Joash Xavier, and Rouse all collected one hit for Dandenong. The defense was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error as Rouse made the most plays with eight.
Diamond Valley 9, Geelong 1
Diamond Valley got on the board early, scoring on a Geelong error and an RBI groundout by Eric Webster in the first. They added two runs in the second as Ethan Kent singled on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, making it 4-0.
Diamond Valley scored five runs on one hit in the top of the third. Seth Stott singled, scoring one run, before bases-loaded walks to Kent, Bailey Stewart, Lachlan Brennan, and Marcus Murphy brought home four more.
Murphy led things off on the hill for Diamond Valley, giving up zero hits or runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one. Webster appeared in relief.
Charlie Davenport started the game for Geelong, giving up one hit and two runs over one inning, striking out two and walking two.
Kent led Diamond Valley with two hits in two at-bats from the leadoff position. The team practiced patience at the plate, tallying 16 walks in the game as Brennan and Leo McAndrew took three each. Oliver Baillargeon, Stott, Brennan, and McAndrew stole multiple bases with 11 total in the game.
Davenport led Geelong with one run batted in.
Geelong 10, City West 2
Geelong took care of business 10-2 over City West on Saturday, starting the scoring early with Charlie Davenport's RBI single in the first. Lucas Joel also doubled, scoring two runs, and Reid Sexton doubled, scoring one, before an error brought home another.
Geelong scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fourth. Jared Loader, Jack Northfield, and Cruz Appeldorff picked up RBI singles while Joel drew a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch scored one more run.
Loader started on the hill for Geelong, giving up three hits and two runs over one inning with two strikeouts and two walks. Ash Kaberry and Connor Barrow threw shutout innings in relief.
City West starter Ryan Harris gave up three hits and five runs (four earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking four.
Joel provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Geelong with two runs batted in on a 1-for-1 day. Davenport, Northfield, Sexton, Appeldorff, Joel, and Loader each had one hit.
Geelong's patience at the plate led to seven walks with two apiece for Joel and Kaberry. Davenport, Northfield, Edrin Berisha, and Joel stole multiple bases with 13 total in the game.
Geelong didn't commit a single error in the field, having the most chances with eight.
Hunter Mudford led City West with two hits in two at-bats.
Diamond Valley 13, Ringwood 3
Diamond Valley won big over Ringwood 13-3 on Saturday, although Ringwood scored first with a Harvey Devlin RBI single. Oliver Baillargeon singled to give Diamond Valley a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first.
Diamond Valley scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. Bailey Stewart singled, Eric Webster drew a walk, and Marcus Murphy was struck by a pitch, all scoring one run. Darcy Squire took a bases-loaded walk and Baillargeon singled to add two more.
Diamond Valley also scored five runs on five hits in the third. Kai-Jie Yang doubled, scoring one run, Stewart singled, scoring two, and Webster hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one. Kalan Ellis brought home the last run of the inning on a base hit.
Squire stepped on the bump first for Diamond Valley, giving up three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two.
Nate Bugeja opened the game for Ringwood, giving up five hits and eight runs over one inning, striking out one and walking four.
Diamond Valley tallied 11 hits in the game, including two apiece for Yang, Baillargeon, Stewart, and Ellis. Baillargeon and Stewart both drove in three runs while Squire and Lachlan took two walks apiee with eight total in the game.
The DV defense turned one double play.
Alessio Petruzzielo, Cassius Matthews, and Devlin each collected one hit for Ringwood while Royce Pirera, Matthews, and Devlin each drove in a run. Tom Bowden stole two bases.
Ringwood's defense turned one double play and didn't make any errors as Devlin led the charge with three chances in the field.
Diamond Valley 8, Dandenong 2
Diamond Valley scored five runs in the third inning to defeat Dandenong 8-2. Joash Xavier's RBI double gave Dandenong an early start, but Eric Webster's bases-loaded walk quickly tied things up for Diamond Valley.
Diamond Valley took the lead in the bottom of the second when a wild pitch scored two runs.
Seth Stott started on the mound for Diamond Valley, giving up two hits and one run over two innings with two walks and three strikeouts. Baillargeon appeared in relief.
Xavier led things off on the hill for Dandenong, giving up zero hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two.
Baillargeon, Kalan Ellis, and Leo McAndrew each drove in one run for Diamond Valley. Ethan Kent took two of the team's eight walks while Marcus Murphy, Webster, and Kent stole multiple bases with 12 total in the game.
Brooke Edwards and Xavier both had one hit for Dandenong with the latter knocking in a run. Kade Henry stole four bases.
Ringwood 7, City West 4
Ringwood won 7-4 over City West, scoring in the bottom of the first after Harvey Devlin hit a 2-RBI single and Cassius Matthews had an RBI groundout.
Ringwood added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after a walk by Alessio Petruzzielo and singles to Devlin, Tom Bowden, and Matthews, each scoring one run.
Matthews started the game for Ringwood, giving up one hit and four runs (three earned) over three innings with seven walks and three strikeouts.
Hunter Mudford started the game for City West, giving up one hit and three runs over one inning, striking out none and walking four.
Devlin drove the middle of the lineup, leading Ringwood with three runs batted in on a 2-for-2 day. The team was patient at the plate, tallying nine walks with two bases on balls for Nate Bugeja and Archie Hooper.
Neon Khadka and Lacey Tompkins were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, each driving in a run. Riley Harrington led City West with one hit in two at-bats. They had seven walks total with two apiece for Mudford and Tompkins.
U16 Division 2
Latrobe Valley 11, North East 4
Latrobe Valley won big over North East 11-4 on Saturday, starting with an RBI double by Alex Smith in the first inning, when two runs also scored on an error.
A walk by Connor McKenzie and an error helped Latrobe Valley extend their early lead in the second. They added to their tally in the third after Liam Duncan and McKenzie grounded out, Cooper Boyes was struck by a pitch, and Josh Smith walked, each scoring one run on top of an error.
McKenzie started the game for Latrobe Valley with no hits, walks, or runs in one inning of work, just three strikeouts. Smith, Harry Russ, and Blake Duncan appeared in relief.
Grace Castello stepped on the bump first for North East, giving up one hit and six runs (two earned) with two strikeouts.
Michael Coulthard provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Latrobe Valley with four runs batted in. Smith went 1-for-1 and took two walks alongside Duncan and McKenzie. The team had 10 walks total and eight stolen bases, including multiple SBs for Smith, Duncan, and Harry Kus.
Oscar Maiden led North East with one run batted in while Makayla Pool picked up a timely hit. They walked six times overall.
North East 10, Diamond Valley 6
Despite trailing by as many as four runs, North East rallied to beat Diamond Valley 10-6 on Saturday.
Diamond Valley jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning after Henry Rossa drew a bases-loaded walk. An error and a groundout by Caleb Szeremeta added to the tally.
North East flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on one hit to take a 5-4 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a groundout by Jessie Hoare that drove in two.
Diamond Valley captured the 6-5 lead in the top of the second after an error and a wild pitch. North East responded with five runs in the bottom half, including a bases-loaded walk by Taylor Jones.
Darcey Sanders stepped on the mound first for North East, giving up two hits and six runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking four. Tanner Godenzi and Micheal Nistico appeared in relief.
Zach Papadimitriou stepped on the hill first for Diamond Valley, giving up one hit and five runs (four earned) with four walks and a strikeout.
Hoare led North East with two runs batted in while the lineup collected 11 walks overall, including two apiece for Jones, Josh Wells, Grace Castello, and Ayla McCalloin. Wells stole three bases with six total in the game.
Diamond Valley's Hudson Castle led the team with two runs batted in while Chase Messinger and Kay Zhang had one hit each. They walked nine time with two free passes for Castle, Rossa, and Charlize Chilcott. Messinger and Zhang stole multiple bases with 10 total in the game.
Bendigo 10, Latrobe Valley 6
Bendigo rallied to top Latrobe Valley 10-6 on Saturday despite trailing by as many as five runs during the game.
Latrobe Valley got on board in the top of the first inning after RBI singles to Alex Smith, Harry Kus, and Cooper Boyes. Josh Dortmans hit a 2-RBI double as well.
Bendigo scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the first. A dropped third strike, Deon Strahan single, and bases-loaded walks to Tahlia Dickinson and Sierra Morgan brought home runs. Thomas Ward grounded out to score another before the inning was over.
Latrobe Valley took the lead in the top of the second when Kus singled to score one and make it 6-5. Bendigo flipped the game on its head in the bottom frame, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 10-6 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Josh Ralston that drove in one.
Fletcher Cain opened the game for Bendigo, giving up seven hits and six runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two.
Ward, the number seven hitter for Bendigo, led the way with two runs batted in on a 1-for-2 day. Ward, Strahan, and Ralston each collected one hit while the team took 10 walks. Morgan, Dickinson, Archer Etherton, and Mason Strahan led the side with two walks each. Strahan, Etherton, and Ralston also stole multiple bases with 11 total in the game.
Bendigo didn't commit a single error in the field as Ward had the most chances.
Smith and Kus were a force together in the lineup, both collecting two hits and multiple stolen bases for Latrobe Valley. Kus and Dortmans drove in two runs while the team piled up 10 stolen bases.

For the third straight year, the Under 16 State Winter Championships will be hosted by Latrobe Valley Baseball Association at Morwell Cougars and Traralgon Red Sox Baseball Clubs.
The U16 SWC will run from 13-14 July, with Morwell hosting Division 1 games between City West, Dandenong, Diamond Valley, Geelong, and Ringwood.
Over at Traralgon, Latrobe Valley, Bendigo, Diamond Valley, North East, and Ringwood will play in Division 2.
“We’ve had a great time at all our State Winter Championships so far, and we can’t wait to see what the Under 16 teams bring to the table as they play hard and have fun,” BV Tournament Officer Tony McPherson said. “Thank you to Latrobe Valley Baseball Association and all the dedicated volunteers at Morwell and Traralgon Baseball Clubs who are making this event possible.”
There will be 20 games across Saturday and Sunday morning to decide the semi-finalists leading into an action-packed afternoon of finals.
“Latrobe Valley Baseball Association is excited to once again host the Under 16 State Winter Championship, and we wish everyone the best of luck,” President Brad Jones said. “Thank you to Baseball Victoria and Latrobe City Council for the ongoing opportunity and support, and of course all the club volunteers who bring these events to life.”
Baseball Victoria’s official photography partner Field of View will be around the grounds snapping pictures throughout the weekend, while Claire and Hugo from Ausport Superstore will be at Morwell on Saturday from 8:30am-2:30pm.

