Victoria completed a perfect opening round of the 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship on Wednesday afternoon and in the process denied South Australia a shot at a second-straight bronze medal.
The defending champions improved to 6-0 with an 11-1 win on diamond one and will play New South Wales in the gold medal game on Thursday night.

Victoria jumped to an early 3-0 lead and put together a seven-run fourth after SA had got on the board. They wrapped up a mercy-rule win in the sixth.
Bronwyn Gell finished with four hits and drove in two runs, including one to make it a 10-run rule win. Leslie Anglin had three hits and Morgan Doty drove in three runs.
Starter Maddy Patrick went 4 2/3 innings, allowing one run on six hits. Hannah Jackson recorded the final four outs.
The championship game will start at 7:30pm AEST local time and be broadcast on Facebook and baseball.com.au.
