140 MLB games, AAA All-Star, nine MVP awards and seven premierships, will be just some of the accolades celebrated as Trent Durrington and John Galloway are inducted into the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame on 28 February 2015.
Baseball truly is a global sport and these two inductees are a perfect representation of the breadth of the game, it’s opportunities and success stories in Australia.
Trent Durrington was the third Australian position player to debut in the Majors when the Anaheim Angels called him up in 1999. To get to that moment, the infielder had worked his way up through four Queensland State teams, three Australian caps and five years in the US Minor League system.
Back on home soil Trent made 245 appearances in the ABL and Claxton Shield competition. His 1222 career games in the US, 140 of those in the Major Leagues with the Angels and Milwaukee Brewers, make him a deserving inductee in the special playing category for outstanding international career.
John Galloway is a life-long player, totalling over 500 A-grade club games in two States, nine MVP’s and seven premierships across South Australia and Victoria. His exceptional service to baseball has also been recognised with the Australian Sports Medal.
The capped Melbournian represented Australia as a player, captain and coach, and his longevity and success in the game is testament to his natural talent for the game he loves. John is being inducted for the playing category 1968 to 1988.
Trent and John’s induction into the Hall of Fame is the highest honour that can be bestowed upon an individual for their sport and the two will be in held in high esteem as they stand in front of their peers and Gala audience in February.