With a grand final score of 7-6 over Geelong, Latrobe Valley prevailed as winners of the 2024 Under 18 State Winter Championship, played at Wangaratta Rangers Baseball Club from 6-7 July.

Latrobe Valley 12, Ringwood 5
Latrobe Valley won big over Ringwood 12-5 on Sunday. They got started early, scoring in the top of the first on a Jarrod Thomas single and a wild pitch.
Ringwood took the lead in the bottom frame after an error, an RBI groundout by Ebony Sutherland, a single by Paul Schultz, and a bases-loaded walk by Archie Hooper, each scoring one run.
A groundout by Cameron Branson extended the Ringwood lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the second inning.
Latrobe Valley flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 8-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Austin McConville that drove in two.
Jesse Wilson opened the game for Latrobe Valley, giving up two hits and five runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking four.
Rui Ota led things off on the mound for Ringwood, giving up five hits and eight runs (seven earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking six.
Connor McKenzie tossed two innings of zero-run ball for Latrobe Valley in relief, giving up one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.
McConville set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Latrobe Valley with two hits in three at-bats. McConville joined Liam Duncan and Tristan White with 3 RBIs in the game.
Latrobe Valley had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks with two apiece for Kaiden Hicks, Thomas, and White. Hicks and McConville also stole multiple bases with seven total in the game.
Number seven hitter Schultz showed the depth of Ringwood’s lineup, leading them with two hits in two at-bats. Hooper, Schultz, and Sutherland each drove in one run while Macy Priamo stole two bases and took two of the team’s six walks.
Bendigo 9, North East 7
Bendigo built a seven-run lead in the second inning and then held off North East’s charge for a 9-7 victory on Sunday. North East closed the gap by scoring on three singles and two errors.
Bendigo got on board in the bottom of the second inning after and error and 2-RBI base hits by Marcus Murphy, Callum Bolton, and Elliot Harrington.
North East scored six runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Josh Wells and Austin Clear singled, both scoring one run, and Liam Quinton singled to bring home two. An error scored two more runs before the end of the inning.
Bendigo added one run in the third as Bolton hit a sacrifice fly to make it 8-6.
Bolton led things off on the bump for Bendigo, giving up four hits and six runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking four. Murphy appeared in relief.
Clear stepped on the hill first for North East, giving up five hits and seven runs (four earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking four.
Bolton provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Bendigo with three runs batted in as the 3-hole hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Hayden Rogers set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-2.
Rogers joined Hudson Castle and Travis Shanahan with multiple stolen bases – 10 total in the game plus six walks.
Wells, Clear, Quinton, and Tanner Godenzi each collected one hit for North East. Clear and Quinton drove in one run while Lachlan Rosser led the team with two out of six walks.
Wells, Clear, Rosser, Quinton, Michael Nistico, and Oliver Clear each stole multiple bases with 18 total in the game.
Geelong 10, Diamond Valley 3
Geelong scored seven runs in the third inning on their way to a big victory over Diamond Valley.
Bradyn Barker singled, Jordan Ellis and Luca Delaney doubled, and Zack Hurstfield drew a walk, each scoring one run. Josef Glass followed up with a 2-RBI double and Athena Koulis grounded out to score another.
Diamond Valley got on board in the second inning after Jordan Bell grounded out, scoring two runs.
An error extended the Diamond Valley lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.
Thomas McKee stepped on the hill first for Geelong, giving up three hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking three. Hurstfield appeared in relief.
Samuel Blakely started for Diamond Valley, allowing six hits and seven runs over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one.
Glass and Ellis each collected two hits and 2 RBIs for Geelong. Hurstfield also plated two while Barker, McKee, and Ellis stole multiple bases for eight total in the game.
Joshua Antonacci went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Diamond Valley in hits. Blakely and Bell each drove in one run while Jai Mithen stole two bases.
The DV defense was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error as Nate D’Atri made the most plays with five.
Latrobe Valley 19, North East 1
Jesse Wilson drove in six runs on two hits to lead Latrobe Valley past North East 19-1 on Sunday. Wilson doubled in the first inning, scoring one, and tripled in the fifth inning, scoring three.
North East got on board in the first inning after Josh Wells drew a walk, scoring one run.
Latrobe Valley jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Wilson doubled, Kaiden Hicks grounded out, and Tristan White singled, each scoring one run.
Latrobe Valley added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Michael Coulthard, Jack Thomas, and Hicks singled, all scoring one run. A passed ball added another to the tally.
Austin McConville singled, Wilson grounded out, and North East made an error to add three runs in the bottom of the third.
Latrobe Valley scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Riley Duncan drew a walk, scoring one run, McConville singled, scoring one run, and Wilson tripled, scoring three runs.
Thomas started the game for Latrobe Valley, allowing one hit and one run over three innings with three walks and three strikeouts. Connor McKenzie tossed two innings of shutout ball in relief, giving up zero hits or walks with three strikeouts.
North East starter Wells struck out three and walked three in three innings with nine hits and 10 runs (five earned).
Latrobe Valley tallied 15 hits in the game, including three apiece for McConville and Ryan Glass plus a 2-for-2 day by Duncan. They stole six bases and were sure-handed in the field with zero errors as Wilson had eight chances, the most on the team.
Michael Nistico went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead North East in hits.
Ringwood 6, Geelong 5
Ringwood prevailed over Geelong, although the latter scored on an error in the first and added a run on Cruz Appeldorff’s single in the second.
Geelong added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Jordan Ellis doubled and Riley Peoples singled, each scoring one run.
Ringwood jumped into the lead in the top of the fifth when Aiden Burt drew a walk, scoring one run, Cameron Branson doubled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored another.
Macy Priamo started the game for Ringwood, giving up three hits and five runs (zero earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three.
Bradyn Barker started the game for Geelong, allowing one hit and zero runs or walks over two innings with four strikeouts.
Archie Hooper tossed two and one-third innings of zero-run ball for Ringwood in relief, giving up one hit with two strikeouts and no walks.
Paul Schultz went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the winning team with two runs batted in. Branson went 3-for-4 while Rui Ota went 2-for-3. Schultz paced the team with two out of seven walks. The defense turned a double play, too.
Ellis went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Geelong in hits. Peoples, Ellis, and Appeldorff each drove in one run. Tyson Sherry, Barker, Peoples, Diego Appeldorff, and Ellis stole multiple bases with 12 total in the game.
Bendigo 10, Diamond Valley 9
Bendigo got out to a seven-run lead in the first inning and held on for a 10-9 victory over Diamond Valley on Sunday. DV closed the gap on a single, four walks, and a groundout.
Bendigo took an early lead in the top of the first after Callum Bolton walked, James Grainger singled, Lachlan Dennis doubled, Phoebe Martin walked, and Hudson Castle walked, each scoring one run. A wild pitch added another.
Bendigo added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Bolton singled and Grainger doubled, each scoring one run. They added one run in the third as Josh Ralston stole home, making it 10-4.
Diamond Valley scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Joshua Antonacci singled, scoring two runs, Samuel Blakely grounded out, scoring one run, Ethan Raynor drew a walk, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored another.
Marcus Murphy earned the win for Bendigo, giving up zero hits and four runs (one earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out five and walking seven.
Kay-er Yang struck out six in three and one-third innings for Diamond Valley.
Bolton tossed one and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for Bendigo in relief, giving up zero hits or walks with two strikeouts.
Grainger provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Bendigo with two runs batted in on a 2-for-2 day.
Grainger and Deon Strahan each collected two hits for Bendigo. Grainger, Strahan, Martin, and Ralston stole multiple bases with 13 total in the game.
Nate D’Atri and Antonacci each collected one hit for Diamond Valley. Blakely, Antonacci, and Diego Surace each drove in one run. Blakely and Yang took two walks with 11 total in the game while Antonacci and Yang stole multiple bases for 12 total in the game.
Grand Final: Latrobe Valley 7, Geelong 6
Despite a five-run deficit in the third inning, Geelong almost came all the way back, but Latrobe Valley hung on for the 7-6 grand final win. Geelong closed the gap by scoring on three singles and a double.
Latrobe Valley got on board in the first inning after Jesse Wilson singled, scoring one run. They added one in the second on Austin McConville’s doubled, making it 2-0.
Geelong tied it up in the bottom of the second thanks to a single by Rivi Zdraveski and a steal of home by Luca Delaney.
Latrobe Valley flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 7-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Rhys McKenzie that drove in two.
Riley Peoples stepped on the mound first for Geelong, giving up two hits and one run over one inning, striking out one and walking none.
Jarrod Thomas stepped on the hill first for Latrobe Valley, allowing eight hits and five runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two.
Geelong tallied 10 hits in the game as Tyson Sherry and Bradyn Barker collected two hits. Barker, Peoples, Zdraveski, Diego Appeldorff, and Jordan Ellis each drove in one run.
Geelong’s defense turned two double plays in the game.
Latrobe Valley tallied 11 hits as leadoff hitter McConville went 3-for-3. Thomas, Tristan, White, and Wilson also collected multiple hits while the steady defense didn’t commit a single error. Liam Duncan had the most chances in the field with six.
3rd Ringwood 13, 4th Bendigo 0
Ringwood finished in third place after a shutout victory over Bendigo.
They scored seven runs in the first inning as Rui Ota scored after tagging up and Matthew Brache hit an RBI single. Zach Berryman drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Ota drew another bases-loaded walk. A wild pitch added one more.
Ringwood added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Ebony Sutherland singled, Berryman walked, and Hayley Mather grounded out, each scoring one run.
Ringwood added to their tally in the bottom of the third inning after Bendigo committed an error, Sutherland hit a sacrifice fly, and Brache grounded out, each scoring one run.
Cameron Branson started on the mound for Ringwood, allowing one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out nine and walking three.
Deon Strahan stepped on the mound first for Bendigo, giving up four hits and nine runs (seven earned) with a strikeout.
Brache and Sutherland were a one-two punch in the lineup, both driving in two runs for Ringwood. Sutherland led the side with two hits in two at-bats while Berryman took three of the team’s nine walks.
Patrick Watson stole two out of six bases while Ringwood’s defense was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Sutherland made ten plays, the most on the team.
Marcus Murphy went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Bendigo in hits.
6th Diamond Valley 11, 5th North East 3
Diamond Valley scored seven runs in the fifth inning, helping them defeat North East 11-3 on Sunday. They got on board in the top of the first inning after Baxter Maynard hit a sacrifice fly and Jordan Bell grounded out, each scoring one run.
North East tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Tanner Godenzi and a wild pitch.
Diamond Valley took a 3-2 lead on a wild pitch in the top of the second before Austin Clear’s groundout helped North East tie it back up in the bottom frame.
A groundout by Ethan Raynor gave Diamond Valley a 4-3 lead in the top of the third. They scored seven runs on three hits in the top of the fifth with bases-loaded walks to Maynard, Lincoln Dauparas, and Hugh Clivaz, plus an error and RBI singles by Kay-er Yang and Nate D’Atri.
Godenzi started the game for North East, allowing two hits and three runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking two.
Maynard stepped on the bump first for Diamond Valley, giving up two hits and three runs over four innings, striking out five and walking five.
Liam Quinton and Godenzi were a force together in the lineup, each collecting one hit while batting back-to-back. Godenzi went 1-for-1 with an RBI and multiple stolen bases alongside Rosser. There were seven SBs total in the game.
Leadoff hitter D’Atri led Diamond Valley with three hits in three at-bats. Maynard, Raynor, and Yang each drove in one run while Maynard took two of the team’s nine walks. Maynard, Jai Mithen, Clivaz, and D’Atri stole multiple bases, too.

