Going into the bottom of the 2nd inning, Sunraysia came back to tie the game at 1-1, with a RBI Sacrifice Bunt from Zac Stainer. The tie continued through the top of the 4th inning, when the Athletics brought two runners in to score, taking a 3-1 lead.

While the Athletics were able to score one more run, it wasn't enough as Sunraysia took the ‘W’.

Finnley McGrath was on the mound for Eastern Athletics. He allowed two hits and four runs over three innings, striking out one. Alek Siddans and Lochlan O'Connor entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Southern Mariners Fall Short in Matchup with Twins

This morning the Twins and Southern Mariners played the longest game of the day in the Senior League which spanned three hours. A tight competition until the 5th inning, the final scoreline did not reflect the first half of the game.

Despite the loss, Southern Mariners did collect six hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately for them, the Twins had 13 hits on the way to victory.

The Twins started the game strong with a two-run lead over the first three innings, including a groundout from Nathan Smith to score Jaycob Pascuzzi. In the 3rd inning, the Twins scored another three runs, before taking their turn in the field and giving up a pair of runs to the Mariners.

The mood of the game shifted in the 5th inning, when the Mariners allowed seven runs to score, giving the Twins a 12-2 advantage. Connor Shibeci, McCleod Sell, Jaycob Pascuzzi, Trenell Hutchins and Smith all drove in runs during the inning.

Although the Mariners answered with three of their own in the bottom frame, thanks to a lead-off single from Angelo Reale-Rontos and several key walks, it wasn’t enough to keep up. In the 6th inning, the Twins added another run and kept the Mariners off the scoreboard. The Mariners were tired and in a tough spot in the 7th inning when the Twins tacked on another five runs.

The Mariners would score one more time before the Twins officially sealed the deal and took the win.

The Mariners would score one more time before the Twins officially sealed the deal and took the win.

Many players stood out for their contributions during the game, including Kennan Spence of the Twins who had a batting average of .778 and was only one home run short of hitting for the cycle.

Smith was on the hill for the Twins. He lasted four innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out two. Joshua Tribe started for the Mariners, surrendering five runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Millar Kuhl and Tahj Rousell entered the game in relief, throwing two and a third innings and one inning respectively.

Angelo Reale-Rontos went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Mariners in hits, while Spence, Smith and Shibeci had multiple hits for the Twins. The winning side also tore up the base paths, with Bailey Marcola successfully stealing twice.

A post-game interview with a key player from the Twins, Keenan Spence showed just how dedicated he is to the sport and how he wants to progress his career to become one of the best in the future. Despite coming back from injury, Kennan had a batting average of .778 and was only one home run short of hitting for the cycle. "It's kind of funny, I didn't realize I was that close for the cycle until I was in the dugout and my friend told me," Spence said. "I don't really let the pressure get to me, there's a lot of good hitters on our team, so I know that the people before me will get on, and the people after me will bring me in. Those pressure moments are the ones you want to be in."

Game 8 - Field 3 12:30PM Geelong Baycats vs. Eastern Athletics  7 - 8

Romanin's Walk-off Gives Eastern Athletics Victory Over Geelong Baycats

Eastern Athletics took their game in dramatic fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Geelong Baycats. The game was tied at seven with the Athletics batting in the bottom of the 7th when Jack Romanin singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Athletics were stronger at the plate, collecting 12 hits compared to the Baycats' four, but a lack of huge hits didn't keep Geelong out of the game. It was a tight game the whole way through, thanks to impressive performances on both sides.

A scoreless first inning set the tone of the game, but it wasn't long before a two-run double from Ryan Othen got the scoring stated and put the game in favour of the Athletics in the 2nd inning. The Baycats put up two runs in the top of the 3rd to stay right in the game, although the Athletics responded with another run to extend their lead by two runs. An additional run in the 4th gave the Athletics a decent advantage, but the game was about to heat up.

