U16: New South Wales 10-0 Victoria White | BOX SCORE
New South Wales continued their red-hot start to #AYC2019, taking down Victoria White to begin the day’s action on Diamond 1.
NSW piled on 10 hits in five innings, and restricted Victoria White to two singles in a solid team performance.
The heart of the NSW lineup did the damage, as catcher Alessandro Ranieri went 4-for-4, while Stephen Courtney finished with a team-high three RBI.
Despite walking a pair of hitters, starting pitcher Tom Stancic found his groove, as he kept the ball on the ground throughout his three scoreless innings.
Ryan Othen tossed 1 1/3 of solid relief for Victoria White, as Rhys Fairweather and Travis Finney each claimed a single.
New South Wales take on Queensland tomorrow morning, while Vic White match up with WA at 4.30pm.
U16: Queensland 13-5 New South Wales Country | BOX SCORE
Queensland plated seven in the first and they never looked back as they got their first #AYC2019 win against New South Wales Country on Diamond 2.
Joseph Field gave Queensland a solid platform, as he struck out seven and only gave up one earned run in four innings.
Luke Smith was crucial to Queensland’s success in the leadoff spot, as the left-fielder went 3-for-5 with three RBI.
Parker Robinson and Alex Russell nailed doubles and drove in a run each for NSW Country, but it wasn’t enough as Queensland scored a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win.
Queensland go head-to-head with NSW tomorrow morning, with NSW Country take on Vic Blue at 8.45am.
U16: Victoria Blue 12-10 South Australia | BOX SCORE
Despite a spirited comeback from South Australia, Victoria Blue held on for a two-run win on Diamond 3.
Vic Blue out-hit SA 19-8 and lead by six runs after three innings, but SA never gave up, plating five runs in the seventh.
Hayden Peoples was an impossible out for SA, as the Vic Blue DH finished with a homer, a double, a single and four RBI.
Neither starting pitcher settled into their work early, as both teams plated multiple runs in the first frame.
SA threatened in the final frame, taking advantage of some walks, but Victoria’s Bronson Neave held his nerve, leaving the tying run on second to end the ballgame.
Vic Blue take on NSW Country tomorrow morning, while SA match up with the ACT at 8.45am.
U18: Victoria Blue 20-6 New South Wales Country | BOX SCORE
Victoria Blue and New South Wales Country kept it close through three, but a late onslaught gave Vic Blue a big win on Diamond 2.
Connor Myles tripled and homered en route to a team-high six RBI, while teammate Zak Skinner also claimed a triple and a homer, increasing his RBI tally to six through two games.
Adam Mustow picked up a pair of doubles, while in his first start of the tournament, Bailey Van Leeuwen recorded a team-high two RBI.
Victoria Blue’s 12-run innings is the largest of the championship so far.
Vic Blue take on NSW under lights tomorrow night, while NSW Country match up with SA at 4.30pm.
U18: Western Australia 15-5 Victoria White | BOX SCORE
Victoria White tied things up late, but it wasn’t enough as Western Australia piled on ten in the eighth to seal the deal on Diamond 3.
Ben Drew blasted a solo shot to get things going in the eighth, as WA plated ten runs on six hits. Drew picked up where he left off yesterday, with the first baseman claiming five hits and four RBI in WA’s first two games.
Williams Sherriff showed consistency on the bump for WA, as he only surrendered one earned run in four innings.
Vic White recorded ten hits, with Connor Hickey leading the line going 4-for-4 with two RBI.
Hickey drove in two of Vic White’s four runs in the seventh to tie things up, but WA stormed home to claim their second win in as many days.
WA will go up against the ACT at 7pm tomorrow night, while Victoria White take on Queensland on Diamond 1.
U16: Western Australia 12-6 Australian Capital Territory | BOX SCORE
Despite surrendering an early lead, Western Australia stormed home to claim a six run win over a gallant ACT team on Diamond 2.
ACT plated five in the second inning, but WA clawed their way back, scoring five of their own in the bottom of the sixth.
RBI were shared evenly among the WA lineup, with four players driving in two runs each.
Dylan Bojarski’s RBI triple in the sixth set WA on their way, as they claimed their second win in as many days.
Will Edwards, Ryan Oshyer and Huon Apps drove in a run each for the ACT.
WA will put their undefeated streak on the line against Vic White at 4.30pm, while the ACT take on SA at 8.45am.
U18: South Australia 13-3 Australian Capital Territory | BOX SCORE
Six early runs gave South Australia momentum and they didn’t look back, defeating the Australian Capital Territory on Diamond 3 this afternoon.
SA wasted no time as they plated three runs in the first and second inning. Seiichiro Suzuki tripled and scored on an error to score SA’s first three runs, while Blake Farr’s two-RBI single extended SA’s lead after two.
The ACT consistently pegged SA back, scoring consistent early runs, but a solid bullpen performance from SA trio Tom Walsh, Connor Mcleod and Dayton Mitchell kept them off the scoreboard.
Suzuki and Farr finished with three RBI apiece for SA, with Trent Buchanan lead ACT’s offence, going 3-for-3.
SA take on NSW Country at 4.30pm, while the ACT take on WA under lights tomorrow night.
U18: New South Wales 7-5 Queensland | BOX SCORE
In a high quality ballgame to end proceedings, New South Wales narrowly defeated Queensland under lights on Diamond 2.
Queensland took the lead in the top of the seventh, but a masterful bullpen performance from NSW's Dylan Clarke held QLD at bay.
Clarke tossed three innings of scoreless baseball in a pressure situation, lifting New South Wales to their second win of the tournament.
Travis Bazzana gave NSW a strong option in the leadoff spot, picking up a game-high two RBI. Jo Stevens and Jaylin Rae also chimed in with a pair of hits apiece.
Liam MacDonald drove in two runs for QLD, but it wasn't enough as NSW snuck home.
New South Wales face Victoria Blue under lights tomorrow night, while Queensland take on Victoria White at 7.00pm.