The 2024 Under 18 State Winter Championship is officially underway at Wangaratta Rangers Baseball Club from 6-7 July.
Bendigo, Geelong, Latrobe Valley, MWBL Diamond Valley, MWBL Ringwood, and host association North Eastern enjoyed an action-packed opening day with lots of high scores.

Geelong 21, North East 0
Riley Peoples collected four hits in four at-bats as Geelong defeated North East on Saturday. He had singles in the first, second, and third innings.
Geelong jumped out to an early lead after Bradyn Barker singled, scoring one run, Jordan Ellis doubled, scoring two runs, and Diego Appeldorff singled, scoring two runs. Tyson Sherry finished things off with a 2-RBI base hit.
Geelong added seven runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Peoples, Rivi Zdravesk, Josef Glass, and Sherry all hit RBI singles. Thomas McKee and Barker drew bases-loaded walks before Ellis singled to bring home one more run.
Another five hits and seven runs came in the third. Cruz Appeldorff singled, scoring one run, Sherry drew a bases-loaded walk, and Ollie Gray induced Zack Hurstfield to hit into a fielder’s choice but one run scored. An error and RBI singles to Peoples and Zdraveski added to the tally.
McKee stepped on the hill first for Geelong, giving up zero hits over two scoreless innings, striking out three and walking one. Hurstfield threw one inning of no-run ball in relief with zero hits, a walk, and a strikeout.
Tanner Godenzi led things off on the bump for North East, giving up three hits and four runs.
Geelong accumulated 15 hits in the game, led by Sherry with four runs batted in on a 2-for-2 day. Zdraveski and Ellis had multiple hits while Barker and Tyson Bell took two walks each with 10 total on the day.
Sherry, Barker, Peoples, and Zdraveski each stole multiple bases as there were 12 overall.
Geelong’s defense turned one double play and didn’t make any errors as Barker had the most plays with four.
Ringwood 6, Diamond Valley 3
Ringwood was victorious against Diamond Valley 6-3 on Saturday. Ringwood got on board in the bottom of the first inning, scoring on a wild pitch and bases-loaded walk. They added one run in the third after Macy Priamo stole home.
Cameron Branson started the game for Ringwood with zero runs or hits, just two walks and five strikeouts over two innings. Priamo, Rui Ota, and Michael Bassi each appeared in relief.
Jesse Hando stepped on the hill first for Diamond Valley, giving up one hit and three runs over one inning with three walks and two strikeouts.
Matthew Brache, Patrick Watson, Blake Halupecki, Paul Schultz, and Berryman each collected one hit for Ringwood. Brache and Watson drove in one run.
Priamo took three of the team's seven walks and stole multiple bases alongside Brache, Archie Hooper, and Berryman. Ringwood stole 14 bases total.
Nate D'atri and Lincoln Dauparas each collected one hit for Diamond Valley while Diego Surace knocked in a run. D'atri and Ethan Raynor stole multiple bases with eight total in the game. The defense also turned a double play.
Latrobe Valley 12, Bendigo 4
Latrobe Valley defeated Bendigo 12-4 on Saturday thanks in part to seven runs in the third inning. Riley Duncan, Ryan Glass, and Harrison Kus drew bases-loaded walks before Jesse Wilson hit a 2-RBI double and Jarrod Thomas knocked in two on a single.
A base hit by Elliot Harrington put Bendigo on the board in the top of the second.
Latrobe Valley flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on one hit to take a 5-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a groundout by Wilson that drove in two.
Connor McKenzie stepped on the mound first for Latrobe Valley, allowing zero hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking none. Austin McConville pitched one inning of zero-run ball in relief with a hit, two walks, and two strikeouts.
Callum Bolton led things off on the hill for Bendigo, allowing one hit and two runs over one inning with two strikeouts and three walks.
Wilson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Latrobe Valley with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. The team tallied 12 walks with two apiece for Kus, Liam Duncan, Michael Coulthard, and Thomas.
Kus, Thomas, and McConville stole multiple bases for Latrobe Valley with 10 overall.
Harrington, Bolton, and Lachlan Dennis each collected one hit for Bendigo while Josh Ralston batted in a run. Harrington stole two bases.
Bendigo didn't commit a single error in the field as Dennis had the most chances in the field with six.
Geelong 16, Bendigo 2
Luca Delaney drove in five runs on two hits to lead Geelong past Bendigo 16-2 on Saturday. Delaney doubled in the second scoring three and walked and tripled in the fourth to bring home two more.
Geelong got on board in the top of the first inning after Bradyn Barker hit a sacrifice fly and Bendigo dropped a third strike, each scoring one run.

Geelong added seven runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. Delaney tripled, McKee doubled, and Zack Hurstfield singled, each scoring one run. Two errors and a bases-loaded walk added to the tally.
Spencer Tyers stepped on the mound first for Geelong, giving up one hit and two runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Sherry and Barker each came on in relief for Geelong to shutout the opposition.
Alaric Tibbett stepped on the bump first for Bendigo, giving up three earned runs over three and one-third innings with two strikeouts and three walks.
Geelong collected 13 hits in the game. Sherry, McKee, and Peoples collected three hits each while Hurstfield went 2-for-4. Sherry, Peoples, and Cruz Appeldorff stole multiple bases with eight total in the game.
Geelong didn't commit a single error in the field as Diego Appeldorff had the most chances with nine.
Cameron Brian and Elliot Harrington each collected one hit for Bendigo as the defense turned a double play.
Latrobe Valley 9, Diamond Valley 2
Latrobe Valley took care of business 9-2 over Diamond Valley. A single by Jesse Hando put DV on board in the top of the first, although LV quickly tied it up on a wild pitch in the bottom frame.
In the bottom of the third, LV broke up the tie when a wild pitch scored one run. Then a walk by Rhys McKenzie followed to extend the lead to 3-1.
Jarrod Thomas started on the bump for LV, giving up one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking two. Jack Thomas threw one inning of no-run ball in relief with no hits or walks and one strikeout.
Joshua Antonacci started the game for DV, giving up zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking two.
Jesse Wilson drove the middle of the lineup, leading LV with two runs batted in on a 1-for-3 day. Austin McConville set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading LV with two hits in three at-bats.
The winning side had patience at the plate, tallying nine walks with two apiece for McKenzie and Thomas. Thomas and McConville stole multiple bases with 11 overall.
Hando and Antonacci were a force together in the lineup, collecting one hit for DV. The defence was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error as Samuel Blakely had the most chances with three.
Ringwood 16, North East 10
Bats were blistered as Ringwood bested North East 16-10. Ringwood collected six hits and North East had five.
Ringwood scored in the top of the first inning after a couple of errors and bases-loaded walks.
Ringwood scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. Sutherland singled, scoring two runs, Aiden Burt hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one, and Paul Schultz singled to bring home another. Hayley Mather singled to score a run and Patrick Watson hit a 2-RBI double, too.
North East scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the second inning. Mikayla Jonker and Liam Quinton drew bases-loaded walks while Blake Boon hit an RBI single and Makayla Pool grounded out to score one.
Ringwood scored seven runs on two hits in the top of the third. Burt singled, scoring three runs, before an error, bases-loaded walk, and wild pitch scored three more. Cameron Branson wrapped it up with an RBI single.
Archie Hooper opened the game for Ringwood, giving up four hits and four runs (one earned) over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Zach Berryman appeared in relief.
Michael Nistico stepped on the mound first for North East, giving up zero hits and five runs (one earned) over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking three.
Branson, Mather, Watson, Schultz, Sutherland, and Burt each collected one hit for Ringwood. Sutherland and Burt were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, both driving in two runs.
Brache paced Ringwood with three out of 10 walks while Branson, Brache, Priamo, Blake Halupecki, Schultz, and Sutherland stole multiple bases (21 total in the game).
Pool led North East with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Pool, Jonker, Boon, Angus Weal, and Nistico collected one hit.
Oscar Maiden, Jonker, Boon, Weal, and Quinton each stole multiple bases for North East with 17 overall.
North East 15, Diamond Valley 13
There were runs aplenty on Saturday as North East beat Diamon Valley 15-13. North East collected six hits while Diamond Valley had five.
Despite falling down by nine runs in the third inning, Diamond Valley fought back, closing the gap on a couple of errors and a single.
North East got on board in the top of the first after a string of bases-loaded walks and a RBI groundout by Lachlan Rosser. A walk by Jonker an an error saw them exten their lead in the second.
North East scored six runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Austin Clear singled, scoring two runs, Ollie Gray doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored a run, and Clear took a bases-loaded walk.
Diamond Valley scored seven runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. Kay-er Yang hit a 2-RBI single and errors added to the tally as well.
Rosser stepped on the hill first for North East, giving up one hit and six runs (five earned) with a strikeout. Luca Barthelmes appeared in relief.
Jordan Bell pitched first for Diamond Valley, giving up one hit and six earned runs with a strikeout.
Outfielder Gray provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading North East with two runs batted in on a 1-for-1 day. Clear and Barthelmes collected two hits apiece while the team took 13 walks. Clear, Tanner Godenzi, Gray, and Jonker led the team with two free passes each.
Rosser, Clear, Wells, Godenzi, and Jonker stole multiple bases with 17 total in the game.
Leadoff hitter Nate D'atri led Diamond Valley with two hits in two at-bats. Jai Mithen and Yang each drove in two runs while the team took eight walks, two apiece for Mithen and Joshua Antonacci. D'atri, Jesse Hando, Lincoln Dauparas, and Yang stole multiple bases with 11 in the game.
Bendigo 14, Ringwood 13
Despite trailing by as many as seven runs, Bendigo rallied to beat Ringwood 14-13 on Saturday. Both sides had four hits in the game.
Ringwood jumped out to the lead in the top of the first after Cameron Branson drew a bases-loaded walk and Ebony Sutherland hit a 2-RBI single. An error, wild pitch, and a walk also scored runs.
Bendigo flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring eight runs on two hits to take an 8-7 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Callum Bolton that drove in two.
Ringwood retook the lead by scoring six runs in the second, making it 13-8. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Watson that drove in three.
Bendigo made it 14-13 their next turn up with six more runs, including a single by Marcus Murphy on an 0-2 count that drove in three.
Paul Schultz led things off on the hill for Ringwood, striking out two in one and one-third innings before Elliot Harrington and James Grainger appeared in relief.
Bolton drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bendigo with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-2 on the day.
Bendigo took 12 walks with two bases on balls for Deon Strahan, Travis Shanahan, Hudson Castle, Grainger, and Josh Ralston. Strahan, Bolton, Shanahan, Castle, Grainger, and Ralston also stole multiple bases with 18 total in the game.
Watson, the number seven hitter for Ringwood, led the way with four runs batted in. Blake Halupecki, Sutherland, and Berryman also had one hit.
Ringwood took 10 walks in the game with two for Branson, who also had multiple stolen bases along with Watson, Rui Ota, Sutherland, and Berryman with 19 total in the game.
Geelong 18, Latrobe Valley 3
Geelong won big over Latrobe Valley 18-3 on Saturday. LV got on board in the top of the first inning after Jesse Wilson and Jarrod Thomas took bases-loaded walks and a wild pitch scored another.
Geelong flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring seven runs on three hits to take a 7-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Diego Appeldorff that drove in two.
Geelong scored seven runs on one hit in the bottom of the second inning. Two errors, two bases-loaded walks, an a Josef Glass RBI single brought home runs.
Four more Geelong runs crossed the plate in the third inning to extend the lead to 18-3. Riley Peoples hit a solo home run to left field, Tyers drew a bases-loaded walk, and Thomas McKee doubled, scoring two runs.
Jordan Ellis started on the mound for Geelong, giving up zero hits and three runs over three innings, striking out seven and walking six.
Kaiden Hicks stepped on the mound first for Latrobe Valley, giving up three hits and seven runs (six earned) over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking three.
McKee, Appeldorff, and Tyers each drove in two runs for Geelong. Peoples led with two hits in three at-bats while McKee took three of the team's 11 walks. Rivi Zdraveski stole two bases with seven total in the game.
Geelong didn't commit a single error in the field as Appeldorff had the most chances with seven.
Thomas paced Latrobe Valley with two out of six walks and a pair of stolen bases.

