Victoria has a chance to head into Thursday’s 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship gold medal game with a perfect opening round record after powering past Queensland Maroon on Wednesday in Adelaide.
The defending champions punched their ticket to the title game on Thursday with a 10-0 win on diamond one.

A pair of early four-run frames put Victoria up 8-0 and they wrapped up a mercy-rule win with two runs in the fifth.
Abbey McLellan blanked Maroon in the bottom of the inning to seal the five-inning win.
Bronwyn Gell, Morgan Doty and Emily Devine each had two RBIs for Victoria. Gell opened the scoring with a two-run single in the second as a bases-loaded walk and error extended the lead to four.
Shae Lillywhite singled to make it 5-0 an inning later before Doty’s RBI-single put the lead at six runs.
Jamie Bastian’s fifth-inning single and a Lilian Bell-Tanner RBI completed the offensive output from Victoria.
Starter Jessica Johnson went four innings, allowing two hits and striking out four. McLellan worked around a leadoff single in the bottom of the fifth to shut the door.
Victoria, now 5-0, will close out the opening round against South Australia on Wednesday.
The game has been pushed forward to a 1:30pm start AEST as part of a shuffled day six schedule.
Victoria will face the winner of Wednesday’s clash between New South Wales and Western Australia in the gold medal game.
