The rain held off long enough to complete day 2 of the 2015 Under 18s National Youth Championships presented by New Era today.
The ACT played out of their skins in their game against Victoria Blue this morning, with an 8-4 win. ACT Players Campbell Quirk took an excellent diving catch in centerfield and James Sammes with an outstanding catch at first base. The standout for the game was pitching from Kurt Berry, who was awarded the win. He pitched 8.3 innings to 35 batters for a total of 95 pitches, only giving up 5 hits in total.
Western Australia v Country New South Wales
In a fight to the end Western Australia defeated Country New South Wales in a walk-off single from Jesse Sequeria to score the runner in the 11th inning. Mitchell Neunborn had the hit of the game with a triple in the bottom of the 9th.
South Australia v New South Wales
In their first win of the tournament, New South Wales defeated South Australia 6-3. In another first New South Wales player Dean Frew hit the first homerun of the Under 18 Championships with a 2 RBI Homerun to left field.
Queensland had a convincing win over Victoria White, scoring 17 runs from 13 hits. The game included 6 doubles, 5 of them from Queensland players. Liam Taylor, and Kevin Jordan with a double each and two apiece from Louis Baker and Nate Vankan.