Next up on Baseball Victoria’s winter tournament calendar is the 2024 Under 18 State Winter Championship at Wangaratta Rangers Baseball Club from 6-7 July.
Bendigo, Geelong, Latrobe Valley, MWBL Diamond Valley, MWBL Ringwood, and host association North Eastern will all compete for the championship.

There will be 15 games across Saturday and Sunday morning to determine the semi-finalists before finals in the afternoon.

Baseball Victoria is pleased to announce the opening of tryout registrations for the 2024 Barclay Cup program. This year's program will include the newly revamped Prospects program, now specifically aimed at youth women aged 13 to 16.
Previously, the BV Youth Women’s Prospects program catered to players aged 16-21. With this revamp, it will exclusively be available for female players selected to participate in the Barclay Cup teams, forming the core of their training in preparation for the tournament.
The Barclay Cup/Youth Women’s Prospects Development program goes beyond the existing club programs, offering participants the chance to further develop their core skills. The program will run over eight weeks under the leadership of Samantha Hamilton, Victorian Women's Head Coach and Australian Women’s Assistant Coach.
"We're thrilled to announce the Barclay Cup/Youth Women’s Prospects. Our main objective is to provide young female athletes with more opportunities to sharpen their skills," Hamilton said. "We are focused on reinforcing key aspects of their game and preparing them to compete at the next level. The potential within Victoria's emerging baseball talent is incredibly promising, and we're excited to be a part of their ongoing path to growth and achievement, both within the game and beyond. We're also committed to upskilling the coaches within the Baseball Victoria Coaching Panel, ensuring a holistic approach to player development."
At the end of the program, Baseball Victoria will send two teams to participate in the third annual Barclay Cup, hosted at the Mackillop Baseball Club (Chapman Gardens Baseball Oval) in Kingswood, NSW, from 29 September to 5 October. The competition features teams from NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, and SA, providing a platform for junior girls to showcase their talent and celebrate the future of women’s baseball in Australia.
To be eligible to participate in the Barclay Cup, girls must be between the ages of 13 and 16 by 31 August 2024. The Barclay Cup Program and trials will be conducted and organised by the BV Performance Pathway team, with tryouts taking place on Wednesday, 24 and 31 July, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at Melbourne Ballpark.
The cost of attending the tournament is approximately $3,900 per player. This fee includes a Prospects training shirt and cap, Barclay Cup uniform package, flights, accommodation, meals, ground transport, tournament entry fee, and more.

At the All-Girls Winter Invitational, 16U winners North Eastern defeated BV Orioles 9-4. Grace Costello was named MVP alongside Mia Llewellyn (Orioles) and Sophie Bird (Angels).
BV Braves won the 13U competition after winning 5-4 over BV Royals. MVPs were Ainslie Harris (Cubs), Hannah Wilson-Powell (Royals), and Madeleine Saunders (Braves).

