The 2020 Australian Youth Championships continued on Monday for the fourth day of action-packed games. Victoria Blue and Victoria White both finish the day with 2-4 records in the U16 event, while Victoria Blue is 4-2 to stay in the top three in the U18s with Victoria White coming in at 1-4.
Day five of #AYC2020 will bring more fantastic matchups as Victorian teams continue to make the most of their time at the tournament.
DAY FOUR RESULTS - U16 VICTORIA BLUE & WHITE
Victoria White 10 v Country New South Wales 4
Harper Rickard had two hits as Victoria White picked up a crucial U16 win over Country New South Wales at #AYC2020.
Victoria White has given its hopes of playing for a U16 medal a boost, improving to 2-3 with a 10-4 win over Country New South Wales on Monday morning.
White scored nine late runs to break open a tight ballgame dominated early by strong pitching on diamond four at Geelong Baseball Centre.

Vic White scored first but trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the fourth before an offensive surge.
They scored three in the fourth, four in the fifth and another two in the sixth to take a commanding lead.

Western Australia made it two-from-two in their U16 double dip against the Victorian teams at #AYC2020.
Western Australia has moved into second spot behind New South Wales on the U16 standings after defeating Victoria White on Monday.
WA (4-2) jumped out to an early lead and piled on four insurance runs in the fifth on their way to a 10-4 win on diamond two at Geelong.

Ben Randall’s RBI-single opened the scoring in the first ahead of Western Australia extending its lead to 4-0 in the second.
Jaxon Limpus doubled and Aden Browne singled to drive in runs.

Limpus finished with three RBIs on three hits and Browne two on two hits.

Queensland will play for a U16 medal on Wednesday after knocking Victoria Blue out of contention for a top-four finish on Monday afternoon.
Twelve unanswered runs lifted Queensland to a 17-8 win and improved their record to 4-2, level with South Australia and Western Australia.

Day three of the 2020 Australian Youth Championships saw some fantastic results for Victorian teams as Victoria Blue improved to 2-2 in the U16s while Victoria White got their first win on the board. In the U18s, Victoria Blue has a 3-2 record going into day four as Victoria White sits at 1-4.

DAY THREE RESULTS - U16 VICTORIA BLUE & WHITE
Victoria White 5 v Australian Capital Territory 4
Victoria White scored a pair of late runs to overcome the Australian Capital Territory for its first U16 win of #AYC2020 in Ballarat on Sunday.
White overturned a one-run deficit in entering the bottom of the sixth and Angelo Reale-Rontos closed out the game with a second scoreless inning to wrap up a 5-4 victory.
VICW v ACT: Box Score and play-by-play
Vic White took the early lead, scoring twice in the third.
Harper Rickard’s two-out single drove in the first run before an error doubled White’ advantage.
The ACT hit back with four runs in the top of the fifth, headlined by a run-scoring triple.
An error helped Victoria White pull within a run before hitting the lead an inning later.
Joel Prpic’s two-out single kept the sixth alive ahead of an error allowing two runs, including the go-ahead, to score.
Victoria White faces Country New South Wales from 9am on diamond four at Geelong tomorrow, followed by Western Australia at 12.45pm on diamond two.

Victoria Blue's U16s improved to 2-2 after limiting Country New South Wales to one hit in a solid win this afternoon.
Nicholas Bertucci and Charlie Pierson combined to allow just one hit as Victoria Blue downed Country New South Wales 6-1 at the 2020 U16 Australian Youth Championship on Sunday.
Bertucci worked 3 2/3 innings, striking out three, and Pierson punched out three in 3 1/3 to lay the platform for a second win in four games.

Vic Blue opened the scoring in the third and added insurance with three in the fifth.
They added two in the sixth.
Tom Brookes, Bronson Neave and Patrick Gawith each collected two hits to support the strong pitching.

