As the race toward finals continues, the Werribee Giants are holding their ground as they look to bring home their first premiership flag.
The Giants put up more runs than the Williamstown Wolves on Thursday night's round 17 meeting, taking the victory to the tune of 5-1.
Wesley DeJong earned the win for the Giants. He lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out two.
Daniel Chircop took the loss for the Wolves. He allowed three hits and three runs over four and a third innings, striking out two.
Oliver Box went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Giants in hits. Werribee was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. The Balzer brothers had 9 put outs collectively with some outstanding defensive plays in CF and 3B.
The Giants and Wolves will go head to head on Sunday in a series decider. The Giants still aiming to catch Cheltenham in first place and the Wolves desperate for a win to keep their hopes of a fourth place finish alive.
