Baseball in the Northern Territory will be undergoing an exciting period of transformation in the coming months; following successful discussions with Baseball Australia and key departments within the Northern Territory Government.
With the overall aim to support Baseball NT and ensure the success of the sport in the Northern Territory for the future, Baseball Australia has agreed to provide interim support to the organisation as it transitions through this period of growth and renewal.
Over the next few weeks, Baseball Australia, Baseball NT and the Northern Territory
Government will work together to revise the Baseball NT constitution and management framework.
A key priority during this transitional period, will be the development of a new constitution; which will be taken to the members at a Special General Meeting in February 2018.
The current Executive Officer Lisa Hooley, and Development Officer Callum Hooley, will continue under the direction of Baseball Australia Chief Executive Officer Cam Vale, and his management team at Baseball Australia; until the Special General Meeting.
Moving forward, the current Baseball NT Board will continue to assist Baseball Australia during this transitional period; with a new president and directors to be appointed at the Special General Meeting in February 2018.
Baseball Australia CEO Cam Vale and his management team will assist Baseball NT during the process.
“As a federated national sport, Baseball Australia supports playing a leadership role in an interim capacity to assist Baseball NT and the NT Government achieve its aims with these governance improvements," Vale said.
“Baseball Australia is committed to ensuring it works with the NT Government to see baseball in the Northern Territory being a key part of the growth and success of baseball; and we expect these governance changes to promote exciting opportunities for the sport in this region.”
