In becoming the first baseball club in the country to make such a commitment to be providing quality experiences to people of all abilities and backgrounds they are officially the first Inclusion Club Champion. This stance on quality sporting opportunities for all members of the community is placing them at the forefront of sport and society within the Brimbank community and state. The existing members of Sunshine Baseball Club will be signing the online Inclusion Deed, where they pledge to make baseball a welcoming, safe place for everyone. Baseball Victoria will also offer two free junior team registrations in the Summer League or Winter Competition to the club with the most members signing the deed prior to March 2015.
As part of this commitment, Vince Wong has taken the role of Inclusion Ambassador, advocating Baseball Victorias engaging programs within their club. Vince was involved with the Baseball For All Showcase event in September and is a valued member of the Sunshine Baseball Club committee.
Sunshine Baseball Club offer programs for participants with a disability, opening their field to Special Olympics in 2013 for a sporting gala event that hosted 80 students with a disability from the north and west regions of Melbourne. With the added support of Baseball Victoria through the Baseball For All Initiative, and external organisations, Sunshine Baseball Club will be building their capacity to offer quality physical activity experiences to all members of the community.
