Congratulations to the Southern Mariners, the first winners of the Australian Senior League Championships.
The Mariners were a perfect 7 wins from 7 games as they closed out the final against the Hills, 6-1. Jackson Boyd spinning a pearl of a game, facing just one over the minimum in the 7 innings. Southern Mariners Head Coach Jack Larner was ecstatic with his team’s victory. “It was a great team effort, especially from Jackson Boyd.” Larner said.
“He was massive for us today, and we couldn’t be prouder of his efforts.”
“We’re really excited to represent Australia in the Philippines later this year, it’s going to be an amazing experience for the guys.”
The Mariners will now move on the Asia Pacific Championship in the Philippines in July, a journey well deserved for the Head Coach who has been ever resilient in fighting his ongoing health issues while being supported by his coaching staff, Brendan Wilson and Russell Ferguson.
Little League District Administrator Tom Dicker shared these comments, “Well done to the Southern Mariners. To continue their powerful State Championship performance with an undefeated National tournament is a testament to everyone involved in the Southern Mariner Charter, in particular; the players, coaches, supporting volunteers and the parents. Congratulations on creating history, everyone in Victoria is behind you while you represent Australia in the Philippines.”