Geelong scored two runs in the top of the 5th on a double from Hayden Peoples and a groundout from Brody Stokoe, although the Athletics soon answered with two of their own. James Richardson singled on a 1-2 count to bring home another run, followed by an RBI single from Cody Caulfield.

A scoreless 6th inning preceded the intense 7th inning was where everything came down to the wire. In the top frame, Geelong battled hard, putting three runs on the board to tie it up. After blowing their lead, the Athletics buckled down and loaded the bases, giving Romanin the chance to change the game for good. He laid down a bunt to second base and made it safely to first base, scoring the walk-off run and winning the game for the Eastern Athletics (7-8).

Angus Stals led things off on the pitcher's mound for the Athletics, throwing four and a third innings. He gave up four runs on three hits along with three strikeouts.

H. Peoples started the game for the Baycats, covering one and two-thirds innings with one hit, two runs and a strikeout. Jordan Baumann, Adam Jirik and Hudson Carter all appeared in relief.

Romanin (3-for-4) and Othen joined Ethan Scalzo with multiple hits for the Athletics, while Peoples had two hits in four at bats to lead the Baycats.

Game 9 - Field 4 12:30PM Southern Mariners vs. Sunraysia  15 - 1

Sunraysia Loses Lead Early in Defeat

This game was close in the beginning, before the Southern Mariners worked their way to a big margin, cruising to a 15-1 victory. Sunraysia fell behind early and simply couldn't get back into the game. Three runs on three walks from Balin O'Callaghan, Xander Gunn and Elliot Andersen to start the game boosted the Mariners' confidence, and although they gave up a sole run in the bottom of the 1st, they added to their lead in every other innings while keeping Sunraysia from rounding the bases.

Three runs in the 2nd and another five in the 3rd made it difficult for Sunraysia to bounce back. The Mariners added three more in the 4th before the 5th inning saw the Mariners take the mercy rule win.

Throughout the course of the game, Sunraysia struggled to contain the high-powered Mariners' ofense, led by timely hits by Joshua Tribe, Tahj Rousell and O'Callaghan.

Felix Brunner pitched for the Mariners, allowing just one run on four hits, one walk and five strikeouts. Jack Barrot took the hill for Sunraysia, covering two-thirds of an inning with one hit and three runs allowed along with a strikeout. Jackson Malycha and Ronan Scott entered the game in relief.

Despite the loss, Sunraysia had four players with hits on the day, including Lindsay Barbary, Coby Mitchell, Raiden Wakefield and Ronan Scott. On the sure-handed Mariners side, which didn't commit a single error on the day, Blake Holding, Angelo Reale-Rontos Gunn, Rousell and Tribe all had multiple hits. In the field, Gunn had the most plays with four.

Game 10 - Field 4 3:00PM Twins vs. Geelong Baycats  15 - 10

Twins Overcomes Geelong Baycats In Face Of Early 6-Run Inning

The delay of start time by just over an hour put this game in jeopardy of finishing early due to light. The Twins managed through a push by Geelong in the 5th inning, and despite coughing up six runs they were able to pull away with the win. William More, Jordan Baumann, Adam Jirik, James Lappin and Cooper Rickard all drove in runs during Geelong's big inning.

  • Both offenses were strong at the plate as Twins collected five hits and Geelong Baycats had nine in the high-scoring affair. The Baycats jumped on the board in the first inning when Rickard singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run as they came out fighting for a win to redeem themselves from their last game, when they lost 7-8 to Eastern Athletics. They added another in the top of the 4th.
  • Twins pulled away for good with nine runs in the 2nd inning, starting with walks from Nathan Smith and Connor Shibeci before Jaycob Pascuzzi smashed a two-run triple. An error, bases-loaded walk, wild pitch and single from Zachary Gorman made a big impact for the Twins. It was a 14-3 game, going into the 4th.
  • Harry Garret started for the Twins, throwing four innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out six and walking one.
  • Hudson Carter started for Geelong, allowing zero hits and two runs over one inning. Ash and Sebastian Dew entered the game in relief, throwing two innings and one inning respectively. Gorman went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Twins in hits, while Rickard and Baumann both managed multiple hits for Geelong Baycats.
  • Walks proved to be Geelong's downfall, with pitchers giving up 13 walks in the game. The entire game truly was a battle between walks and hits.

