The 2023 Australian Youth Championships continued Friday with doubleheaders for Victoria's U16 and U18 State Teams.

U16: Vic 9, NSW Country 5
An early lead helped Victoria defeat New South Wales Country 9-5 on Friday morning. Ethan Johnston singled, Mitch Langworthy walked, and Jordan Ellis and Samuel Walk doubled in the first.
Cooper Laurie got the start for Victoria, throwing two innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out three. Cade White recorded five K's in two innings and Hamish Stone pitched in relief, too.
Walk, Zak Stafilis, and Ty Daniels had two hits apiece while Roman Coote, Johnston, and Ellis had one each.
U16: WA 13, Vic 10
Victoria put up a good effort offensively, tying the game at seven runs in the second before WA pulled in front.
Hudson Pallay, Brooklyn Riwaka, and Nathan Rumbelow took turns on the mound while Zak Stafilis and Will Kent had two hits each. Devin Leahy, Ty Daniels, Jordan Ellis, and Robinson Smith got on base with timely hits, too.
U18: Vic 14, NSW Country 0
Victoria defeated New South Wales Country 14-0 on Friday afternoon as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. James Squire got Thomas Karnaghan to hit into a fielder's choice to finish off the game.
An error scored two runs in the first, while Evan Maury tripled and Addison Bishop-Worn singled to add five more in the second.
Lachlan Amon gave up two hits over three innings, striking out one and walking zero. Blake Mitchell and James Squire pitched in relief.
Victoria racked up 13 hits on the day. Lachlan Smith led the way with three hits while Ryan Williams, Jayden Kim, Maury, and Bishop-Worn had two hits apiece.
U18: Vic 6, WA 6
A tight game between Victoria and Western Australia ended in a tie on Friday night. WA led 3-1 after the first and it stayed that way until the bottom of the fifth when Victoria scored three.
WA got three back in the sixth, but Victoria wasn't going down without a fight, scoring two in the final frame for a 6-6 draw.
Victoria outhit WA 8-4 with two doubles for Harper Rickard, triples for Lachlan Smith and James Squire, and a double for Ben Howard. Jayden Kim had a pair of singles while Jack Ratcliffe scored two runs.
Starter Cooper Tipping struck out three while Aimon Dowling, Bishop-Worn, and Ryder Wilson helped in relief.
#AYC2023 Day 3
Victoria's U16 team has another doubleheader on Saturday, playing ACT at 10am and Queensland at 12:45pm. The U18 team takes on ACT at 3:30pm and QLD at 6:15pm.
