Baseball Victoria is excited to announce team rosters for Vic Dingoes and Vic Hornets, two Victorian teams playing in the inaugural Barclay Cup from 25 September to 1 October.
25 Victorian players will travel to the Gold Coast next week to take part in this brand new national event for youth girls aged 13-16. The tournament was created by a combined group of state participation managers in honour of Jacinda Barclay, who sadly passed away in 2020.
“We are excited to be part of the first-ever Barclay Cup and are proud to have two strong teams featuring some of Victoria’s brightest youth women’s baseball talent,” Baseball Victoria CEO Chet Gray said. “We wish them all the best as they head north for a big week of baseball.”
The playing group has been working hard at training sessions in preparation for the tournament, which will see the two Victorian sides face off in addition to matchups against Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland.
“It’s been great to see the girls come together to get ready for an exciting tournament where their talent and determination will shine, “Dingoes Manager Alan Sutherland said. “We’re thrilled to have two Victorian Aces and Australian Emeralds players Morgan Doty and Abbey McLellan joining our coaching staff.
"Competing in the Barclay Cup is an incredible opportunity to provide players with an environment to develop their skills and the confidence to really strive for what they want to achieve,” Hornets Manager Sophia Stensholt added. “It’s a wonderful privilege to coach a Victorian team, as this tournament will see some of the most talented young players come together and compete, showing how bright the future of our sport is."