U14 Division 1
Diamond Valley Red 15, Geelong 0
Oliver Allen drove in six runs on four hits to lead DV Red past Geelong 15-0 on Sunday. Allen hit RBI doubles in the first, third, fourth, and fifth innings.
DV Red opened scoring in the first on two doubles. Maisen McKelvie brought home two on a double. They added one run in the second as James Dennis singled on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, making it 4-0.
DV Red scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Allen doubled, scoring two runs, Joel Roberts singled, scoring one run, and an error scored another. Harper Pitts also had an RBI groundout.
DV Red scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. McKelvie was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Daniel Hwang doubled, scoring two runs, and Allen doubled, scoring two runs.
Hwang started on the mound for DV Red, giving up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Christian Papadopoulos started on the mound for Geelong, giving up eight hits and eight runs (six earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking one. He also went 1-for-2 at the plate.
DV Red tallied 14 hits in the game. Roberts, Dennis, Finn Welte, and Hwang each collected multiple hits while McKelvie and Dennis led the way in stolen bases.
Dandenong 6, City West 0
Cooper Bicknell struck out 11 batters to lead Dandenong past City West 6-0 on Sunday. Bicknell gave up zero hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings while walking two.
Dandenong was first on the board when Lachlan Jeffree was struck by a pitch and a run scored. They added two runs in the second and another in the third on a dropped third strike.
Ethan Castle stepped on the bump first for City West, giving up zero hits and six runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out eight and walking six.
Thomas Skinner threw one and one-third innings of zero-run ball for Dandenong in relief, giving up zero hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Oliver Corrigan led the team with one run batted in. Logan Chambers paced Dandenong with two of the team's six walks. Liam Chiang, Adam Panton, Jeffree, and Chambers stole multiple bases with 11 total in the game.
Dandenong didn't commit a single error in the field as Coadhey Rebbechi had the most chances with 12.
Ringwood 9, Diamond Valley Black 5
Eddie Bush drove in four runs on two hits to lead Ringwood past DV Black. Bush doubled in the first scoring two, singled in the fifth scoring one, and took a bases-loaded walk in the sixth.
Ringwood got on board in the top of the first inning after Chase Potts singled, scoring one run, Bush doubled, scoring two runs, and Tyler Van Nugteren singled, scoring one. Harrison Phillips finished the inning off with an RBI base hit.
Ringwood added one run in the second after Bush lined out. They tacked on five runs on one hit in the top of the sixth. Three bases-loaded walks and a groundout helped the offense.
Clowes pitched our innings in relief for Ringwood, allowing seven hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out four and walking one.
Ryder Ochoa led things off on the mound for Ringwood, giving up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out three and walking none.
Anthony Vogt led things off on the mound for DV Black, allowing nine hits and nine runs (eight earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three.
Ringwood accumulated 10 hits in the game with two for Archer Nichocas and Bush. They had six walks total including two apiece for Ochoa and Potts, who joined Bush with multiple stolen bases as Ringwood recorded 12 SBs total.
Charlie Fegan, Harrison Coventry, and Ben Bird each drove in one run for DV Black while the defence turned a double play.
Geelong 10, Dandenong 7
Geelong rallied to top Dandenong 10-7 on Sunday despite trailing by as many as six runs.
Dandenong got on board in the top of the first inning after Thomas Skinner singled, scoring one run, Oscar Haysom grounded out, scoring one run, and Aiden Incoll singled, scoring one run. A dropped third strike scored two more.
A double by Skinner extended the DBA lead to 7-1 in the top of the second inning. Geelong took an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the fourth thanks to singles by Cale Morris and Tully McLean.
Morris pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Geelong, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out six and walking none.
Max Talpey led things off on the hill for Geelong, giving up five hits and seven runs (three earned) with a strikeout and two walks.
Incoll started on the hill for Dandenong, allowing one hit and five runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking five.
Morris and Teal Loone were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, each driving in two runs for Geelong. Morris, Loone, McLean, and Dallas Hall each collected one hit.
Flynn Sargill paced Geelong with three walks as the team took ten total. Scargill, Morris, and Loone stole multiple bases with nine overall throughout the game.
Skinner drove the middle of the lineup, leading Dandenong with three runs batted in as the infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Skinner and Xavier Woodcock collected two hits with the latter stealing three bases.
Dandenong turned one double play in the game.
Diamond Valley Red 7, Ringwood 1
Maisen McKelvie collected three hits in three at-bats as DV Red defeated Ringwood 7-1 on Sunday. McKelvie doubled in the second and fourth innings and hit a home run to centre field in the sixth.
At the bottom of DV Red's lineup, Alex Filmer, McKelvie, and Kella De Zylva combined for four of the team's seven hits, scoring six runs and driving in four.
A walk by James Dennis put DV Red on the board in the top of the first. They added one run in the second after Heath Keiper grounded out.
McKelvie homered to center field, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth for DV Red. He started the game too, giving up three hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking four. Joel Roberts pitched in relief.
Eddie Bush started the game for Ringwood, giving up five hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking seven.
DV Red had patience at the plate, piling up 11 walks for the game with two bases on balls for Filmer, Oliver Allen, Dennis, and Keiper. Filmer stole two bases with six total for the team.
DV Re turned one double play and didn't commit a single error as Harper Pitts had the most chances in the field with nine.
Ewan Clowes and Chase Potts each drove in one run for Ringwood. Potts led the side with two hits in three at-bats while Ryder Ochoa stole two bases. The defense turned a double play, too.
City West 17, Diamond Valley Black 14
Bats were blistered as City West outlasted Diamond Valley Black 17-14. City West collected seven hits while DV Black had eight.
Both teams had their chances in the game, but eventually City West took the lead on a walk in the fourth inning. The winners started early after a Noah Choi single and an error in the first.
DV Black captured a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first after Cooper Vincent and Ben Bird hit RBI singles. City West scored five runs on three hits their next time up to take a 7-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Hayden Harrington after a six-pitch at-bat that drove in two.
DV Black made it 8-7 in the bottom frame, scoring five runs on two hits including a 2-RBI single by Alexandra Egan.
City West flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 12-8 lead. Harrington's single drove in two.
The back-and-forth battle continued as DV Black tacked on five runs for a 13-12 lead in the bottom of the third. Eva Lane took a bases-loaded walk.
In the top of the fourth, City West made the most of one hit and an error to take a 17-13 lead.
Harrington stepped on the mound first for City West, throwing two and two-thirds innings while also knocking in three runs on a 2-for-3 day at the plate.
Ethan Hoff led City West with two out of eight walks. Jun Yong Ho, Darcy Boyd, Harrington, Choi, and Hoff all stole multiple bases with 14 total.
DV Black starter Egan struck out five in one and two-thirds innings and also knocked in two runs alongside Nixon Dikranis. Anthony Vogt went 2-for-2 while Oliver Friend took three walks.
Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. Madeline Hayes, Vogt, Friend, and Bird stole multiple bases with 11 total.
5th Place: Diamond Valley Black 13, City West 2
City West was first on the board with an RBI single by Jun Young, but Diamond Valley quickly responded and eventually rolled to a 13-2 victory.
Diamond Valley scored five runs on six hits to take a 5-1 lead and added five more in the second. Nixon Dikranis drew a walk, scoring one run, Bird singled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored two runs.
A single by Cohen Power extended the DV Black lead to 11-1 in the bottom of the third.
Young stepped on the bump first for City West, striking out three during one and one-third innings.
DV Black starter Charlie Fegan gave up one hit and one run over three innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Tommy Kennedy and Young each collected one hit for City West. Noah Choi and Hayden Harrington stole multiple bases with eight total in the game.
The defense was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Choi had the most chances with three.
DV Black piled up 12 hits in the game. Jackson Frendo went 3-for-3 as the second baseman led the team with two runs batted in. Power went 2-for-2 while seven players stole multiple bases.
The winning defense didn't commit a single error as Nate Brunning made the most plays with nine.
3rd Place: Ringwood 6, Dandenong 2
Grand Final: Diamond Valley Red 9, Geelong 2
Diamond Valley took care of business in the grand final, winning 9-2. They scored in the bottom of the second inning after an error and RBI singles to Finn Welte and Maisen Ricketts.
Diamond Valley added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Maisen McKelvie singled and James Dennis grounded out, each scoring one run.
Oliver Allen started on the hill for Diamond Valley, giving up four hits and one run over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking four.
Cale Morris started the game for Geelong, allowing nine hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking none.
Welte pitched one and one-third innings of scoreless ball in relief, giving up zero hits or walks with a strikeout.
Diamond Valley collected 14 hits in the game. McKelvie drove the middle of the lineup with three runs batted in on a 2-for-3 day. Ricketts, Allen, McKelvie, Daniel Hwang, Welte, and Harper Pitts each collected two hits. Kella De Zylva, Welte, and Pitts stole multiple bases with seven total in the game.
The Diamond Valley defense turned one double play in the game and didn't make any errors. McKelvie made the most plays with seven.
Teal Loone, Rive Abram, Tully McLean, and Morris each collected one hit. McLean led the side with one run batted in.
U14 Division 2
Latrobe Valley 7, Bendigo 5
Latrobe Valley beat Bendigo 7-5 on Sunday. Bendigo opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two groundouts.
Latrobe Valley took the lead in the bottom of the first inning on a dropped third strike and an error.
Sioeli Parson singled on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, helping Bendigo tie the game at three in the top of the second.
In the bottom of the second, Latrobe Valley broke up the tie when Blake Duncan homered to right field, scoring three runs. Then a single by Reid Barnes followed to extend the lead to 7-3.
Ryan Matthews began the game for Latrobe Valley. They gave up six hits and five runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Duncan threw one inning of scoreless ball, giving up zero hits or walks with two strikeouts.
Parson stepped on the bump first for Bendigo. The starting pitcher gave up zero hits and three runs (one earned) over one inning, striking out four and walking three.
Duncan provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Latrobe Valley with two runs batted in on a 1-for-3 day. Barnes, Connor Gray, Duncan, and Quinn McConville each collected one hit. Hayden Ashworth took two of the team's six walks.
Barnes, Gray, and McConville each stole multiple bases with 10 total in the game.
Chester Ferguson seized opportunities, leading Bendigo with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day.
Ferguson, Parson, Mason Strahan, Jasmine Etherton, Lachlan Penna, and Oliver Hanna each collected one hit while Strahan stole two bases.
Bendigo ran wild on the base paths, collecting eight stolen bases for the game.
Diamond Valley 8, Ringwood 2
Diamond Valley won big over Ringwood on Sunday after scoring early. Mateo Gonzalez Mathews walked and stole home in the first.
Nolan Johnson was struck by a pitch, helping Ringwood tie the game at two in the top of the third. Diamond Valley retook the lead in the bottom frame after a couple of bases-loaded walks and a groundout.
Chris Precott started for Ringwood, giving up one hit and six runs over two and one-third innings with four strikeouts.
Baessler and Jonty Duffell appeared in relief for Diamond Valley. Isaac Davis set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the side with two hits in two at-bats. Baessler, Gupta, and Davis each drove in one run.
Riley O'Callaghan led Diamond Valley with two walks as the team took nine total. O'Callaghan, Baessler, Davis, Duffell, and Gonzalez Mathews stole multiple bases with 22 recorded in the game.
The DV defense was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Davis made the most plays with seven.
Johnson and Elias Ananas each drove in one run for Ringwood while Nathan Bray went 2-for-2. Bray and Tate Sadler stole multiple bases while the defense didn't make any errors. Bray made the most plays with four.
Diamond Valley 9, Bendigo 7
Diamond Valley got out to a five-run lead in the first inning and held on for a 9-7 victory over Bendigo, who closed the gap on three walks, a groundout, a single, and a steal of home.
In the first inning, Sullivan Cassidy singled, Josh Baessler walked, Gupta singled, Lucas Amos grounded out, and Gupta stole home, each scoring one run for Diamond Valley. They scored again in the second on a dropped third strike.
Bendigo tied it up in the bottom of the second thanks to a steal of home by Jasmine Etherton and walks by Chad Strahan and Sioeli Parson.
Diamond Valley didn't take the lead until later in the game. It was tied at seven in the top of the third when Suraj Gupta singled, scoring two runs.
Baessler started the game for Diamond Valley, giving up one hit and one run. Mason Strahan stepped on the bump first for Bendigo. The righty gave up six hits and nine runs (seven earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three.
Lucas Bunt pitched one inning of no-run ball for Diamond Valley, giving up zero hits, striking out two and walking one.
Gupta led Diamond Valley with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-2 on the day while Cassidy, Gupta, and Seth Seneviratne stole multiple bases. The team had 12 stolen bases plus strong defense with no errors. Cassidy had the most chances in the field with two.
Parson and Strahan were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, both driving in two runs. Strahan went 2-for-2 and took two walks alongside Zachery Banks-Broome. There were nine walks total in the game.
Samson Corry, Ethan Van Der Aarsen, Russell Barham, Etherton, and Strahan each stole multiple bases with 14 total. Bendigo didn't commit a single error in the field as Taylor Hanna had the most chances with three.
North East 12, Latrobe Valley 2
North East won big over Latrobe Valley 12-2 after a single by Roman Ilieuski got the offense going in the bottom of the first.
Fergus Hay grounded out to tie it up at one in the top of the second, although a passed ball gave North East a 2-1 lead in the bottom frame.
North East scored five runs on two hits in the third. Griffith Meyers singled, Morrie Evans grounded out, and Mack Cannan drew a walk, each scoring a run. An error and a wild pitch also helped their cause.
Five more runs scored on four hits in the bottom of the fourth. Evans drew a walk, scoring one run before RBI base hits to Harlan Gambier, Tom Snell, Jordan Daniel, and Lucas Hoare.
Meyers started on the mound for North East. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Evans threw one inning of zero-run ball with no hits, just two walks and a strikeout.
Emily Glass stepped on the bump first for Latrobe Valley, allowing seven hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking one.
North East tallied 11 hits in the game. Snell, Ilieuski, and Hoare each collected two hits while Meyers, Daniel, Snell, Ilieuski, Evans, Gambier, and Hoare knocked in runs. Evans took two of the team's seven walks.
Meyers, Ilieuski, Evans, Hoare, and Ethan Simmons stole multiple bases with 12 total in the game. The defense was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ilieuski made the most plays with eight.
Hay led Latrobe Valley with one run batted in. Hudson Duncan, Connor Gray, and Glass stole multiple bases with six total in the game.
Later in the day, the two sides faced off once more with North East winning 13-5 to take out the Under 14 Division 2 State Winter Championship.
3rd Place: Ringwood 10, Bendigo 0
Ringwood got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Oscar Maitin singled, Noah Moffitt walked, and a wild pitch scored another.
Sioeli Parson pitched for Bendigo, giving up two hits and three runs over two innings, striking out three and walking three.
Ringwood starter Elias Ananas gave up one hit and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.
Parson stole three bases and went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Bendigo in hits.
Nathan Bray and Maitin each collected two hits for Ringwood. Bray, Maitin, and Aiden Jeffree each drove in two runs while Jeffree stole two bases. They had patience at the plate, tallying six walks.
Ringwood didn't commit a single error as Lee had the most chances in the field with five.
Grand Final: North East 13, Latrobe Valley 5

