The 2022 Little League State Championships finished in exciting fashion on Sunday, with Southern Mariners taking out the LL Major Grand Final and Baycats winning LL Development.
Well done to all players and teams on a fantastic weekend at Knox and thank you to all volunteers and supporters for making this such a memorable tournament.

Little League Major
Twins 7 v Eastern Athletics 5
Eastern Athletics did their best to bounce back from a five-run deficit but ultimately fell just short as Twins won 7-5 on Sunday. Eastern scored two runs in the failed comeback on a single by Finn W. and a double by Reiley M.
Twins got things started in the first, scoring one run when Oliver V. singled. It was a close contest until Twins took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth. Andy Z. tripled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run, and Maison R. doubled to score another.
Cruise C. and oscar S. singled in the fifth and Andy tripled as Twins scored three more.
Eastern Athletics notched three runs in the sixth inning with RBIs from Finn and Reiley.
Oscar was on the hill for Twins. The hurler surrendered three runs on four hits over five and a third innings, striking out nine.
Jonathan P. pitched for Eastern Athletics, throwing five and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits, striking out seven and walking zero. Oliver A. threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen.
Finn led Eastern Athletics with two hits in two at-bats while Twins tallied 11 hits total, including multiple for Andy, Oliver, and Maison.
Grand Final: Southern Mariners 12 v Twins 3
Southern Mariners stole the lead late and defeated Twins 12-3 in the grand final. The game was tied at three with Southern Mariners batting in the bottom of the fourth when Hamish W. singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
Twins got things moving in the first inning on an error before Cruise C. drove in two on a big single in the third.
Southern Mariners took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. Toby B., Bodhi E., and Riku T. all singled to score runs.
Jackson B. led things off on the mound for Southern Mariners. The bulldog went five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out ten and walking one.
Oliver B. pitched for Twins, allowing nine hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Murphy C. and Oliver V. entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two-thirds of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.
Southern Mariners racked up 13 hits. Hamish went 3-for-3 while Riku and Bodhi had multiple hits, too. Andy Z. went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Twins in hits.
Little League Development
Mariners Teal 9 v Twins Black 2
Mariners teal won 9-2 over Twins Black after opening the game with a bases-loaded walk in the first.
Twins tied things up at two in the bottom of the second, but Mariners Teal pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.
Mariners Teal scored five more runs in the fourth on singles by Kai C. and Hayley D.
Xavier led things off on the hill for Mariners Teal, giving up two runs on two hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven.
Connor B. was on the hill for Twins Black. The pitcher allowed one hit and four runs over three innings, striking out nine. Kaiden R. threw one inning out of the bullpen.
Connor and Lucas K. had one hit each for Twins Black as the team was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Treye M. had the most fielding chances with 11.
Mariners Teal didn't make any errors either as Jack B. had the most chances with seven.
Twins Orange 9 v Mariners White 8
Both teams scored two runs in the first but Twins Orange took the advantage with a five-run second, eventually earning a one-run victory despite being out-hit by Mariners White nine to four.
Molly L., Mia W., and Sage W. had multiple hits for Mariners White while Patrick M. doubled and stole a base.
Arlo V., Harry D., Noah A., and Keiran H. recorded hits for Twins Orange. Arlo had an RBI triple while Keiran stole two bases.
Thomas S. pitched for Mariners White while Ry V. put in work on the mound for Twins Orange.
Twins Orange 9 v Mariners Teal 7
Twins Orange seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion with a walk-off single. The game was tied at seven with Twins batting in the bottom of the fourth when Arlo V. singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.
Mariners Teal scored four runs in the third inning on Chase P.'s home run, but Twins Orange still managed to pull out the victory.
Earlier, Jack C. singled to open the scoring for Twins Orange in the first inning.
Joseph H. was on the mound for Twins Orange. The bulldog went three and a third innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and striking out three.
Oscar H. toed the rubber for Mariners Teal. Oscar surrendered four runs on three hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Chase threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Arlo went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Twins Orange in hits.
Mariners Teal tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Riley F. led the way with two. Mariners Teal didn't commit a single error in the field as Jack B. had four chances, the most on the team.
Grand Final: Baycats 13 v Eastern Athletics 2
Baycats had everything working on Sunday, winning 13-2 over Eastern Athletics in the grand final.
Baycats got on the board in the first inning as Tylah L. doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs. Three more runs scored on hits from George S., Jack N., and Theo H. in the third.
Tylah was on the pitcher's mound for Baycats. The bulldog went two and a third innings, allowing one run on one hit with seven strikeouts.
Phillip T. toed the rubber for Eastern Athletics. The pitcher surrendered five runs on three hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one. Clayton H. and Michael N. entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning, respectively.
Jack had two home runs for Baycats while Tylah, George, and Xavier F. also had multiple hits. Baycats didn't commit a single error in the field as George had the most chances with 13.
Jonathan R. led Eastern Athletics with two hits in two at bats.