Charlie Collins and Dante Caruso drove in threes runs to power Victoria Blue past New South Wales in their U18 gold medal rematch at the 2020 Australian Youth Championship on Sunday morning.
Collins and Caruso helped power the offence as Vic Blue racked up 11 hits to support a strong start from Cody Caulfield.
VICB v NSW: Box Score and play-by-play
Caruso finished a homer shy of a cycle after singling to open the scoring and tripling to drive in twos runs as Victoria Blue went up 3-0.
Blue added to its lead at regular intervals before NSW added a pair of late runs.
Caulfield kept New South Wales quiet early, striking out four and allowing only two hits and a pair of walks in 4 2/3 innings.
Collins, Caruso and Mitchell Homfray all had three hits as Victoria Blue’s first three hitters went a combined 9-for-11 with seven RBIs in a strong display of hitting.

Zak Elvy stifled the bats and Zach Murphy cleared the bases to lift Country New South Wales to a thrilling U18 win over Victoria White at Melbourne Ballpark.
Murphy doubled on a fly ball to lift Country NSW to its first win after overcoming an early 4-0 deficit.

Victoria White scored four runs in the top of the first on Jordan Baumann’s RBI-triple, a single from Kynan Jones and an error and bases loaded walk.
Country got a run back in the bottom of the inning on Nathan Bezrouchko’s single.
Reliever Zak Elvy then helped stifled Victoria White’s bats, allowing only one run over 3 1/3 innings ahead of Nick Battese striking out two in a pair of scoreless innings.
Runs in the fifth and sixth put Country NSW in a position to strike.
And they did in the bottom of the seventh on Murph’s double.

Jack Higginbotham and Hamish Rees combined to help South Australia shut out Victoria Blue in their #AYC2020 U18 clash.
The duo combined to allow just two hits over seven innings and Darcy Barry provided all the offence SA needed to claim victory and improve to 2-2.

Higginbotham worked 4 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and striking out four, and Hamish Rees punched out three in 2 1/3 innings.
South Australia broke the deadlock with a run in the third.
Barry singled with two outs to give SA a 1-0 lead that held up hours after they lost 14-13 against Western Australia.
SA managed just four hits themselves as pitching dominated.
Nathan Smith worked 3 1/3 innings, striking out two and giving up two hits without any runs.

Starter Tom Stancic built a solid platform, striking out five in three scoreless innings, and his offence did the job to collect a hard-fought victory on diamond one at Geelong Baseball Centre.

Stancic did not give up a hit and allowed just one walk ahead of relievers Ethan Treble and Wilson Spinks conceding just one hit in a solid pitching performance from NSW.
New South Wales took the lead in the bottom of the third behind his strong start.

Lachlan Bojarski’s two-out, two-run double, in the fourth extended the NSW lead to three runs.
An error allowed Victoria Blue to pull a run back in the fifth, but the NSW bullpen kept Vic Blue at bay. NSW had just three hits for the game as pitchers dominated.

South Australia downed Victoria White 10-4 as Max Stagg starred with four hits, including a homer, in an impressive win at Melbourne Ballpark.

South Australia took a 2-0 lead in the first but it was erased in the third.
But the next five runs were scored by SA to blow the game wide open.
Stagg homered in the first inning after Jack Bushell walked.

The Carina-product gave Queensland a five-run cushion in the top of the fourth and they held off Vic White, padding their advantage in the sixth before recording a first win.

Victoria White took a 2-1 lead after one but a sacrifice fly drew Queensland level in the third.
A six-run fourth put Queensland out on top.

Blue conceded in the top of the first but scored three in the second and six in the third to pull away and record a strong win after dropping its first two games.

