After a fourteen year baseball career and eleven selections for Team Australia, Justin Huber will play his last game of baseball this weekend with the Melbourne Aces.
Huber was signed by the New York Mets in 2000, and made his MLB debut on the 21st of June, 2005 with the Kansas City Royals. He played 45 MLB games in over five seasons with the Royals, the San Diego Padres and the Minnesota Twins.
He also played in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball League for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp and five seasons with the Melbourne Aces. The 2014 ABL All-Star Game represented his eleventh selection for Team Australia, including the 2006, 2009 and 2013 World Baseball Classics and the 2014 Team Australia Challenge where he held a batting average of .500 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Huber will not be leaving the sport altogether and will now serve as the new general manager of the Melbourne Aces. Although he will be a missed member of our National Team, we look forward to continuing to work with Huber to grow the sport.
