Congratulations to Victorian Charlie Collins on his commitment to Odessa College in Texas.
The 18-year-old – who represented Team Australia at the 2018 WBSC U15 Baseball World Cup and was named MVP at the 2019 U16 Australian Youth Championship – will become the latest Aussie to link up with the Division I junior college.
Charlie will follow in the footsteps of Victorian utility Conor Myles, Queenslander Liam MacDonald and West Australian Chase Diggins, who are all on the Wranglers’ 2021/22 roster.
Charlie looks forward to chasing his dreams of winning a national title and competing at the highest level. This exciting next step comes after he took part in the Victorian National Showcase Series, earning a spot in April's National Junior Camp in Canberra.
As part of the BV high performance program, Charlie has represented Victoria three times at the Australian Youth Championships, winning MVP at the 2019 U16 nationals after hitting .462 in eight games for Victoria Blue.
A year later he was named U18 hitting champion after going 15-for-29 (.517) with nine RBIs in Geelong.
The Blackburn Orioles premiership winner, who previously played with Ringwood Saints, also took part in the 2017 Australian MLB Invitational and spent time with the Melbourne Aces as a development player, making his ABL debut last December.
