Addison Bishop-Worn and his brother Cooper share an undeniable love of baseball, something that grows stronger with each season at Werribee Giants Baseball Club.
The boys have been playing for a few years now, and 13-year-old Addison and 10-year-old Cooper have no plans to stop anytime soon. Addison is a big fan of playing shortstop, and he picked up on the sport right away. “I loved it instantly, it was the best sport I’d ever played,” Addison said. “I like playing with my friends.”
Playing for Werribee’s Junior League team in the Twins charter, Addison is committed to continuing his hard work and helping his teammates during training. He has his sights set on hitting more home runs. “My favourite memory is probably hitting my first home run because the rush of energy was awesome,” Addison said.
As an infielder, Addison recognises how important his role his for his team. “I need to be focused on fielding because a missed ground ball might cost the winning run,” Addison added. “I keep trying but I also have fun with all my friends.”
Addison’s team is in third place at 9-6 with two games to go. His younger brother Cooper is also having a good season with Werribee’s Little League team, which is currently in fourth place at 8-5-2. The enthusiastic catcher also aims to hit home runs when he gets into the batter’s box. “I really enjoy it baseball, it’s quite challenging because you never know what’s going to happen next,” Cooper said. “The best moment was when I first started catching.”
Cooper says other kids his age should get involved and give baseball a try. “Werribee is really friendly and we make people enjoy it baseball.”
Good luck to Addison and Cooper in the rest of their seasons!