    Game 4 - Field 1 9:30AM Eastern Athletics vs. Southern Mariners  13 - 17

A high-scoring affair has left Southern Mariners celebrating a 17-13 win over Eastern Athletics on Sunday morning.

A run was scored in each inning besides the seventh, but the Mariners were the team that piled on the most runs – seven in the second and six in the fifth.

This game was dominated by the long ball as home runs galore were hit. The Mariners with two for six total runs but Athletics were much better with their connection; six homers (two to Tyler Evans) that brought in 13 of their 17 runs.

A spirited comeback from Athletics was on the cards when they scored five in the bottom of the fifth to make it 16-13 and would’ve felt good considering the deficit was low.

The Mariners scored one in the sixth, and after a match where only two of the 11 digs drew in no runs, the final three digs also produced no score, leaving the Mariners with their second win.

James Squire for Eastern Athletics was perfect at the plate, going three for three, and adding each advancement to finish with three runs for the game. However, there were three Mariners players with three runs each (Lachlan Smith, Tom Brookes, Wesley Ka) with Brookes going four of five and four RBIs.

    Game 5 - Field 1 12:30PM Geelong Baycats vs. Twins  7 - 8

A strong fightback from Geelong Baycats was inspiring but just not enough as they lost 7-8 to Twins at Field 1 on Sunday afternoon. For the Twins, it was their first win of the weekend.

In a high-scoring first inning, Baycats led 3-2, however the away side didn’t see another run cross the plate for the next four innings.

Down by one and looking for a lead, Twins started their bottom second nicely with Beau Graham awarded a home run off the first pitch of his at bat to tie the scores.

In the bottom of the third, Twins broke away, their lead extended to two thanks to a Spiers sacrifice fly that scored Fitzgerald for his second run of the game. From that too, Bailey Wilson was able to round to third and came home for his second run due to an error.

Baycats remained composed on defense until the fifth where, with a 3-1 count, a three-run home run from Wilson took much control away from Baycats.

Baycats brought the margin back by three, each of those being brought in due to wild pitches.

A shutout in the Twins bottom six made them feel nervous for the inning ahead, and rightly so as Tipping scored as the ball was hit to short stop where the play was made for an out.

Twins were able to get the final out, a fly ball to second base, and walk away with the one-run win.

    Game 6 - Field 1 3:00PM Twins vs. Southern Mariners  2 - 19

An 11-run third dig to Southern Mariners all but ensured they would win over Twins and after Tom Brookes homered in three runs in the fourth innings, the final result was a 19-2 mercy.

Mariners got out to a 0-3 lead at the end of the first innings and kept Twins grounded with Otto Mojo striking out seven batters in his three innings pitched, where 10 of the first pitches were strikes.

Mariners pitching stuck well throughout the game, where no Twins dig (within the first three) comprised of more than four batters, the first two three up, three down. Despite their limited hits, Twins had nine quality at bats, a testament to their driven nature, especially late, but still outclassed by Mariners 22.

Only one Mariners player was unable to find their way home, but a masterclass from Lachlan Stevens (three from four) and Thomas Yuile (three from three) with a homer and batting in four runs.

Two home runs came in the Mariners 11-run stand that included a grand slam from Yuile, and the Twins couldn’t find the first out until eight batters down the lineup, six runs already scored.

Harrison Green-Williams from Twins remained on the pitchers plate for 91 pitches, and although he saw four home runs fly over his head, kept his head up and finished out his three complete innings with three strikeouts that had batters looking.

Unfortunately, the result confirms their standings, with Athletics going undefeated in three games, leaving Twins stranded on the bottom without a win.
