Baseball Victoria’s U12 State Winter Championship will bring more than 80 baseballers from across the state to Werribee Giants Baseball Club over the weekend of 16-17 July 2022.
Six sides with 14 players each will take to the field for an action-packed weekend featuring Bendigo, City West, Dandenong, Diamond Valley, Geelong, and Ringwood.
After the U12 tournament was cancelled the last two years due to COVID, Werribee is ready to host a big weekend of baseball.
“We are very thankful and excited to be hosting the U12 State Winter Championship and looking forward to watching the bright young baseball talent from all the teams competing,” Club President David Bishop-Worn said. “Our goal for the weekend is for everything to run smoothly so everyone involved has a great time.”
The whole club community has come together to ensure the U12 event is a big success.
“Our volunteers have been working hard to maintain our diamonds and clubhouse, stocking and cleaning the canteen, and setting up everything for the tournament,” Bishop-Worn added. “We appreciate the opportunity, and feedback from players, supporters and volunteers at previous tournaments has been positive so we enjoy being able to help out.”
The Victorian baseball community is invited to come out and show their support for the ambitious U12 athletes.
“We’ve enjoyed three fantastic winter tournaments so far and are excited to watch the U12 action unfold in Werribee this weekend,“ Baseball Victoria CEO Chet Gray said. “This is an opportunity for young baseballers to make awesome memories with their teammates and further develop their skills on the field. We hope to see plenty of supporters cheering them on and we wish all players and teams the best of luck.”
