Hills withstood a plucky Macarthur to claim its second-straight Australian Junior League Championship proudly presented by Bendigo Bank on Friday night.
The defending champions prevailed 13-3 at Adelaide Shores Baseball Complex, earning the right to again represent Australia Region as the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan, later this year.
Clayton Campbell’s two-run homer in the bottom of the third put Hills ahead, before a four-run fourth provided some breathing space.
Harrison Wheeldon’s RBI-double in the fifth then enforced the mercy rule.
Starter Tom Stancic steadied after allowing three early runs to work five solid innings.
The right-hander punched out eight hitter and walked just one.
Campbell and Matthew Clements both finished with three runs batted in for Hills.
Earlier, Macarthur took the lead in the second, scoring three runs on a single from Damian Eagles and pair of wild pitches.