BV Royals 6, BV Braves 5
BV Royals were triumphant over BV Braves 6-5 on Sunday. Braves got on board in the top of the first inning after Madeleine S singled, Pia A walked, and an error, each scoring one run.
Royals tied it up in the bottom of the first on singles by Lillie B and Elizabeth V, plus a wild pitch.
Madeleine singled to give Braves a 4-3 lead in the top of the second. They added one run in the third after Felicity P singled.
Royals took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Lila A singled, Hannah W singled, and Amelia B walked, each scoring one run.
Braves captured an 8-6 lead in the top of the fourth when Georgia L hit an inside the park home run, scoring two, and Zoe E grounded out, scoring one.
Hannah stepped on the bump first for Royals, giving up two hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings with three strikeouts and four walks. Sarah F appeared in relief.
Jordan A opened the game for Braves, giving up six hits and six runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out six and talking two.
Lillie went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Royals in hits. Lila, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Amelia each drove in one run while Lila and Lillie stole multiple bases with six total in the game.
Madeleine and Georgia were a one-two punch in the lineup, both driving in two runs for Braves. Pia took three of the team's 10 walks while Emily M, Madeleine, Quorra I, Pia, and Felicity stole multiple bases for 15 total.
BV Braves 10, BV Cubs 5
BV Braves defeated Cubs 10-5 on Sunday, although Cubs scored first. Ainslie H singled to bring home two in the opening frame.
Braves scored five runs to take a 5-3 lead in the bottom half before adding another five in the second. Quorra I drew a walk, Jordan A singled, Madeleine S walked, Georgia L was struck by a pitch, and a wild pitch scored one more.
Pia A stepped on the bump first for Braves, allowing three hits and four runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking five. Georgia and Madeleine appeared in relief.
Madeleine and Jordan were a force together in the lineup, each collecting one hit while batting back-to-back. Georgia, Madeleine, Quorra, and Jordan picked up one RBI each while Quorra paced the team with two out of 10 walks.
Pia, Emily M, and Quorra all stole multiple bases with 11 total in the game, while the defense didn't make any errors. Quorra had the most chances in the field with six.
Ainslie drove the middle of the Cubs lineup with two runs batted in on a 1-for-2 day. Starting pitcher Lucy, Louise N, and Ainslie collected one hit apiece while Taylor E and Lucy had four of the team's nine walks. Louise, Ainslie, Lucy, and Sarah F stole multiple bases with 14 in the game.
Cubs didn't commit a single error in the field as Ainslie had the most chances.
BV Cubs 10, BV Royals 0
Cubs got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Ainslie H singled, Alicia T hit into a fielder's choice, Louise N singled, Mackenzie F walked, and Lucy G walked, each scoring one run.
Cubs added one run in the second after Ainslie grounded out. Louise was struck by a pitch, Isla T walked, Mackenzie singled, and Haifa M walked to score runs in the third.
Taylor E started on the bump for Cubs, throwing two scoreless innings with no hits, just two walks and three strikeouts. Alicia threw one inning of shutout ball in relief with two strikeouts and no runs or hits.
Lilly R struck out two in an inning of work for Royals.
Taylor led Cubs with two hits in three at-bats. Louise and Mackenzie drove in two runs while Isla took three of the team's 10 walks. Taylor and Alicia stole multiple bases with seven total in the game.

North East 9, BV Angels 6
North East trailed by as many as five but came back to top BV Angels 9-6 on Sunday. Angels scored in the first after Sophie Bird and Kendra Rutgers singled and Hayley Mather, Lacey Tompkins, and Athena Koulis walked, each scoring one run.
North East flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 9-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Makiah McCallum after a seven-pitch at-bat that drove in two.
McCallum led things off on the hill for North East, giving up three hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking eight. Grace Castello appeared in relief.
Mather stepped on the mound first for Angels, giving up zero hits and six runs (three earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking four.
Sophie Berry and McCallum were a force together in the lineup, each collecting one hit for North East. McCallum led the side with two runs batted in, going 1-for-2 on the day. Paige Anders and Maddie Ryan stole multiple bases while there were seven walks in the game.
North East was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error as Ryan made the most plays with three.
Rutgers, Tompkins, and Koulis each drove in one run for Angels while Bird went 2-for-2. They had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game with two apiece for Blair Murphy and Mather. Alannah Rose, Bird, Rutgers, Lily Byrne, and Mather stole multiple bases with 15 total.
BV Orioles 14, BV Angels 1
Alyssa Jamieson drove in four runs on three hits to lead BV Orioles past BV Angels 14-1 on Sunday. Jamieson singled in the first scoring two, singled in the second scoring one, and singled in the third scoring one.
Orioles got on board in the top of the first inning after Sarah Rogers singled, scoring one run, Jamieson singled, scoring two runs, and Kendra Rutgers induced Athena Koulis to hit into a fielder's choice but one run scored. Ruby Llewellyn drew a bases-loaded walk to score a run, too.
Orioles added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Jamieson and Mia Llewellyn singled, Sierra Morgan hit into a fielder's choice, and Koulis walked, each scoring one run.
They scored five runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Rogers, Jamieson, and Koulis hit RBI singles and Bailey Finn took a bases-loaded walk.
Jamieson stepped on the bump first for Orioles. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking two.
Rogers collected two hits for Orioles in two at-bats. The team took 12 walks with two apiece for Llewellyn, Teagan Hando, and Lacey Tompkins. Hando, Rogers, and Jamieson stole eight bases in the game.
Alannah Rose, Sophie Bird, Andie Torcasio, and Matilda Bakers collected one hit for Angels. Bakers knocked in a run and Torcasio stole two bases.
North East 9, BV Orioles 4
North East overpowered Orioles 9-4 after jumping out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Makayla Pool doubled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Jessie Hoare singled, scoring one run, and Sophie Anders drew a bases-loaded walk.
They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Ayla McCallum walked, Paige Anders doubled, and Charlotte Kenny hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.
Sophie Berry opened the game for North East, giving up one hit and two runs (zero earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Anders appeared in relief.
Matilda Baker provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading North East with two runs batted in. Pool, Anders, and Hoare each collected one hit.
North East had a strong eye at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Anders and McCallum led the team with two bases on balls each. Grace Castello and Bery each stole multiple bases.

