Monash University Baseball Club (MUBC) has a strong presence across Victorian Baseball, fielding 6 seniors teams (including a women’s’ team) across the MWBL and DBA in winter, and 2 teams in the BV Summer League. The club recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and continues to foster an inclusive culture for all, and prides itself on introducing baseball to rookies that may never have played before.
Following a 2013 season review, MUBC is restructuring its coaching panel for winter season 2014, and is opening all positions to internal and external expressions of interest. The coaching panel will work towards the following club objectives:
- Ensure players continue to develop their baseball fundamentals and understanding of the game
- Play a hard but fair brand of baseball, in the spirit of the MUBC culture
- Solidify the club’s presence in MWBL B Grade, with long term plans of entering A Grade
- Continue to foster the inclusive culture at MUBC both on and off the field
The new panel will consist of a head coach and a number of specialist coaches (3-4).
The head coach will report to the MUBC board, and have the following responsibilities:
The specialist coaches, with direction from the head coach, will focus on areas such as (but not limited to) hitting, defence, pitching, conditioning and player development depending on the coaches’ specialities. Specialist coaches are expected to hold a minimum ABF Coaching Accreditation Level 3, or be working towards one.
All roles may be playing or non-playing, and may be adjusted to suit the successful candidates and the club. The club is passionate about supporting its coaching panel and players through further development and accreditation.
