Following announcements made by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on the changes to restrictions due to a COVID-19 case detected in a hotel quarantine worker, Baseball Victoria has updated our Return to Play Plan with guidelines for the remainder of the 2020/21 VSBL season.
Baseball Victoria is closely monitoring this situation as it continues to evolve and will provide any further updates as soon as possible.
As of Friday, 5 February 2021, the changes to restrictions are:
- Masks will be mandatory in public indoor spaces. If you have visitors in your home, it is strongly recommended that masks are worn during the visit. Masks must be worn in indoor public spaces apart from when eating or drinking. If you are planning to leave your home – take a mask.
- The limit on the number of people gathering in a household will be reduced from 30 to 15, meaning the household members plus 15 visitors (excluding children under 12 months of age).
- The 75 per cent ‘return to work’ cap in both public and private sectors scheduled for Monday 8 February will be paused and the current cap of 50% will remain in place.
For all baseball activity in Victoria, the main changes are that face masks must be worn at all times when inside club facilities. This includes clubrooms, changerooms, canteens, and scorer’s boxes. When socially distancing cannot be maintained in the dugout or on the field, players and coaches must wear a mask. All baseball participants must carry a mask with them when they leave the house.