Victoria White walked it off in Ballarat for a brilliant finish over South Australia.
Trenell Hutchins singled to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to score Jordan Baumann (single) and lift Vic White to a 5-4 win in its second game.
VICW v SA: Box Score and play-by-play
SA had pulled level in the top of the eighth on a bases-loaded walk to set up the thrilling finish.
Pitching was on top early with the teams both failing to score through five.
Victoria White starter James Lynch struck out four in five scoreless innings and Connor McLeod had seven strikeouts and allowed only one hit in four frames for SA.
The South Aussies struck first offensively.
Liam Bull’s two-out single opened SA’s account.
But Vic White hit back with a three-run inning of its own.
SA pulled level in the top of the eighth ahead of the teams trading runs.

After having their opener yesterday suspended due to rain WA’s bats fired in a 14-6 win to open their account.

They totalled 16 hits, led by four from Brady Oilphant and three from Tye Kazmierowski.
Western Australia scored four times in the second and three in the third to go up 7-2 early.
They kept chipping away offensively, adding runs in the fourth, fifth, eighth and ninth.
Victoria Blue was unable to keep pace despite tallying 10 hits, dropping to a first loss after two extra-inning wins on day one.
Andrew Hurrelbrink (1 2/3 scoreless innings) and Connor Chehab (two strikeouts) closed out the game to deny Blue.

Queensland 3 v Victoria Blue 5
Jarryd Wood drove in two vital runs in extras as Victoria Blue edged Queensland in an #AYC2020 thriller!
Victoria Blue started its U18 title defence with an extra-inning win over Queensland on day one.
Blue scored three runs in the extra inning, with international tiebreak rules in play, and restricted Queensland to one to claim a 5-3 win on diamond four at Geelong Baseball Centre.

Henry Hayman singled to drive in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth and Jarryd Wood’s triple scored another two runs.
Queensland responded with a Lachlan Wilson single but could not come back for a second time.
The Queenslanders tied the ballgame with a two-run sixth.
Ian Lee tripled with two outs to score a pair of runs and make it 2-2.
Victoria Blue had doubled its lead in the top of the inning.
Nathan Smith’s two-out double scored Dante Caruso (single) to make it 2-0.
Earlier, Charlie Collins drove in the first run of the game in the third.
Collins had three hits and Caruso two.
Victoria Blue is back in action against the ACT in the second game of a doubleheader.
Queensland faces South Australia (1-0) from 3.15pm on diamond two at Geelong.
Victoria White 13 v New South Wales 18
In a wild battle, New South Wales overcame an early four-run deficit to defeat Victoria White at Melbourne Ballpark on Friday afternoon.
Roan North drove in five runs and Nicholas Chappell three to lift NSW to an 18-13 win.
VICW v NSW: Box Score and play-by-play
New South Wales jumped out to a 3-0 lead but Vic White piled on seven runs in the bottom of the second to grab the upperhand.
But the next 15 runs went the way of NSW to break the game open.
They piled on 10 in the fifth before Victoria White hit back with the last six runs.
It was not enough though as NSW started with a win.
North and Dylan Martin finished with three hits each for New South Wales.
Jordan Baumann and Trenell Hutchins had three hits for Vic White.
Osmin Wong homered for the Victorian outfit.

Victoria Blue 9 v Australian Capital Territory 8
Victoria Blue clinched a second extra-inning win in as many games, topping ACT in a huge team effort.
Sam Skinner drove in the winning run as Blue downed the Australian Capital Territory 9-8 in extras, hours after defeating Queensland in additional innings on diamond four.
VICB v ACT: Box Score and play-by-play
ACT scored once in the top of the eighth before a bases-loaded walk and Skinner’s single propelled Victoria Blue to victory in a see-sawing contest.
Vic Blue scored in the first but ACT hit back, taking a 4-1 lead.
The contest continued to swing with Victoria Blue scoring the next four runs to take the lead ahead of ACT drawing level.
Both teams traded runs in the sixth as it went to extras.
Jarryd Wood drove in three runs for Victoria Blue.
Aaron Riley had a couple of RBIs for ACT.
ACT faces Queensland tomorrow with first pitch from 9.15am on diamond two at Geelong.
Victoria Blue heads to Ballarat to face Western Australia from 2.30pm.
