Today marked the start of the 2015 Under 15 Women’s National Championship in Canberra. New South Wales proved they are here to win a 4th straight championship and all teams showed they are here to play some competive baseball.
In the first game of the day New South Wales showed everyone they are here to win a 4th consecutive championship with a 14-3 win over Queensland. NSW took advantage of their strengths, made few errors and got runs on the board early. New South Wales player Jordan Richardson had the hit of the game with a double to centrefield.
Country New South Wales came out with a blast, scoring sixteen runs in the first 2 innings and although ACT’s bats came alive in the 3rd inning, Country defeated ACT 23-7. Olivia Cameron from Country NSW had an impressive game with 4 runs from 3 hits, including 3 doubles and 4 RBI’s.
New South Wales v Western Australia
Western Australia pushed 3 time champions New South Wales all the way in a close and hard fought game. Although WA had loaded bases in the end, New South Wales defeated them 9-6.
In a great game of baseball with both teams showing good basic baseball skills, Queensland defeated ACT 12-4. Queensland player, Chloe Humphreys hit an in the park homerun.