Geelong 11, Ringwood 8
Geelong were victorious against Ringwood 11-8 on Saturday after taking an early lead on a wild pitch and a 2-RBI double by Christian Papadopoulos.
They added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Flynn Scargill doubled, Cale Morris lined out, and Papadopoulos singled, each scoring one run.
Ringwood scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. Archer Nichocas singled, scoring one run, Harrison Phillips singled, scoring two runs, Ryder Ochoa doubled, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.
Geelong scored five runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Scargill homered to left field, scoring three runs, Morris doubled, scoring one run, and Papadopoulos drew a walk, scoring one run.
Morris stepped on the bump first for Geelong. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and two runs over one inning, striking out none and walking one. Scargill pitched in relief.
Hayden Dogany stepped on the hill first for Ringwood, striking out two and allowing six hits in two and one-third innings.
Papadopoulos went 2-for-2 at the plate as the infielder led the team with four runs batted in. Scargill and Papadopoulos each collected two hits.
Geelong tallied 10 walks for the game with two apiece for Lachie Halloran, Georg Steer, and Rive Abram. Halloran, Morris, Teal Loone, Steer, Abram, and Dallas Hall each stole multiple bases with 18 in the game.
Geelong was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Steer had the most chances in the field with four.
Chase Potts and Phillips each drove in two runs for Ringwood. Nichocas went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Ringwood in hits.
Diamond Valley Red 11, City West 1
Diamond Valley Red took care of business on Saturday, winning 11-1 over City West. They got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Mason Mckelver doubled, scoring three runs, and an error and a wild pitch scored two more.
Oliver Allen scored after tagging up to make it 6-1 in the second before a five-run third. Kella Dezyliva grounded out, scoring two runs and Daniel Hwang drew a walk, scoring one run. An error and hit by pitch brought home two more.
Mckelver started on the hill for Diamond Valley, throwing a scoreless inning with no hits, just two walks and three strikeouts. Heath Keiper tossed one and one-third innings of shutout ball in relief with four strikeouts, one walk, and zero hits.
Mckelver provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Diamond Valley with two runs batted in as the pitcher went 1-for-1. He joined Dezyliva, Finn Welte, and Ricketts with one hit each. The team stole six bases and walked eight times, including two free passes for Joel Roberts and Allen.
Dandenong 7, Diamond Valley Black 6
Dandenong beat Diamond Valley 7-6 after a back-and-forth battle. DV scored first after Nixon Dikranis and Alexandra Egan singled and a wild pitch scored another run, jumping out to a 3-0 start.
Dandenong quickly tied it up in the bottom of the first thanks to a walk by Adam Panton, a single by Oscar Haysom, and a lineout by Ben Peck.
DV took the lead back in the top of the second as a dropped third strike scored one run, making it a 4-3 ballgame. Dandenong soon responded as Cooper Bicknell singled, Liam Chiang doubled, and Coadhey Rebbechi lined out, each scoring one run as they pulled in front 7-4.
Haysom started on the bump for Dandenong, allowing seven hits and six runs (three earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. Thomas Skinner appeared in relief.
Dikranis started on the hill for DV, giving up eight hits and seven runs (five earned) over three and one-third innings with two strikeouts and five walks.
Chiang and Haysom were a one-two punch in the lineup, each driving in one run for Dandenong as Xavier Woodcock stole two bases. Dandenong turned one double play in the game.
Dikranis, Egan, and Eva Lane each drove in one run for DV. Anthony Vogt went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
Ringwood 12, City West 6
Chase Potts drove in four runs on three hits to lead Ringwood past City West 12-6 on Saturday as he had 2-RBI doubles in the first and third innings.
Ringwood took an early lead in the top of the first after Potts doubled, scoring two runs, Eddie Bush doubled, scoring one run, Hugh Hockley singled, scoring one run, and Ryder Ochoa drew a walk, scoring one run.
A single by Hockley and a passed ball helped Ringwood extend their early lead in the second. Potts doubled and Hugo Bellina grounded out, each scoring two runs in the top of the third inning.
Hockley started the game for Ringwood, giving up three hits and six runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out six.
Noah Choi opened the game for City West, striking out five in two and two-thirds innings.
Hockley collected two hits in three at-bats as Ringwood had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Ochoa, Bush, and Finn Wilson led the team with two free passes each. Ochoa, Potts, Hockley, Bush, and Wilson each stole multiple bases with 16 total.
Ringwood didn't commit a single error in the field as Bellina had the most chances with three.
Ayrton Lu went 1-for-1 at the plate as the infielder led the side with two runs batted in. Diamond Valley Red 8, Dandenong 1
Diamond Valley Red scored five runs in the second inning, helping them defeat Dandenong 8-1 on Saturday. Mason McKelvie grounded out, scoring one run, followed by RBI singles for Maisen Ricketts, Daniel Hwang, and Oliver Allen.
The winning side added three more runs in the bottom of the third on two hits. An error scored one run and McKelvie homered to centre field, scoring two.
Allen started on the bump for Diamond Valley, allowing one hit over one and two-thirds scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks.
Aiden Incoll started for Dandenong, giving up zero hits and zero runs over one inning with two walks.
Harper Pitts threw one and one-third innings of shutout ball for Diamond Valley in relief, giving up zero hits and no walks with one strikeout.
McKelvie led Diamond Valley with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The first baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. McKelvie, Pitts, Kella De Zylva, Hwang, James Dennis, Ricketts, Allen, and Joel Roberts each collected one hit.
De Zylva, Hwang, and Ricketts each stole multiple bases with nine total for the winning side. The defense didn't commit a single error in the field as Ricketts had the most chances with seven.
Tommy Skinner and Cooper Bicknell each collected one hit for Dandenong. Bicknell went 1-for-1 at the plate as the catcher led the team with one run batted in.
Geelong 10, Diamond Valley Black 6
Geelong was victorious 10-6 although Diamond Valley struck first, opening the scoring on two walks to start the game. Geelong quickly tied it up thanks to singles by George Steer and Christian Papadopoulos.
Diamond Valley broke up the tie in the top of the third when Fegan singled, scoring one run. A double by Nate Brunning followed to extend the lead to 5-3.
Geelong flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 8-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Rive Abram that drove in two.
Jackson Frendo opened the game for Diamond Valley, giving up six hits and seven runs (five earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking one.
Teal Loone threw two innings of shutout ball for Geelong in relief. The reliever gave up three hits, striking out two and walking none.
Cale Morris provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Geelong with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day.
Steer, Papadopoulos, and Morris each collected two hits for Geelong. Flynn Scargill, Steer, and Morris each stole multiple bases with 13 total in the game.
Geelong was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Abram had the most fielding chances with six.
Brunning, Fegan, and Eva Lane each drove in one run for Diamond Valley. Lane went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the side in hits while Fegan stole two bases. The defense turned a double play, too.
Diamond Valley Red 10, Diamond Valley Black 9
In a battle of Diamond Valley, the Red side won 10-9 despite DV Black scoring first. Nixon Dikranis singled, Oliver Friend walked, and Aidan Haxton walked, each scoring one run.
DV Red flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 5-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Daniel Hwang that drove in two.
In the top of the second inning, DV Black went back into the lead after Ben Bird, Friend, Nate Brunning, and Haxton took bases-loaded walks.
DV Red regained the lead in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 10-7 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Hwang stepped on the hill first for DV Red. The starting pitcher gave up zero hits and two runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking three. Harper Pitts and Kella De Zylva pitched in relief.
Bird began the game for DV Black, allowing two hits and five runs.
Alex Filmer, Joel Roberts, Oliver Allen, De Zylva, and Hwang each collected one hit for DV Red. Roberts, De Zylva, and Hwang each drove in one run, plus eight stolen bases across the team.
Dikranis and Eva Lane collected one hit for DV Black. Haxton and Friend each drove in two runs while the whole team practiced patience at the plate, tallying 12 walks including two apiece for Cooper Vincent, Haxton, Charlie Fegan, Friend, and Bird. Bird and Lane both stole multiple bases with eight total in the game.
Geelong 10, City West 0
Geelong won big over City West 10-0 after starting off strong. Cale Morris hit an RBI double, Teal Loone took a bases-loaded walk, and Tully Mclean grounded out to score two runs in the first.
Geelong scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second. Flynn Scargill drew a walk, scoring one run, Morris singled, scoring one run, and Christian Papadopoulos doubled, scoring two runs. Mclean singled to score one last run to end the inning.
A walk by Morris extended the Geelong lead to 10-0 in the bottom of the third.
Max Talpey began the game for Geelong, giving up one hit and zero runs over one inning with three strikeouts and a walk. Loone tossed two innings of scoreless ball in relief with zero hits, one walk, and three strikeouts.
Spencer Taylor started the game for City West, giving up four hits with two strikeouts over one and two-thirds innings.
Morris went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Geelong in hits. Mclean and Morris each drove in three runs while Scargill took three of the team's 11 walks. Dallas Hall, Morris, and Scargill stole multiple bases with 10 total in the game.

Ethan Castle led City West with one hit in two at-bats. The team was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Darcy Boyd made the most plays with three.
Ringwood 15, Dandenong 0
Ringwood picked up a 15-0 victory after starting strong with an RBI double by Chase Potts and RBI singles by Eddie Bush, Hayden Dogany, and Tyler Van Nugteren. Ryder Ochoa also walked to score a run in the first inning.
They added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Potts doubled and Dogany walked, with five more runs coming home in the third. Bush hit an RBI single, followed by a hit by pitch, and bases-loaded walks.
Ewan Clowes opened the game for Ringwood, giving up one hit in a scoreless inning with two walks. Ochoa and Archer Nichocas pitched in relief.
Dandenong's Lachlan Jefree picked up one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning.
Potts and Bush were a force together in the lineup, both collecting two hits for Ringwood while hitting back-to-back. Dogany, Ochoa, Potts, Bush, and Van Nugteren each drove in two runs while Clowes, Ochoa, and Fabian Montefusco took three walks each.
Bush stole two bases and had the most chances in the field with five.
Cooper Bicknell and Aiden Incoll each collected one hit for Dandenong. Xavier Woodcock stole two bases.

Ringwood 7, Bendigo 3
Ringwood got ahead early on a single by Elias, although Bendigo took the lead after Blake Hando and Chester Ferguson walked and a struck by pitch scored another run.
Ringwood flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring six runs on one hit to take a 8-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Nathan drove in two.
Nolan stepped on the mound first for Ringwood, allowing three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out four and walking three.
Hando stepped on the bump first for Bendigo. The righty allowed zero hits and two runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking two.
Nathan and Elias each collected one hit for Ringwood each collected one hit and 2 RBIs for Ringwood. The team collected 11 walks with two apiece for Tate, Nolan, and Chris. The defence was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error as Elias made the most plays with four.
Sioeli Parson, Zachery Banks-Broome, and Mason Strahan each collected one hit for Bendigo while Ferguson and Van Der Aarsen drove in runs. Bendigo didn't make any errors as Lachlan Penna led the way with six plays.
North East 8, Diamond Valley 3
North East defeated Diamond Valley 8-3 on Saturday. DV was first on the board but North East quickly tied it up with a bases-loaded walk by Edward Carmidy in the bottom of the second.
North East flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 6-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a groundout by Tom Snell that drove in two.
Kazu Anderson-Ohata pitched three and one-third innings in relief for North East, giving up one hit and two runs (zero earned) with a walk and six strikeouts. Starter Roman Ilieuski gave up zero hits and one run over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking two.
Riley O'Callaghan stepped on the hill first for Diamond Valley, allowing five hits and six runs (three earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking four.
Carmidy led North East with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. They went 1-for-1 on the day. Ilieuski went 2-for-3 while Anderson-Ohata took two out of seven walks. Snell stole two bases as well.
Sullivan Cassidy led the DV team with one run batted in. Suraj Gupta went 1-for-2 at the plate while Isaac Davis and Gupta both stole multiple bases, with eight total in the game.
Diamond Valley 9, Latrobe Valley 7
Diamond Valley were victorious against Latrobe Valley 9-7 on Saturday. LVBA opened the scoring in the first on Connor Gray's RBI single. DV responded with five runs on two hits in the bottom of the first to take a 5-1 lead.
LVBA scored five runs to make it 6-5 in the second, including two on a dropped third strike. Lucas Bunt grounded out to help DV tie the game at six in the bottom half.
Hunter Duncan grounded out, scoring one run, to give LVBA a 7-6 lead in the third. Isaac Davies hit an RBI single to put DV back in front 8-7.
Seth Seneviratne led things off on the mound for DV, giving up two hits and two runs over one inning with a walk and no strikeouts. Mateo Gonzalez Mathews, Jonty Duffell, Davies, and Bunt all appeared in relief.
Davies drove the middle of the lineup, leading DV with three runs batted in on a 2-for-2 day. The team had eight walks with two apiece for Sullivan Cassidy, Josh Baessler, and Suraj Gupta.
DV stole 15 bases in the game, with two each for Riley O'Callaghan, Cassidy, Davies, Gupta, Lucas Amos, and Seneviratne.
Gray and Blake Duncan were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit and an RBI for LVBA while hitting back-to-back. Quinn McConville and Duncan each stole multiple bases with nine total in the game, plus a double play on defense.
Ringwood 9, North East 6
Despite trailing by as many as five runs, Ringwood rallied to beat North East 9-6.
North East got on board in the top of the first inning after Griffith Meyers singled and Tom Snell, Edward Carmidy, and Sebastion Clear walked, each scoring one run. Riley Coune also grounded out to score a run.
Ringwood made the score 7-5 in the bottom of the second after Tate singled, scoring one run, Chris doubled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run.
Lee started on the hill for Ringwood, allowing one hit and five runs with a strikeout. Snell stepped on the bump first for North East, giving up one hit and three runs (zero earned) over one-third of an inning, striking out three and walking one. Oscar appeared in relief.
Chris provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Ringwood with two runs batted in on a 1-for-1 day. Aiden Jeffree, Elias, Chris, Tate, and Ash each collected one hit with multiple stolen bases between them, too. There were 12 stolen bases total plus a double play on defense.
Meyers, Carmidy, Coune, and Clear each drove in one run for North East while the team's patience at the plate led to eight walks. Roman Ilieuski and Mack Cannan led the team with two bases on balls each, plus multiple stolen bases for a total of 12.
North East 4, Bendigo 3
North East came away with a 4-3 victory despite Bendigo scoring first. Mason Strahan and Imogene Penna walked, each scoring a run in the first.
North East took the lead in the bottom half after Morrie Evans doubled and Roman Ilieuski grounded out, each scoring a run along with a dropped third strike. They added a run in the second on Ethan Simmons groundout, making it 4-2.

