Wins for NSW and VIC Blue at the Under 18 Champs

After all the games were cancelled Sunday due to the weather, two games were played yesterday at the Under 18 National Youth Championships presented by New Era.  New South Wales defeated Queensland and Victoria Blue picked up their first win of the championships. 

New South Wales v Queensland

In a game filled with doubles and double plays, New South Wales narrowly defeated Queensland by two runs in the 10th inning. The game started with a lead-off double from New South Wales player James McCallum and in a fight for the win Queensland turned five double plays throughout the game. Louis Baker also proved he is on fire with his batting with another RBI double to left field. 

Country New South Wales v Victoria Blue 

In their first win of the tournament, Victoria Blue defeated Country New South Wales 5-3 in a late night game of Baseball at Blue Sox Stadium. Country was the first team on the board in the 4th, with a single from Sam Langer and a RBI Double from Joel Thompson. Victoria Blue responded with three of their own runs in the 5th, and Country tied it up with another run. Victoria Blue took the lead in the 7th with two singles from Oliver Dunn and George Callil to secure the win. 

Todays games will proceed on Diamond 1 at Blacktown and to ensure play continues at the tournament two alternate fields will be utilised at Winston Hills and Hammondville. All games will return to Blacktown once council makes the necessary work and decides to re-open diamonds 2 and 3.