Bendigo was sure-handed in the field and didn't make any errors as Hando had the most chances with four.
Latrobe Valley 10, Ringwood 5
Blake Duncan collected three hits in three at-bats as Latrobe Valley defeated Ringwood 10-5. Duncan doubled in the first and second innings with a base hit in the third.
Latrobe Valley got on board in the first after Connor Gray singled, scoring two runs, and Trenton Moyle-Forrester was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Duncan doubled, scoring two runs, and Reid Barnes and Hunter Duncan singled, each scoring one.
Ringwood tallied five runs on two hits in the top of the third. Nathan Bray doubled, scoring one run, Lee Maditianos grounded out, scoring one run,and Chris Precott singled, scoring two runs. Aiden Jeffree also took a bases-loaded walk.
Latrobe Valley added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Hayden Ashworth doubled and Duncan singled, each scoring one run.
Gray started on the mound for Latrobe Valley. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking three.
Finley Hooper started on the bump for Ringwood, giving up five hits and seven runs over one inning, striking out two and walking four.
Emily Glass threw one and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for Latrobe Valley in relief, giving up zero hits with a strikeout and no walks.
Latrobe Valley totaled 10 hits in the game as Gray and Duncan each drove in two runs. Ashworth went 2-for-3 while Barnes, Gray, and Glass had multiple stolen bases with eight total in the game.
The winning side was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error as Duncan had the most chances with four.
Ringwood's Precott went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead the side with two runs batted in. Precott and Bray each collected one hit while Jeffree paced the team with three out of eight walks. Jeffree and Tate Sadler also stole multiple bases with seven total in the game, plus a double play on defense.
13U All-Girls Winter Invitational
BV Braves 7, BV Cubs 7
BV Braves and BV Cubs tied 7-7 on Saturday. Braves got on board in the top of the first inning after walks to Madeleine S, Jasmine P, and Quorra I, plus a hit by pitch.
Braves extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI walks by Georgia L and Jasmine.
Cubs scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Ainslie H doubled, scoring two runs, Isla T drew a bases-loaded walk, and Lucy G hit an RBI single. Taylor E walked as one more run scored.
Braves starter Emily M gave up zero hits and two runs, striking out one and walking three.
Isla led things off on the bump for Cubs, giving up three hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking eight.
Jasmine led Braves with two runs batted in while Emily went 2-for-2. The team tallied eight walks for the game with two apiece for Jasmine, Georgia, and Pia A.
Braves were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Quorra had the most chances with four.
Ainslie provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led Cubs with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-1 on the day while Louise N, Ainslie, Alicia T, and Lucy each collected one hit.
Taylor led Cubs with two of the team's six walks. Lucy stole two bases and had the most chances in the field with three.
BV Royals 9, BV Braves 9
BV Royals and Braves tied 9-9 on Saturday. Royals scored first after Charlie S grounded out and Hannah W, Lila A, and Elizabeth V took walks, each scoring a run in the opening frame.
Braves tied it up on a hit by pitch and walk in the bottom half. Royals responded their next time up, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 9-4 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Lila on a full count that drove in two.
Braves tied it up in the bottom of the second on five walks.
Madeleine S led things off on the bump for Braves, giving up zero hits and three runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking three.
Charlie opened the game for Royals, allowing zero hits and four runs, striking out two and walking two in two-thirds of an inning.
Felicity P and Emily were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, each driving in two runs for Braves. Madeleine led the team with one hit while they collected 10 walks and seven stolen bases. Emily had multiple walks as Pia A and Madeleine stole several bases.
Braves didn't commit a single error in the field as Pia had the most chances with two.
Lila, Elizabeth, and Amelia B each collected one hit for Royals. Lila and Elizabeth batted back-to-back and both drove in three runs. Royals had a stong eye at the plate, collecting 10 walks with two apiece for Hannah and Tayle W, who also stole two bases.
Royals didn't commit a single error in the field as Hannah had the most chances with four.
BV Royals 8, BV Cubs 7
Cubs opened the scoring in the top of the first on two singles, including an RBI base hit by Alicia T.

In the top of the second, Cubs scored five runs on one hit to take a 7-5 lead. Alicia's fielder's choice drove in two.
Royals captured an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the second when Hannah W singled, scoring one run, and Lillie doubled, scoring two runs.
Lillie stepped on the hill first for Royals, giving up four hits and five runs with a strikeout and four walks. Lila A appeared in relief.
Mackenzie F started on the bump for Cubs, giving up two hits and five runs (four earned).
Lillie provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Royals with three runs batted in on a 2-for-2 day for the cleanup hitter. Lila, Elizabeth V, and Lilly R each stole multiple bases with seven total in the game.
Royals turned one double play and were sure-handed in the field with no errors. Tayle W made the most plays with three.
Alicia drove the middle of the lineup, leading Cubs with three runs batted in on a 1-for-2 day. Ainslie H, Alicia, Lucy G, and Isla T collected hits while Makenzie and Haifa took two walks each with nine total in the game. Ainslie, Alicia, and Lucy stole multiple bases with nine overall.
16U All-Girls Winter Invitational
BV Angels 6, BV Orioles 5
BV Angels took the lead late in a 6-5 victory over BV Orioles on Saturday. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the second when Sophie Bird singled, scoring one run.
Angels rallied for the victory despite trailing 5-0 in the first. Orioles got on board after Alyssa Jamieson walked, Mia Llewellyn singled, Athena Koulis walked, Sarah Rogers walked, and Ruby Llewellyn walked, each scoring one run.
Angels tied the game in the bottom of the first on walks by Andie Torcasio, Hayley Mather, Alannah Rose, and Paige Anders, plus a single by Mikayla Pools.
Llewellyn opened the game for Orioles while Kendra Rutgers threw an inning of shutout ball for Angels in relief, giving up zero hits, striking out two, and walking two.
Bird, Rutgers, and Pools each collected one hit for Angels. Torcasio, Mather, and Pools each drove in a run while Blair Murphy, Bird, and Lily Byrne stole multiple bases with eight total in the game, plus eight walks.
Llewellyn led Orioles with one hit in one at-bat. Rogers and Llewellyn drove in one run while the team took six walks total.
The Orioles defense was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error while Zali Packer made the most plays with one.
North East 10, BV Angels 6
North East won 10-6 after scoring early on Makayla Pool's RBI single, a wild pitch, and bases-loaded walks to Matilda Baker and Sophie Anders.
North East scored five runs on two hits in the top of the second. Ayla McCallum singled, scoring one run, Baker grounded out, scoring another, and Jessie Hoare picked up an RBI base hit. Samara McCallum was struck by a pitch and Anders drew a walk, both scoring a run.
Angels scored five runs on zero hits in the bottom of the second inning. Ruby Llewellyn, Hayley Mather, Andie Torcasio, and Alannah Rose took bases-loaded walks and Kendra Rutgers grounded out to score a run.
Paige Anders stepped on the bump first for North East, giving up zero hits and one run over an inning with two walks and no strikeouts. McCallum appeared in relief.

Despite trailing by as many as five runs, North East rallied to top Orioles 9-8. North East built a four-run lead in the second inning and then held off Orioles' charge. They closed the gap on a groundout, a walk, and a single.
Orioles got on board in the top of the first inning after Lacey Tompkins singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Bailey Finn singled, scoring two.
North East scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the first. Grace Castello doubled, scoring two runs, Maddie Ryan drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ayla McCallum singled to score a run. Paige Anders doubled, scoring a run.
North East was in front 9-5 in the bottom of the second after Matilda Baker hit into a fielder's choice, plus a dropped third strike, bases-loaded walk, and RBI single by Makiah McCallum.
Berry threw one inning of scoreless ball for North East in relief, giving up one hit, three strikeouts, and no walks.
Castello, Anders, and McCallum had one hit and an RBI each. Berry paced the side with two out of six walks. Jessie Hoare, Makayla Pool, McCallum, Berry, and Charlotte Kenny stole multiple bases with 15 in the game.
Finn, Tompkins, and Ruby Llewellyn collected one hit each for Orioles. Finn and Alyssa drove in two runs while Sierra Morgan took two of the team's seven walks. Tompkins, Zali Packer, and Morgan each stole multiple bases with nine in the game.

Baseball Victoria is pleased to open the Victorian-based tryout registrations for the open-age Team Australia Baseball5 Team ahead of the 2024 World Cup in October.
Tryouts will be held on Saturday 6 July and 13 July from 8am – 11 am, with the venue TBD. Tryouts will also be held in NSW by Baseball NSW. A training program will follow the selection process in preparation for the World Cup.
